Ark Undead

A javelin pierced through the gap between the group, impaling all the abyssal monsters blocking the two people in the corridor.

A terrifying temperature rose between bursts of lightning, and after a crackling sound, the steel gun melted all obstacles in its path.

Then a streak of light flashed before Melantha's eyes and pierced the door frame in front of her.

The lightning covering the gun body was like a fluid, instantly exploding outwards from the steel weapon itself.

The fierce electric current lingered near the door frame, creating a section of lightning that was impassable.

Melantha's straight sword was briefly affected by the lightning. Fortunately, Melantha reacted quickly enough, taking two steps back to avoid the lightning's effects.

Melanza took two steps back and felt a hand pull her back, giving her exhausted body a supportive backrest.

"How's it going? Everything's alright, right?"

Kal'tsit's voice gently rang in Melantha's ear, its tenderness and strength almost making Melantha not realize that it was Kal'tsit.

Melantha looked back with some surprise and uncertainty before confirming that it was Kal'tsit who had spoken.

When did Dr. Kal'tsit start speaking so gently?!

Was this all just a dream?

"No...it's nothing."

Melantha quickly calmed herself down and gasped for breath. The flames that had been flowing from the blade toward her arm receded and returned to the blade itself.

Her body was still too weak. Even when she recreated the weapon that the Undead had forged for her with the Primordial Flame in her dream, she still couldn't easily wield it.

The Nightmare's power was also very strong. Melantha only managed to resist it for a few dozen seconds before she showed signs of exhaustion.

Not to mention that she also had to constantly watch out for the flames burning away the black mist that tried to get close to her, all of which were extremely mentally taxing.

It's perfectly normal that Melanie is finding it hard to keep up with this kind of exertion.

In the one or two seconds it took for the two to exchange words, several more javelins tore open two or three cracks from the other side of the corridor.

Amidst the violent roar of spreading electricity, the javelin, crackling with golden light, sank deep into the corridor floor.

The same golden figure flew over the swaying horde of sea monsters pouring out of the room and landed steadily.

Kroos forcefully pulled the javelin out of the ground and hung it on his back.

Now, Kroos looks like a spirited girl, with wide eyes, slightly furrowed brows, and a slight tremor in her body.

"How about it!"

"What do you mean, 'how is it'? Dr. Kal'tsit has been rescued. Do you know which way to go?"

Melantha no longer cared about casually chatting with Kroos; she quickly took control of the conversation.

"With so many monsters, how do you still know the way?"

Kroos's face immediately fell. She thought her performance just now was good enough to earn Melantha's praise.

Seeing the instant gloom on Kroos's face, Melantha quickly placed her hand on Kroos's head and rubbed it twice.

"Xiao Ke is very capable, very capable indeed. But now is not the time to praise Xiao Ke."

Kroos managed to regain some of his composure, then looked around before finally pointing to the sign on the wall.

"there!"

Melantha and Kal'tsit turned their heads at the same time and saw a line of text written on the wall in a script Melantha couldn't recognize, followed by an arrow.

"Where is this...?"

Melantha was just about to confirm the direction they were heading when she heard Kal'tsit speak.

"The emergency exit leads back to the previous floor."

Before Melantha and Kerber could recover, Kal'tsit took action.

She lifted a child by the back of their neck with one hand. Then she walked towards the direction of the sign.

The two children stared wide-eyed as if their fate had been seized by the neck, watching themselves suddenly move.

"The ninth floor is a storage area, where all kinds of storage materials and items built for the experimental area are stored."

"I need to go over there to find something that can help deal with this monster. It will also allow you to continue upwards and find people up there."

Kal'tsit is no longer as slow as before; she is now decisive and efficient.

Moreover, her tone carried many other implications—was it relief or confusion? No one could say for sure, including herself.

Melantha and Ceobe were even more bewildered; neither of them could comprehend that this was something Kal'tsit had done.

Before Mon3tor could even react, Kal'tsit had already run two meters away when Mon3tor finally caught up, floating behind Kal'tsit like a stand-in.

“Child, remember this well: never try to return to the tenth floor until you find someone stronger than yourself.”

"If you encounter undead or other deep-sea hunters, try to keep going up. There's another big guy up there that you'll have to deal with. You don't need to worry about me until I take care of this woman on the tenth floor."

Kal'tsit spoke like a true mother, her tone full of instructions, as if her child were about to embark on a long journey.

"Did you understand?"

Melantha and Kroos were still trying to figure out what had happened.

Melanie asked subconsciously, somewhat bewildered.

"Dr. Kal'tsit?"

"Call me Kal'tsit... never mind, I'm not young anymore, do as you please."

Seemingly realizing that she wasn't in a good mental state, Kal'tsit didn't keep carrying the two of them around.

When they finally reached the entrance to the ninth floor from the tenth floor, she put the two of them on the ground.

"Did you understand? If you understand, then run on your own."

Melanie wanted to find out exactly what had happened.

"Kal'tsit... I understand, I understand!"

But when Melantha didn't respond to Kal'tsit immediately, Kal'tsit reached out her hand again, as if to grab the back of their necks.

Melantha quickly nodded in response.

Seeing that Kerber did not respond, Kal'tsit turned to look at Kerber again.

Surprisingly, Kerber, who was always fearless, actually nodded obediently and spoke earnestly when facing Kal'tsit.

"I will find the Undying Stun!"

"So nice."

Kal'tsit gave an unusually strange smile, then reached out and ruffled the heads of the two of them.

This smile sent shockwaves through Melantha's eyes. She feared that once she left the dream and Kal'tsit returned, she would be killed by Kal'tsit to silence her.

Then they saw Kal'tsit put her hand into her pocket.

She searched her pockets for a long time but found nothing. Finally, she seemed to find something in the inside pocket of her jacket.

"Oh, there are still some."

As she spoke, Kal'tsit pulled out three items wrapped in special packaging paper.

"One for each person, it's a reward for good kids."

Kal'tsit handed the candy to the two of them and said with a smile.

"Eat up!"

Melanza glanced at Kroos.

Ceobe decisively tore open the wrapper and threw it into his mouth.

So Melanie gritted her teeth and threw the candy into her mouth.

The originally hard candy melted immediately after entering their mouths, turning into a sweet, watery substance that mixed with the saliva in their mouths.

After flowing down the esophagus into the stomach, a warm current spreads from the abdomen and flows into the limbs and bones.

Melantha was surprised to find that her energy expenditure had been completely restored by the effect of this candy.

"Dr. Kal'tsit, this is...danger!"

Melantha was about to subconsciously ask what it was when she saw a tentacle reach out from behind Kal'tsit like a shadow.

At this moment, Kal'tsit still had a kind and friendly smile on her face.

In the blink of an eye, the sharp bone blade severed the originally extremely fast tentacle. The severed tentacle was then pinned to the ground by another bone blade, and the power on it seemed to return to Mon3tor's body, causing it to completely wither away.

Kal'tsit reached out and pinched their cheeks again, then kept her smile.

"Now that we've rested enough, let's run."

Don't turn around.

Kal'tsit reached out and pushed the two of them toward the stairs.

Melanie was still a little worried and wanted to look back one more time, but Kroos grabbed her arm.

"Don't worry!"

"Keopatra said with great confidence."

"It's Kal'tsit, Mother, back!"

"??" Melantha really didn't understand what Kroos was talking about, or why she was calling Kal'tsit "Mom".

"Hey, let's go, let's go find the Undying Stranger!"

Then, Melantha was dragged by Kroos towards the upper floors.

Only a figure with a full head of white hair remained standing at the top of the stairs, smiling and waving at them.

In a daze, the white luster in her hair seemed to dim.

Between light and shadow, it slowly seeps in, becoming a deep black.

434. The Approaching Storm

Only after Melantha and Kroos had completely disappeared from sight did Kal'tsit lower her waving right hand and turn her head.
