Ark Undead

A voice came from behind the greyhound, startling it.
"Holy crap?"
The greyhound turned around and saw W, her eyes narrowed and a smile on her face. The smile on her face didn't seem like a genuine smile at all; it looked like she was plotting something extraordinary.
"You scared the hell out of me, you walk so quietly."
"Senior, you need to work on your alertness. Have you been eating too comfortably or sleeping too soundly these past few days? You don't seem as sharp as you were a few days ago."
W sat down opposite Greyhound, grabbed a cup, poured himself a cup of tea, and drank it.
The greyhound clicked its tongue.
"I can't help it, these past few days I've been invited to dinner everywhere. Either they want to ask me about the details of the Red Dust Guest incident, or they want to ask me about my brother. Actually, I don't want to go at all."
W rolled her eyes and said.
"Your next sentence will be, 'But...'"
"But they gave me a lot, hehe. And the food was really high-class. Damn it, when they tempt me with this kind of stuff, I really... can't refuse!"
Greyhound chuckled, then glanced at W's sleeve.
Seeing the greyhound's gaze, W subconsciously rolled up her sleeves again.
Greyhound quickly averted his gaze, giving W a meaningful look that signaled to her who had lost their vigilance.
"They went to deal with the people?"
"Ah."
W nodded, she said.
"Those guys who came with me were actually here to hold me hostage. If I didn't complete the mission, they would kill me here. That's one of Theresis's precautions. But now that I've completed the mission, there's no need for these guys to follow me anymore."
"Theresis won't care either."
Greyhound nodded in agreement.
“These ordinary soldiers are just straws to him. As long as you can bring him corresponding value, it doesn’t matter how many people you kill. He will also get the pardoner to praise you and give you a corresponding position. It’s good to kill them, at least for a while no one will care what you do.”
Just as W was about to agree, she saw the greyhound's gaze shift from her to behind her.
W, like the greyhound, looked behind him.
Sure enough, there was never a person or thing in his sight that was worthless.
"You smell."
The immortal sat down next to the two, dressed in casual clothes ordered from Victoria, with a silver-white mask covering half of his face.
"Just now, someone was killed."
"Yes, I've dealt with those Theresis soldiers who came with me. On the way back, I can visit Rhodes Island."
W also spoke frankly, and then she spoke again.
"Do you want me to pass on a message to your disciples? That little purple cat, and that blond silly dog?"
“It’s Melantha and Kroos.”
The Undead tried to correct W's way of addressing him, though it was to no avail.
"Yes, yes, yes, the purple kitten Melantha and the blonde silly dog Kroos."
W nodded quickly and gave a perfunctory reply.
The immortal thought for a moment, then spoke.
"Let's see how they're doing."
"that's it?"
W looked at the undead with surprise.
"I thought you'd ask me to take some heartfelt words back with me, like, 'Teachers, I miss you all. Take good care of yourselves, get some rest, don't overwork yourselves,' and things like that..."
The Undead shook his head; he couldn't say those words, and there was really no need for them.
Although Kroos and Melantha are both children, they have experienced more complex things than many adults.
These basic truths don't need to be reminded; they have their own goals.
Even if the Undead didn't say anything, Melantha would train desperately so that one day she could keep up with the Undead and fight alongside him in all directions.
Undead people don't need excessive concern for their lives.
No one stays together forever; just as flames gather and disperse, so too does life.
One day, they may have to face a world where the undead have disappeared, but the undead have long been prepared.
"Okay, that's settled then."
W sat for a while longer, then felt there was nothing left to talk about. So she stood up from her chair, picked up her small bag from the table, and slung it over her shoulder.
"I'm leaving."
"Have a safe trip, and let's meet again in Kazdel."
Greyhound nodded. He had a fairly good impression of W, at least he was a "comrade" on the same path.
W squinted and nodded, bidding farewell to the Greyhound Undead.
She knew that Greyhound's words were just a polite remark.
People like them, once they return to Kazdel, will immediately be sent to other places to carry out missions.
Greyhound understood this, which is why he planned to stay in Da Yan for a while longer, finish his business, and then return to Kazdel to see how things had progressed.
The two of them had no idea if they would ever have the chance to meet again.
But there's no need to be so pessimistic.
At least they all know that they are not the only ones walking this path.
They all remember the goodness of that true king, and they are doing the same things.
W turned and left the teahouse with a flourish, boarding the bus to the ferry terminal.
Greyhound watched the bus drive away, smacked his lips, and took another sip of tea.
"They're all gone. You're almost done too, brother?"
"Yes, I'll see her off, and then I'll leave."
The Undead watched the bus disappear into the towering mountains of Shangshu, then looked at the Greyhound.
"What about you?"
"Me too, pretty much the same."
"That's what Greyhound said."
"I originally wanted to travel a little further with you. But I felt that if I stayed by your side, I would only be holding you back, so I decided against it. I'd rather go to the capital and find my juniors to think of a way to restore the connection between Rhodes Island and Great Yan."
If Rhodes Island and Great Yan could establish diplomatic relations, it would be a good thing for both Rhodes Island and Great Yan.
Rhodes Island gains the support of the most mysterious nation on the continent, while Great Yan gains an invisible hand that can send its people to Rhodes Island for cooperation and handle other matters outside of Great Yan.
This is a win-win situation, but the details of the cooperation still need to be discussed carefully.
We can't let something like what happened in Shangshu a few years ago repeat itself. The internal strife in the Great Yan Dynasty disrupted Rhodes Island's plans and completely severed ties between Greyhound and Rhodes Island. As a result, Rhodes Island's office in Shangshu ended up in a state of disrepair.
"Then I wish you a safe journey. We'll meet again in the capital when you return from Yumen."
Greyhound poured a cup of tea and handed it to the Undead.
The Undead took the teacup and clinked it against the Greyhound's.
"Let's get together again."
...
Just as the Undead went to deliver W, Chen also arrived at a familiar place.
It was here that Chen first experienced the terror of communicating with elderly people.
It's not that the old master was particularly oppressive. But Chen really couldn't handle this kind of warm concern.
When they knocked on the old master's door, they heard the girl who was taking care of him speak from inside.
"Coming, coming, is this Miss Chen?"
"it's me."
Chen responded, and then saw the door open.
"Please come in quickly, the Celestial Master is already waiting for you."
Chen changed his shoes and went up to the second floor.
As before, the old master was dressed in tattered clothes and cotton slippers, sitting on a recliner with his legs crossed, listening to today's news.
Chen came up behind the old Celestial Master. Before Chen could speak, he heard the old Celestial Master say something.
"You should leave today."
"Yes."
These past few days, Chen has been under the care of the Old Celestial Master, accompanying the Embroidered Uniform Guards on missions within Shangshu.
I have also seen those so-called demon seeds, and those mortals who have been invaded by demon seeds.
It was only then that she realized how safe and harmless the criminals she had encountered in Lungmen law enforcement were compared to the demon seeds.
"You've had a tough time these past few days."
"No, for me, it was a very precious experience."
Chen said earnestly.
"If it weren't for the fact that Mr. Undying was in a hurry to go south, I would have liked to stay with those senior members of the Embroidered Uniform Guard for a while longer."
"Okay, it's good that you have the intention."
The old master chuckled, stood up from his chair, and pulled Chen to sit down on the sofa next to him.
What followed was a show of concern for Chen.
