Ark Undead

Hannah stretched out her hands and warmed them by the fire for a while. Once she was a little warmer, she turned to the undead and spoke.
"The timber looks good today, quite fresh. Was it just delivered a couple of days ago?"
"yesterday."
Hannah glanced at the pile of firewood beside her. The firewood she had brought was clearly not as good as what the Undead had bought. But it was still considered very cost-effective from the place she could find.
"I have an order I'd like to ask you for help with today."
Hannah pulled a piece of paper from the inside pocket of her clothes, held it between her index and middle fingers, and handed it to the undead beside her.
The immortal took the piece of paper, on which was drawn a small map.
"do what."
"Go and be a guard for me."
As Hannah spoke, she crossed her legs over the campfire, which had already warmed her considerably.
“Our business has run into a little trouble. Some other gangs are trying to take over from us. But Vina has other things to do today, and I alone can't keep things under control. We need Mr. Wandering Soul to step in.”
The immortal looked at the map for a while, then turned the paper over and glanced at it again.
The immortal asked.
"money."
"Same as always, after it's done, I'll find you a week's worth of top-quality timber!" Hannah patted the undead's shoulder, making a sound like striking metal. "But seriously, Mr. Ghost, you're really strange. Why are you always wearing armor?"
Melantha listened attentively, and when Miss Hannah said those words, she couldn't help but nod in agreement.
Yes! I've never seen Mr. Undead's face. I'm really curious about what he looks like!
"trouble."
The Undead muttered, his voice coming from inside his helmet as if it had been turned on with reverb.
"What trouble could there be? And won't it be stuffy to keep it inside the helmet all the time?"
"will not."
Hannah's conversations with the undead usually end with the word "undead".
In a sense, the Undead are truly social butterflies, always able to perfectly end or interrupt a conversation.
It uses only two words.
"If you ever get into trouble and need our help, the reward will definitely be that you take off your helmet!"
Hannah seemed to have a deep obsession with the appearance of the undead. What she didn't know was that the Felin girl sitting and resting next to her had the same idea.
What does he look like?
"Oh."
The immortal successfully ended the conversation.
Hannah sighed. It wasn't just her personal curiosity about Mr. Ghost; it was something the entire Glasgow Gang was curious about.
This armored monster, who calls himself an immortal, is quite famous in the lower part of Victoria.
During their first encounter with the Glasgow Gang, he single-handedly took down several of the gang's best fighters. When Hannah tried to defeat the armored monster herself, he easily knocked her to the ground.
The undead's rusty katana was already poised in mid-air. If Vina hadn't shouted to stop him, Hannah's hands would probably have been severed.
This is the second person, after Vina, to subdue Hannah.
Undead are called wandering spirits in the underworld.
Some say that the Undead refer to themselves as a wandering spirit.
Some say that because the undead, dressed in black robes, wandered the streets and alleys looking just like a black ghost, they gradually came to be called wandering spirits.
Generally speaking, undead people don't easily leave their territory. But almost every few days, they would go somewhere and carry a large bundle of firewood.
In addition, there was always a burning smell coming from the Undead's house, but there was never an actual fire. Those who feared him thought that the Undead was burning corpses in his house.
However, only a small part of the Glasgow Gang knew that the Undead had simply lit a fire in their home.
And this fire never goes out, even year after year.
The thing the undead like to do most is sit by the campfire, raise one leg, put their right hand on their leg, and stare at the fire.
He could sit by the campfire and stare at it all day long.
Like today, besides instructing Melantha and occasionally going out to help out the Glasgow gang, whom I met by chance, I would go home, put down my weapons, and sit quietly by the campfire.
I wonder if he doesn't need to sleep?
"Alright, I've delivered the message. You can come after sunset tonight."
Hannah stood up from the campfire, dusted herself off, and stretched.
After sleeping in the warehouse all night, I came to the Undead's place early in the morning to warm myself by the fire and regain my energy.
With her ears twitching amidst her graying hair, Hannah perked up and bid farewell to the undead.
"Bye-bye, Mr. Ghost! I'm off!"
"..."
The Undead did not speak; he stared silently at the fire in front of him.
In fact, Hannah always felt that the Undead wasn't as quick to react as he had been at the beginning. When she first met him, she could occasionally feel the Undead's gaze coming from inside his helmet.
But lately, the Undead Man has been sitting quietly by himself, and he talks much less.
How should I put it... it feels like it's lost its soul?
However, Hannah did not believe that such a powerful warrior would simply fade away and die in obscurity over time.
Let's just assume that Mr. Undying has something on his mind lately!
With that thought in mind, Hannah stood up, waved to Melantha beside her, and walked out of the Undead's House.
5. The cake has no flavor.
An immortal's life is very simple.
Buy firewood. Throw the firewood. Watch the campfire.
These are the three main tasks; everything else is done interspersed within them.
For example, take some time to teach Melantha combat skills, and take some time to help Hannah and Vina.
Now, as his memory grows increasingly hazy, the Undead himself sometimes contemplates when it's time to leave Victoria.
In fact, being taciturn is not the true nature of an immortal. It's just that his rationality and humanity are constantly being lost, and he will eventually become a wandering soul that he can vaguely recall in his own memories.
Undead who have lost their purpose and motivation will eventually become wandering ghosts, going berserk and attacking everything around them.
This was something very deeply etched in his memory; he didn't know why he just knew these things.
He still remembers many things, such as a campfire that never went out and a bottle containing a liquid as hot as lava, but which was good for his health if he drank it.
It seems they killed a lot of people, took down many big guys, and even saw a black sun?
However, these memories slowly fade away over time.
His clearest memory now is of a year or six months ago when he woke up in the vicinity of Victoria, fought with the Glasgow Gang, and settled in the lower suburbs of Victoria with their help.
During this time, I met Melantha, as well as Miss Vina and Miss Hannah.
There are also many ancient memories, which the Undead have now hidden away in some unknown corner.
He tried hard to recall, but he couldn't remember anything; he could only recall some vague images.
In his memory, the campfire should not go out, and a sword should be stuck on the fire, with the blade spiraled.
Unlike modern campfires, which require a constant supply of wood to sustain their fire, otherwise they will extinguish themselves.
But what's amazing is that the immortals remember many things from the present.
He knew that besides Victoria, there were many other places. For example, there was the Eastern Kingdom, the Yan Kingdom, and kingdoms called Ursus and Sherag.
It seemed he had been to all those places, and he could recognize any location he saw. But if you asked him to describe what he had experienced in those places or what famous landmarks they were, he couldn't remember anything.
The Undead knew his homeland was in a place called Lordland, but he couldn't remember what he used to do.
He'd been wearing this armor ever since he awoke near Victoria, and he remembered he couldn't take off his helmet. Otherwise, something bad would happen; the people around him would look at him like a monster.
Not even any part of their body can be revealed.
In fact, even the Undead will remove their gauntlets at night and observe themselves by the light of the campfire.
Those were hands that could not be called human hands; the withered skin and muscles made them look like walking corpses.
He had no friends; the only people he could occasionally talk to were Vina and Hannah.
There was another guy named Morgan, who was the strategist for the Glasgow gang. But he was rarely seen; he always seemed to be busy with other things.
As for Melantha, the Undead really didn't know what to say to her.
So I simply stopped talking about it; after all, Melantha only asked him to teach her some combat techniques.
He just needed to find an opportunity to tell her that it was time for him to leave Victoria.
His thinking is becoming increasingly sluggish; he can barely remember how much he spent on the last purchase of timber.
Was it one gold coin or several silver coins?
The Undead stared silently at the campfire, lost in his own thoughts.
Melantha, standing beside him, watched the Undead, staring at his armor, which lacked a black robe, and observing the various marks left by weapons on it.
I suppose the Undead must be battle-hardened warriors?
Only battle-hardened warriors can see through the enemy's weapon trajectory in an instant and accurately aim at vital points with every attack.
This is not a fight for show, but real killing techniques.
Melantha stared at the undead, pondering matters concerning them.
She felt only the purest respect and gratitude for the immortals.
I am grateful for his help on that rainy day and respect his skills as a soldier.
