Ark Undead

Scout paused for a moment before realizing what he had almost said.

That wasn't taboo, but it was a source of pain for all the elite operators present.

"At the beginning?"

The immortal didn't listen to the whole story; he was still curious, so he asked a question.

"Can I reveal a little bit? No need, I won't go into too much detail."

Logos glanced at the Undead, then closed his notebook.

Seeing Logos's expression, Scout knew that Logos was about to speak. So he leaned back, giving Logos enough space to communicate with the undead.

"Simply put, it was the battle that turned Babel into Rhodes Island. In the end, we lost the Doctor, and we also lost the King."

Logos spoke of this without any change in tone, as if he were detached from the matter.

"That battle was incredibly fierce and lasted a long time. But Rhodes Island preserved its last spark of hope, bringing us new hope... Yes, that's what Kal'tsit told us. But in reality, Rhodes Island has only just welcomed back the Doctor. I haven't seen any new hope yet, unless..."

Logos glanced at the undead, shook his head, and didn't intend to continue.

It's clear that even someone like Logos, who seems cold and indifferent to everything, has some resistance to that period of history.

Perhaps, at that time, the Tower of Babel faced many failures and betrayals.

When Scout brought up the matter, his tone was no longer as calm as usual.

The Undying knew that digging into someone else's pain was not a good thing, so he simply nodded and didn't ask any further questions.

The fact that the Doctor didn't mention those things to the Undead means it's not something the Undead need to know. If the Undead wants to know, they should go back and ask the Doctor.

The raindrops outside the window pounded against the glass, becoming increasingly intense.

What were originally just fine lines of rain, once they hit the glass, shattered into raindrops the size of a thumb, and were finally smashed to pieces by the next round of raindrops.

Surprisingly, there was no thunder in the sky, and the world was completely covered by the heavy rain.

The sounds inside the car gradually changed from the soft thud of a needle hitting the ground to a mixed cacophony of impacts.

But amidst this strange cacophony, it was as if all other sounds had lost their luster, transforming into a unique tranquility.

The Undead instinctively fell silent, sensing something was amiss.

The fire-wielding woman beside him had already grabbed his arm.

"No, something is getting closer."

"The Fire Maiden said in a low voice."

"Front?"

Suddenly, the entire vehicle began to brake violently.

Before anyone could react, they were thrown forward. If they hadn't been wearing seatbelts, they probably would have been thrown out of their seats.

Rainy days also make the ground extremely slippery.

The car, after braking suddenly, slid forward a short distance before finally crashing into something with a loud bang.

boom!

With a jolt, the vehicle finally came to a stop.

Within a second of the vehicle stopping, someone immediately reacted.

"You've hit someone!"

The driver shouted. As an operator of Rhodes Island, his mental fortitude was certainly up to par, and he wouldn't be in a state of shock.

"Attention everyone, go on high alert and be ready to defend against enemy attacks at any time."

Scout immediately stood up and informed all the operators in the vehicle.

The Undead grabbed the Fire Mage's arm, holding her tightly to his chest, while his eyes were already on the situation ahead of the vehicle.

After confirming that there were no other enemy threats around the vehicle, the driver opened the door on Scout's orders.

The driver stood by the car door and whispered a few words as Scout and the Undead got out of the vehicle.

"The rain was so heavy that I didn't react in time, and the ground was slippery in the rain, so I couldn't stop the car."

"However, I have a feeling there's something wrong with the thing we hit, so be careful."

The driver wouldn't show any remorse in such a place.

Because normal people wouldn't go out in such heavy rain, and wouldn't specifically come to the front of the road to wait for vehicles.

This seemed more like a carefully planned accident, designed to force Rhodes Island's vehicles to stop.

But why would they use a human life to achieve such a goal?

After listening to the driver, Scout said a few words to him, telling him to return to the driver's seat and be ready at any time. Scout then opened his umbrella and, together with the Undead, stopped in front of the corpses that had been knocked away.

Before the two had even fully reached the corpse, they already sensed something was wrong.

The fluid from that body structure even mixed with the surrounding rainwater, forming a strange deep purple color.

Clearly not a normal human being.

When the two actually arrived at the body, Scout couldn't help but gasp.

"This is fucking..."

He had never seen such a body structure before; just one glance at it sent chills down his spine.

The fish-like skin and the distorted joints of the body all demonstrate the bizarre nature of this accident.

What actually caused the death was not the impact of the vehicle, but a huge gash torn open in its abdomen.

It was as if something had crushed the body's structure with tremendous force. Then, through friction and crushing, it broke apart, leaving only the skin on both sides still connected.

How was it able to still make it onto the road in this state?

What exactly is propelling it forward? Could it be normal human beings?

Scout was completely unfamiliar with this creature. But he was no stranger to the Undead; he had not only seen them but had also killed them.

The Undead didn't speak; he simply turned his head to look at the surrounding woods and path, not noticing anything unusual.

All traces vanished in the heavy rain, making tracking impossible.

And those deeply hidden auras, mixed in with the sound of rain, interfered with the immortals' judgment.

Not sensing that anyone was watching them, the Undead reacted quickly.

"Take the body with you."

The Immortals Theory.

"Kal'tsit would be interested."

...

The heavy rain didn't last long, and the Rhodes Island crew didn't stay on the road for very long either.

They understood that this portion of the manpower was insufficient to combat the lurking dangers in Iberia.

The most urgent task is to meet with Kal'tsit and establish a real connection with the Iberian State Church.

So before the sound of rain became the only sound in the world, they drove out from under the dark clouds.

The sound of rain returned to a drizzling tone, and Logos inscribed reinforcing and sealing spells on the corpse in the trunk to ensure that no further problems would arise.

Soon, everyone was able to see the camp that looked like a fortress blocking the road ahead, and only then did they relax from their tense state of alert.

The lights that appeared in front of the camp also illuminated the area around the vehicle, gradually approaching the driver's eyes with a wary look.

The driver knew that the lights not shining in front of him were a signal for him to stop.

Before the light blinded him, the driver wisely brought the vehicle to a slow stop.

About fifty meters from the camp, several soldiers wearing raincoats who were on duty came to the vehicle.

"Please state your purpose and show your proof of entry."

Scout went to the driver's seat, picked up the intercom next to the driver's seat, and spoke loudly.

“We are employees of Rhode Island Pharmaceuticals, invited by the Iberian government. Please come closer so we can show you our passes.”

The sound came from the speaker on the roof of the vehicle and reached the sergeant's ears.

So the soldiers then separated two soldiers and went to the driver's window.

Scout handed over the documents in a very proper manner.

After the sergeants took the document and glanced at it, they compared it with the pattern in their other hand and confirmed the seal's correctness.

He then turned around and waved to his companions over there, indicating that he was safe.

With the high beams removed, the driver was able to start the vehicle and continue driving.

"Thank you."

Scout politely expressed his gratitude.

The soldiers responded solemnly.

"Thank you for cooperating with our inspection. Please continue on your way. Lady Kal'tsit and the Grand Inquisitor are waiting for you at the camp."

390. The Grand Judge

After arriving at the camp near the Iberian coast, the group got out of the vehicle without hesitation and communicated with the soldiers who had escorted them to find out Kal'tsit's location.

Kal'tsit wasn't waiting for them in her residence or any meeting room. Instead, guided by a sergeant, they arrived at a warehouse located at the rear of the military camp, used for storing some kind of special item.

As soon as the Undead entered the warehouse, they smelled an extremely strong fishy odor.

"This smell... um."

Even an immortal wouldn't need to look to know what's stored here.

Although the cabinets on both sides were air-conditioned, the faint stench emanating from them still told the Undead that this was probably a camp used to hide corpses or research materials.

Inside the warehouse, Kal'tsit and another well-dressed, white-haired old man were sitting around a table bathed in special lighting.

Hearing the noise beside them, the two turned their gazes.
