Ark Undead

Before Scout could even speak, a series of footsteps echoed through the hallway once more.

Another figure burst open the door to the immortal's room.

His shield smashed through the wooden door, while the long sword he gripped tightly in his right hand was hidden behind his back, ready to attack at any moment.

The elite operator from Rhodes Island also scanned the room with her eyes, finally fixing her gaze on the undead.

The undead recognized him; this shield-wielding warrior was named Sharp, and they had met the undead several times on Rhodes Island.

“Mr. Undead, this is the first time I’ve seen you here.”

Sharp greeted the undead, but did not lower his guard.

Then, he looked at Scout standing to the side.

"Scout, third time."

Scout also responded.

"This is my fifth time."

Then, Scout finally said the sentence he hadn't finished.

"Mr. Undead, may I see your fire?"

At the same time, Scout raised his crossbow and aimed it at the undead.

395. Granting Awakening

"So, we're back now, aren't we?"

Although Scout asked these questions, he had actually been gradually lowering his crossbow and no longer aiming it at the undead.

"Sorry, I was a little nervous just now."

Scout slightly turned his gaze away, and after realizing he was back in reality, he let out a long sigh of relief.

"fine."

The immortal shook his head.

Even the undead can imagine what they encountered in their dreams when faced with such a situation.

Just from Kal'tsit and Carmen's descriptions, one can tell just how dangerous the dream was.

It's more accurate to say that Scout and Sharp didn't act immediately upon seeing Kal'tsit like Carmen did, because they were all comrades of Rhodes Island.

If it were anyone else, they probably wouldn't even ask a question and would just slash at them with their swords.

Sharp sheathed his long sword and stood guard at the door.

"Alright, the most urgent thing now is to find a way to wake everyone up, at least to try and see if we can succeed."

Kal'tsit didn't wait too long on Scout and Sharp; the explanation for this dream could be given after everyone woke up.

Otherwise, talking here is just a waste of time.

Without hesitation, the group surrounded Carmen and left the Undead's room.

They forced the door open by force, and everyone watched as Carmen placed the lantern next to her sleeping companion.

Carmen reached out and guided the cleansing fire away from the lantern, slowly flowing into her sleeping companion's body through her palm.

The Undead had done this process before, when he cleansed Specter's body of impurities, with him, Kal'tsit, and Shining working together.

The Undead expelled the filth from Specter's body, and then Kal'tsit and Shining restricted the filth's movement.

This time, however, the immortals became bystanders.

Kal'tsit and the Undead tacitly avoided mentioning the Undead's flames.

In fact, if Carmen's flames can have this effect, then the Undead should be able to do it as well.

However, both the Undead and Kal'tsit wanted to see just how far Carmen's Cleansing Flame could go.

Unfortunately, Carmen's Cleanse Flame circulated within the operator's body several times without producing any effect, and the Cleanse Flame did not even react to the operator.

"I'll give it a try."

The Undead came to the operator's side and placed his hand on his shoulder.

The first flame directly drove away the cleansing fire, returning it to the lantern through Carmen's palm.

However, even the First Flame found nothing unusual in the operator's body. In fact, the Undead even found that the Originium crystals inside the operator were very well-behaved.

The only unusual thing was that he was asleep, fast asleep.

"No, it didn't work."

The Undead shook his head; it seemed Carmen's information was not effective.

Carmen remained calm, seemingly unsurprised.

"The fire of purification should react to impurities. But if it's just a dream, it might be difficult to make a connection."

This is something that can't be helped, since dreams are such ethereal things that they can't be observed with the naked eye.

After sitting beside the operator for a while without any sign of waking up, the group had no choice but to return to the room of the undead.

For a moment, the atmosphere in the room became somewhat oppressive.

The cleansing fire had no effect; even the flames of the undead couldn't pull people back to reality.

Doesn't this mean they can only rely on their own will?

"I think it's time to start considering the next steps."

Kal'tsit immediately began to consider her next move.

"We can't just sit here and wait to die. There must be a reason for this dream, and we can't be sure if the dream will come again next night."

This strange thing happened after Rhodes Island's reinforcements arrived.

"However, we are currently short-staffed, and..."

Scout frowned.

"I remember seeing patrolling soldiers near this camp yesterday. Where did they go?"

"If they can't come back, the odds are probably against them."

Carmen lowered her eyes slightly; even this saint felt pity for such a thing.

“There are many gathering places for sea creatures nearby, especially recently, some strange creatures have come ashore along with the sea creatures.”

"If you can't get out of the dream, that's the most dangerous thing... We still have to go and look for it."

Carmen had no intention of abandoning any of her comrades; these were the people of Iberia. Even if they were soldiers, their sacrifice could not be ignored.

However, that's a story for another time.

"So, what are our plans after this, Lady Carmen?"

"Kal'tsit asked."

“This is Iberia, your home turf. I don’t want to act on my own without your approval. It would be best if we could cooperate with you.”

"Thank you for your respect and trust, Ms. Kal'tsit. If it were me, I certainly wouldn't abandon the previously established plan, but there might be some minor changes."

Carmen nodded slightly to Kal'tsit and continued.

“Originally, we planned to clear out the sea creature nests in this area bit by bit, and then contact the people in the nearby villages to see if they had any clues about the Deep Sea Church. But now that the Deep Sea has turned the tables on us, we can’t just wait around like this.”

"From now on, Rhodes Island's operations will no longer be controlled by the Iberian Church. Ms. Kal'tsit, I hope you and your operators can find the key to this incident."

Carmen simply granted Kal'tsit maximum authority, a move born of necessity.

After all, he is now practically defunct, and this dream has proven that Rhodes Island's operators are indeed of higher quality than these soldiers from Iberia.

Not only Kal'tsit and the Undead, but Scout and Sharp also woke up from their dreams.

"Alright, looks like we need to speed things up."

Kal'tsit nodded, then looked at Sharp and Scout.

"Before this...Scout, Sharp, how did you get out? Since you went straight to the Undead's room, did you also discover that the Undead is the key to the dream?"

I originally thought that the two of them, like Kal'tsit and Carmen, realized that there was something missing in their memories about the undead, and then came directly to find the undead.

But their answers left Kal'tsit and Carmen stunned.

"No, I came out after Miss Skadi killed me."

Scout shook his head, he said.

“Miss Skadi found me in my dream; she is the only person I have ever met who is willing to communicate with me.”

"She told me that this was a dream, a dream we shouldn't have entered. Although we couldn't get out on our own, we could accept her help."

As he spoke, Scout lightly slit his neck with his hand.

"She killed me, and then I woke up. I heard some noise coming from Mr. Undead's side, so I rushed over."

Not just Scout.

Even Sharp, who was standing next to him, spoke up.

"I was killed by Miss Graceia."

Sharp's voice is very calm and steady; you can tell at a glance that he is a reliable and mature operator.

“I restarted about sixteen times. The last time, I met Miss Graceia, who helped me clean up the entire camp and then told me that to wake up, I either had to find the key to leaving the dream or be killed by her.”

“Deepsea hunters also enter dreams, but they are fully aware that they are living in a dream. And the weapons they wield can bring others who are still in a dream back to reality.”

"In her words, she gave us liberation."

"Like Scout, after I regained consciousness, I heard noises coming from Mr. Undead's room, so I came straight over."

Are deep-sea hunters able to stay awake in their dreams?

Neither Kal'tsit nor Carmen were hearing this news for the first time.

"And what about them?"

Kal'tsit then pressed on with another question.
