To clarify, Baki and the martial arts style that exists in reality are based on the Japanese Shaolin Temple style. However, in the world of Kengan Ashura, this style uses the name Paolinji. Because the worldviews are integrated, I've chosen Paolinji as the general term, which also distinguishes it from the Shaolin Temple in my country. The historical origins of this martial art will be discussed in the next chapter and subsequent stories.

Section 523, Chapter 517: Ha, Martial Arts

The referee quickly announced the result and called for medical staff: "Quick, come up here! Guin has broken his arm!"

Unexpectedly, Kengo Misaki waved his hand and said, "There's no need for that. Although I hit him a bit too hard when facing a strong opponent, his arm wasn't broken. It was just on the verge of breaking. He'll wake up in five minutes... This is what's called the Paolinji Fist."

Although Kengo Misaki is a bald monk, he achieved a perfect victory with impeccable style!

There were no high spirits or exciting scenes, but the entire audience applauded Misaki's performance, and even most of the fighters backstage acknowledged his talent.

Kanon and Doppo both applauded Misaki, saying, "That was a beautiful match."

"Young man." Perhaps due to his age, Yudi Dubu was quite talkative. He asked "Hua Jin," "Are you Chinese? Do you know anything about this Paolin Temple boxing style?"

Hanon scratched her head. Her martial arts knowledge was no match for the "God of Martial Arts." However, when Yuji Doppo asked her if she was Chinese, could it be that the Paolin Temple Fist had some connection with Chinese martial arts?

"It can't be Shaolin Kung Fu, can it?"

“You guessed right~” Yudi Dubu laughed: “It really is related to your Shaolin Temple.”

It turns out that the founder of the Paolin Temple boxing style in this new world was named Zongtangzhen. He was obsessed with martial arts from a young age and went to the holy land of martial arts, China, to study when he was young. He studied under many famous masters, including a master from the Northern Shaolin Temple, and learned superb martial arts skills.

After World War II, Sodo Chin returned to Japan and founded his own school, Paorin-ken, based on Northern Shaolin Kung Fu. Its hard techniques (striking techniques) and soft techniques (joint techniques) became famous throughout Japan, and it became a very popular martial arts school. It even developed a feud with the top karate dojo, Rokujin Kaikan, which led to a series of battles and the emergence of many martial arts heroes.

Because Zongtang Zhen's martial arts lineage originated from the ancient Shaolin Temple, many of the disciples of Paolinquan are monks—after all, Japanese monks are not prohibited from marrying! In addition, Zongtang Zhen came to China before the Japanese invasion of China and returned to his homeland after Japan's defeat, experiencing that special period in its entirety. Therefore, he has a deep affection for the land of China. Although he established branches in Japan and followed a path very different from Chinese martial arts, Paolin Temple and the Chinese Martial Arts Department have always maintained close ties and frequent exchanges.

"At tonight's conference, wasn't that Retsukai-oh from China very powerful?" Yuji Doppo told Hanon, "Actually, the number one fighter at Paolin Temple right now isn't the heir of the main family, nor is it this Misaki Kengo, but the martial arts instructor known as the Silent Sea King—the Chinese Sea King of the Japanese fighting world, hahaha."

"I see, thank you for the explanation." Communicating with a senior like Doppo Guji was much more comfortable than talking to Yujiro Hanma, so Kanon was happy to get closer to him: "I've learned something new."

Yuji Doppo also quite likes "Joaquin". He is powerful and humble, and this senior has a lot of stories to tell. He just needs someone willing to listen.

"Porinji Kenpo is a Japanese martial arts style, but it originated from Chinese martial arts," Doppo said. "But our Japanese martial arts have also influenced the martial arts world abroad... Look at the contestants for the next match."

The final showdown in Zone C is about to begin, and the contestant in the Xuanwu position has already entered the arena on the big screen.

"It's São Paulo Silva from Brazil." Hana read out the contestant's introduction: "His style is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu."

“The origin of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the ancient Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, and it can be said to be a brother or sister to Judo, with a deep kinship.” Yuji Doppo explained again: “Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is also a fighting technique that has emerged in recent decades. It is young and effective, and almost all the sparring fighters who have achieved good results in the field of free fighting use Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.”

"Now entering the arena is Silva, a three-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu open-weight champion. He's incredibly skilled and undefeated against other martial arts!"

"Amazing, amazing." Hanon clapped a few times for Doppo's commentary and Silva's record, then asked, "So, what about his opponent?"

Emmm...

Silva's opponent is the enigmatic Jack Van Ma.

"The street fighter of Canada, everything is unknown..." The old martial god was also troubled: "I don't know anything about him."

However, Kanon and Doppo exchanged a glance and both saw a consensus in each other—this Jack is very strong!

Jack is indeed strong, standing at 193 cm and weighing 116 kg, a very high weight class, significantly stronger than Silva's 17 cm height and 91 kg weight. However, that's all. In the realm of martial arts, this gap isn't insurmountable. Didn't Baki defeat the Titan? And didn't Kengo Misaki just defeat a strongman twice his weight?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu excels at subjugation and joint breaking, and is one of the martial arts that least considers heavyweight divisions!

Therefore, Silva showed no fear and launched an attack as soon as the match began.

A high kick from below! It was very threatening, but the attack range was too narrow. Jack stepped back slightly and just avoided the chin.

But Silva's kick was just a feint; Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu isn't good at striking techniques—the grappling is the main course!

Silva did manage to grab Jack, but the next second he was shocked because the expected ground battle did not come. No matter what Silva did, using all sorts of techniques—entangling, tripping, kicking his shin—it was all ineffective. Jack just wouldn't move, as if welded to the ground.

“Ha, martial arts…” Jack took a deep breath, then raised his hand to grasp Silva’s face and pushed forward. A tremendous force surged forth, overwhelming him. Silva’s hands and feet, which had been gripping Jack’s body, were cleanly severed from his body.

"Is this the way of martial arts?" Jack's eyes were bloodshot, as if he hadn't woken up properly and couldn't muster any energy. This attitude was an insult to his opponent!

...If he had a choice, Silva would probably prefer this insult to continue forever.

Because Jack then opened his eyes wide, revealing more bloodshot eyes and the terrifying power within his body.

Jack released his hand from Silva's face and then threw a punch with his other hand.

One punch, just this one punch, landed on Silva's chin. Such a vital blow undoubtedly signaled the end of the match.

But that's not enough.

A tremendous force shot straight to Silva's head, then shot up into the air as if something invisible was dragging him, making him fly up and spin, spin, spin 360 degrees, that is, roll a full circle, before crashing heavily to the ground.

"Thump!" The sound of him hitting the ground was so heavy; just how terrifying was the force of that initial punch...?

The power of a single punch is truly astounding!

With such an effect, it goes without saying that Silva should be grateful if he didn't die. The outcome of the match didn't need to be announced at all. The referee simply said, "The match is over," and then called for people to carry Silva away for treatment.

Jack should have been off the field too, but he wasn't.

It wasn't that he didn't want to leave, but someone was blocking his way.

Yujiro Hanma.

Section 524, Chapter 518: Observing and Participating in the Battle

"Ah, who am I? Where am I? What am I doing here?"

“I remember now! I am a five-time Muay Thai champion, traveling in Japan, and I encountered that man near the side entrance of Tokyo Dome.”

"He challenged me, arrogantly accepting the challenge with two fingers. I was furious and attacked him..."

This renowned Thai expert, who had been practicing for many years, described what had just happened to the doctors who came to his aid. At this point, he paused, and then his whole body began to tremble uncontrollably.

"My prized kicking skills were completely blocked by him with just two fingers. And with a casual flick, my chin suffered the most devastating blow of my career..."

"That evil spirit..."

That demon was none other than Yujiro Hanma, who had now returned to the underground arena of Tokyo Dome and stood before Jack Hanma.

This shocked many people.

"Hey, Yujiro's a man who doesn't know how to be patient." Doppo rubbed his chin, quite intrigued. "Is it because Jack's performance was so amazing that he can't wait to fight him?"

Even more excited was Baki. First Joaquin, then Yuu Tenn, and now Jack. Yujiro valued all these people more than his own son Baki. How could he let the boy, who both respected, feared and hated his father, not be affected?

Of course, Yujiro doesn't care what others think; he only does what he wants to do.

He asked Jack, "You inject steroids, don't you?"

This type of hormone drug is banned. Although it can promote muscle growth, it can lead to serious health problems, putting excessive strain on the human heart and multiple organs.

"Your strength is not bad, but are you willing to sacrifice tomorrow for victory?"

“Ha, are you mistaken?” Jack actually laughed: “As long as we can win, who cares about longevity?”

"Good answer." Yujiro was delighted. He had just returned from "eating snacks" and was presented with such a delicious "main course." It would be an insult to fate's gift if he didn't seize it immediately.

Yujiro has made a move.

But someone was faster—Baki! He had already kicked out first, hitting Jack.

Baki is also a top-tier fighter. He attacked in anger, and this kick landed on Jack's throat. The damage must have been considerable... but Jack didn't budge.

"Damn it! Who gave you permission to lay a hand on Yujiro!" Baki roared, his complex emotions from the night finally erupting: "What right does someone like you have to fight this man?"

"Ugh, how ugly..." Kanon, watching the match on the big screen, couldn't help but rub her forehead: "Baki is just throwing a tantrum like a child. Who Yujiro is fighting is none of his business."

Yuji Doppo glanced at him and said, "Young man Joaquin is not old, but he speaks with an air of maturity."

As for the arena, Jack calmly responded to Baki: "You can't beat him, but you dare to stand in front of me and attack me, which is commendable... I'll just say one thing: the right to fight Yujiro Hanma is not limited to you."

After saying these words, Jack seemed somewhat disheartened and no longer wanted to fight Yujiro, so he turned around and left.

But Yujiro won't let him go. Is Jack someone who can just leave whenever he wants?

"Hey kid, where do you think you're going?"

"Huh? Dad—" Baki was startled. For a moment, he forgot that he rarely called Yujiro "Dad." But before he could even utter the word, Yujiro slapped him, sending him flying. He rolled two or three times, crashed into the fence, and bled from his mouth and nose.

Yujiro Hanma swatted his son away like a mosquito, showing no pity whatsoever. He stared at Jack and said, "Don't listen to the child's nonsense. Let's continue... huh?"

Yujiro was unaware of Jack's murderous intent, but he saw Jack approaching him.

Jack whispered something in Yujiro's ear, like uttering a spell, and Yujiro's surging fighting spirit suddenly vanished.

Instead, his face lit up with excitement and joy. Yujiro grinned, "He certainly has the right to challenge me!"

From the best seat in the first row of the audience, Tokugawa Mitsunari silently watched everything unfold. The old man smiled and said, "It seems I guessed right. Jack Hanma is indeed the son of Hanma Yujiro!"

Well, actually, the answer isn't hard to guess. Or rather, Jack's surname is ambiguous, and with Yujiro and his behavior, anyone who's interested can make a rough guess with just a little thought. However, whether Jack is Yujiro's son or not is actually not important to anyone outside the Hanma family.

Everyone is busy and has their own things to do. Unless they are extremely bored, who would spend so much energy gossiping about the melodramatic love-hate relationship between fathers, sons, and brothers?

Although the first round of the tournament has entered its final stage, there are still four matches to be played in Zone D!

The first match to be played is between Hanon, no, Joaquin and Tennyu.

"Brother Joaquin, I wish you great success." Yuji Doppo stood up and offered his blessings to the junior he had been chatting with for a long time: "That Tianyou is very strong, you have to be careful."

"Okay, thanks." Hana stood up, tidied her makeup, and after making sure that vigorous exercise wouldn't give her away, she strode towards the entrance.

This will be Kanon's first official match tonight.

Before she even appeared, Tianyu had already stepped onto the ring.
