Ark Undead

"Could you please give me a little extra sweet and sour sauce? Thank you."
After carrying the iron plate over from the other side, Greyhound spotted a familiar figure in the crowd.
W.
She seemed isolated; no one sat next to her.
However, Greyhound has seen this situation many times in the past few days.
Kal'tsit originally wanted to arrange for W to rest with a certain Rhodes Island operator.
But it wasn't just that Rhodes Island operator who was somewhat resistant; W also didn't want to stay with others.
Finally, Laurentina suggested sharing a room with her. After all, there were three of them, and if one of them didn't share a room, it would be a bit crowded.
Moreover, no one wants to deal with Deepsea Hunters; Skadi has already demonstrated their danger.
In a sense, the current W is similar to Deepsea Hunter.
But after thinking for a while, W declined Laurentina's invitation.
However, she stated that she did not dislike Laurentina, but rather that she was used to living alone and did not want to cause Laurentina any trouble.
So, with a hint of regret in Laurentina's eyes, W moved into the room alone.
In the days that followed, Greyhound only saw her in the cafeteria.
"Oh."
Greyhound carried his plate over to W and sat down next to her, then casually patted her on the shoulder.
W paused for a moment while cutting the fried fish, and responded without looking up.
"Ah."
Greyhound tossed the plate he was holding onto the table, then picked up his knife and fork and casually poked at the fried beans in front of him.
Seeing these things, he really lost his appetite.
But W doesn't seem to think that way.
W's hands moved quickly with the knife and fork; a piece of fried fish couldn't last more than a minute in front of her.
We've almost finished the sauce we used for dipping.
"You ate pretty fast."
The greyhound said listlessly, forked a piece of bean, dipped it in the sauce next to it, and put it in its mouth.
W looked up and glanced at the greyhound.
Aren't you hungry?
"I'm almost sprouting, I'm starving."
The greyhound chewed on beans, which were originally covered in sweet and sour sauce, but in his mouth they were as hard to chew as wood.
Although the outer layer of sauce provided him with a brief moment of sweetness, the subsequent astringent taste of the beans brought him back to reality.
"Now I'm starting to understand why people crave sweets when they're feeling unwell."
Are you feeling unwell?
W asked again.
"Scout doesn't talk to you? He seems pretty easy to get along with."
"Indeed, after all, we've known each other for a long time. But he couldn't withstand my relentless bombardment."
The greyhound is very self-aware.
"I feel like I've been acting a bit neurotic lately, like the world has slowed down in front of me."
"In my perception, we should have been at sea for a long time, not just a short while."
What's the date today?
After speaking at length, Greyhound asked W the same question again.
W stopped chewing the fried fish, looked up, and rolled her eyes at the greyhound.
Then he reached out, took out the terminal, swiped the screen twice, and showed it to Greyhound.
"Today is the fourth day since we set sail, and it is now 6:18 PM Terra time."
W brought the screen close to the greyhound's face, as if he wanted to shove it into his eyes so he could see it clearly.
"Did you see that? Look at it more carefully. Also, don't you have your own terminal? You asked me the same question at lunch."
Greyhound stared blankly at the screen W handed him, then pushed it back.
The beans in my mouth were becoming increasingly tasteless, and I could even feel that they were slowly oozing out a flavor similar to the patty soup I had drunk before.
"I know, I know."
Greyhound sighed, cut off a piece of fried fish, dipped it in the sweet and sour sauce next to it, and then put it in his mouth.
Although it's fried fish, the chef still put a lot of skill into frying it.
The tenderness and crispness were both preserved in this fried fish, and the sweet and sour sauce enhanced the flavor, bringing Greyhound a brief moment of joy.
It must be said that this chef's technique for frying fish is quite good.
"Speaking of which, have you seen your older brother these past few days?"
The greyhound asked casually.
"Ok?"
W looked up at the greyhound with a puzzled expression.
"No one's dying, my older brother. I haven't seen him for several days now, and I feel a bit strange and miss him."
Greyhound cut off another piece of fried fish and put it in his mouth.
W thought for a moment, then shook her head.
"No, Mr. Undead shouldn't need to eat, right? I've never seen him eat anything. The same goes for that lady; they don't seem to need any food intake."
"That's true... I guess he's enjoying a rare moment of peace and quiet, and taking the opportunity to relax."
W didn't pay much attention to the fact that no one was dying. After finishing what was on his plate, he stood up with the plate in his hand.
"I've finished eating, I'm going back to my room now. You keep eating."
"Tsk."
Greyhound didn't say anything, just sighed, nodded, and then stood up with his own iron plate.
He really had no appetite.
W happened to be passing by the greyhound when it stood up. Neither of them noticed, and W was bumped to the side.
The knife and fork in plate W flew into the air, causing gasps from those around.
The knife spun in the air for a moment, then fell straight down, its slightly sharp blade striking the wooden floor before settling quietly on the ground.
What are you doing!
W glared at the greyhound.
The greyhound quickly apologized.
"Sorry, sorry, I didn't notice where you were just now."
Luckily, we had fried fish today. If it had been something with broth, it would have ended up on the cafeteria's wooden floor.
"Be careful, you haven't been acting right lately, you should get some rest."
W knew that Greyhound hadn't been in a good mental state these past few days, and his tone gradually changed from fierce to calm.
"Thank you."
The greyhound bent down, picked up the knife and fork that had fallen to the ground, and put them back on W's plate.
Greyhound sat down again after watching her put the plate in the recycling bin and leave the cafeteria.
However, as he sat down, he glanced down at the floor.
Apart from some small particles left from fried fish, there were no other traces on the wooden floor.
It appears that the wood used for the Arke was also of an extremely sturdy type.

What's the date today?
"Today is the fifth day since we set sail, and it is now 5:41 PM Terra time."
Scout showed the watch on his wrist to the greyhound.
The numbers above clearly show the current date and time.
Scout leaned against the bed, sighed, then put away his watch and closed his eyes again.
"I told you, Greyhound, stop asking me such stupid questions. This is the sixth time you've asked me this question today. This isn't how you should be."
Since yesterday, Greyhound has been asking Scout about the time.
This made Scout seem a little upset, as if he was affected by the greyhound.
Greyhound could tell that Scout wasn't in a good mood and knew that what he had been doing was a bit annoying.
"I'm sorry, I really..."
The greyhound, somewhat bewildered, returned to its own bed from Scout's side, then lay down and stared at the familiar ceiling above its head.
He has been here for five days, but those five days have felt like five months.
It's not that time really passes that quickly, but rather that he has a strange sense of unease that makes him unable to be content with the status quo.
Even though it's time to rest, the greyhound just can't fall asleep.
Yesterday was the same. After returning home in the evening, Greyhound patiently read the entire book, and when he looked back at Scout, he instinctively wanted to ask him about the time.
