She saw a shadow.

409. The Uninvited Guest

The danger lurking that night was something no one was aware of.

The first person to come into contact with her was none other than Kal'tsit, who had been conducting her experiments in the main camp all along.

Kal'tsit put down the instruments in her hands and turned her head toward the tent door.

She subconsciously suppressed her breathing, and her body seemed to freeze in time, so that even the slightest sound reached her ears.

The sounds of the wind outside the tent and the raindrops hitting the tent were amplified in Kal'tsit's ears.

She was trying to find the scent of danger within it, something imperceptible to ordinary people, lurking in the shadows...

Gradually, the sound of raindrops and howling wind began to subside.

Amidst the cacophony, as loud as a basket of peas being dumped on the ground, a heavy, slow breath reached Kal'tsit's ears.

At the same time, there was also the sound of a thumping heartbeat.

At that very moment, shadows surged beneath Kal'tsit.

Oh!

The massive weapon tore through the reinforced fabric of the tent and launched an attack on Kal'tsit directly from behind.

From the shadows on the ground, a sleek, black monster emerged, appearing as if it had materialized behind Kal'tsit in an instant.

It not only blocked the attackers' weapons, but also emitted a faint, dim yellow light that seemed to emanate a dangerous aura from within the monster's mouth.

Kal'tsit's voice was as firm as a rock, without the slightest fluctuation.

“Mon3tor”.

Mon3tor suddenly opened his mouth, and a deep, raging fire surged from his dark body.

The flames were heavy and viscous, and they stuck firmly to the ground as soon as they touched it.

The attackers' weapons were also covered in thick flames.

The attacker, unperturbed, slightly jerked his arm, causing his weapon to vibrate against Mon3tor's stiff claws, creating a gap large enough for him to retreat.

He leaped backward and plunged once again into the deep darkness.

Thanks to the flames spewed by Mon3tor, Kal'tsit could make out the general shape of the weapon that was stuck together by the flames in the darkness.

This shape... is it an anchor?

The man stood silently in the heavy rain.

The rain pounded on the anchor in his hand, and it took a while to extinguish Mon3tor's sticky flames.

Kal'tsit slowly turned around, still sitting in her chair.

"Your Excellency certainly knows how to choose your timing, attacking the Iberian National Church Legion in the dead of night during this torrential downpour. I must say, you've picked the right time."

Kal'tsit was testing her; she didn't reveal her identity immediately, but instead disguised herself as an inquisitor of the Church of England.

Sure enough, no matter what you say when you try to probe like this, the other party will reveal a considerable amount of information.

"The Iberian Church hasn't had a judge like you in nearly fifty years. But if you insist on saying that, can I interpret it as Rhodes Island choosing to join Iberia?"

The attacker's voice was hoarse and shrill, clearly a deliberate alteration of his voice; no normal person would have such a throat.

Of course, we cannot rule out the possibility that something happened to his health that forced him to communicate with people in this voice.

"Rhodes Island, which has always maintained neutrality, has actually chosen a faction as its base?"

“It seems I have indeed arrived at the right time.”

Kal'tsit ignored the sarcasm in the other person's words. She tried to glean some valuable information from their words, but only a little.

Kal'tsit then ordered Mon3tor to continue blocking her way, and she spoke again.

"Upon arriving at this camp, we chose our first target. Not those weak Anglican soldiers, nor our Rhodes Island operators. We chose a clear-headed individual."

"The guy sitting in the main tent is usually very valuable. If he can kill you, it means the entire camp may be paralyzed."

The man tilted his head slightly and looked towards the square.

Kal'tsit couldn't see his gaze clearly, and had no idea where he was looking.

"Moreover, I don't even need to lift a finger now. The threats lurking in the dream will come knocking on my door."

This person seemed to have a very good understanding of the nature of dreams. According to him, dreams posed a far greater threat to Kal'tsit and the others than he himself did.

However, he was a clear-headed person.

Kal'tsit remained silent, while the attacker continued speaking.

"Do you really think that dreams are just dreams? They are merely a window, and each of you is a window. The more people come in, the denser the holes in reality become."

"Do you really think that your arrival will help the Iberians solve their problems?"

"The truth that the Church of England couldn't uncover after decades of effort, can Rhodes Island really stop all of this from happening in a week, or even a month?"

“This heavy rain has enveloped you, and you will all live under this rain until His gaze departs.”

"Until they lose themselves in his words and become believers in the abyss."

He aimed the anchor in his hand at Kal'tsit.

“I cannot allow this to happen. I need to address these potential threats as soon as possible, before you all become completely entangled in it.”

Kal'tsit's expression gradually turned serious.

However, although the attacker in front of her said a lot of things, including some threatening language, she was still deeply hurt.

But Kal'tsit's intuition told her that the person in front of her probably didn't come here to kill.

He was more like reminding Kal'tsit to prepare for certain things in the future.

Just as Kal'tsit was pondering, the attacker in front of her rushed forward.

Mon3tor, which had not yet received its master's command, hissed and used its claws and body to block the attacker's attack.

The tent was sturdy, standing firm even in such wind and rain. But the clash between the two tore the tent to pieces.

The gash torn open by the giant anchor grew larger and larger, and with the collision of Mon3tor's claws and the anchor, the books and some tables in the tent were exposed to the heavy rain.

Kal'tsit stared intently at the attacker in front of her.

She could sense that Mon3tor still had energy left to deal with his attacks, while his opponent was also handling them with ease.

There was absolutely no indication that they intended to drag Kal'tsit herself into the battle.

Their fight was like children playing around; it was all just for fun.

But even such a struggle is enough to attract the attention of others.

In the midst of a heavy rain, the sounds of rain and wind might obscure some traces. But the light leaking from the tents can leave a very conspicuous beam in the air.

A battle blade emerged from the darkness beside Kal'tsit, about to strike the attacker's arm.

The attacker tilted the anchor in his hand, and his fist, hidden at his side, suddenly slammed into the Rhodes Island elite operator who had suddenly joined the battle.

A shield steadily blocked the punch, and then the sword deftly slashed diagonally towards the attacker's ribs.

At the same time, Mon3tor's attack was also timed precisely to block the attackers' retreat.

However, the attacker was no ordinary person either.

The sword that was supposed to tear a gash in his body was easily twisted away by him as he turned around.

The anchor in his hand slammed down on Mon3tor's claws.

The sound of steel shattering metal exploded in the ears of the three. Mon3tor lost his balance in the attack, his body emerging from the shadows shifting backward at a great angle.

Sharp's shield was subjected to a fierce impact.

The man kicked Sharp's shield, but used the recoil to jump out and land steadily on the ground several meters away.

His hidden power began to show at this moment, and he was even able to overpower Mon3tor in terms of strength when facing both Mon3tor and Sharp at the same time.

Sharp wanted to launch another attack, but Mon3tor extended one of its claws and blocked Sharp's path.

"Wait, don't rush."

Kal'tsit instructed Mon3tor to stop Sharp, while she herself spoke to the attacker again.

"What else do you know about the deep sea? What happened to Agor, and who are you?"

Kal'tsit threw out several questions in a row, and of course she didn't have any hope that the other party could actually answer them one by one.

But this might make the battle more or less meaningful.

"Who I am is not important. Agor is weeping now, suffering the disaster that was foreseen when it was built, but it has never given up its last hope."

"The one who calls you is nothing but a false god, a puppet baptized in true darkness."

"Even so, you still have no way to get away from the sea."

“When you hear His voice, you can no longer escape His sight.”

"For the rest of the time, await the arrival of your offspring from the deep sea, who will extend a warm welcome..."

He had barely finished speaking when he abruptly turned his head and looked into the darkness beside him.

Kal'tsit and Sharp followed his gaze.

The man stared into the darkness for a long time, then let out a soft chuckle.

"I didn't expect there to be an uninvited guest besides me?"

"What you've hidden isn't simple, or is there someone he's paying attention to?"

The attacker spoke as he backed away.

His gaze was hidden in the darkness and not obvious.

When Kal'tsit and Sharp turned around, he was already more than ten meters away from them.

"I'm waiting to see your ugly struggles, or to show me the courage to resist."

Sharp only realized what was happening at that moment and took two steps forward.
