Those time travelers that year

As for the orc gods, that was entirely accidental. Orcs, with their style completely different from Voban's, were naturally wiped out by Voban in a matter of course. And the consecutive killing of four legendary orc chieftains was even more of an accident. Voban initially killed one by chance; the other three were targeted by the orc gods on orders for revenge. Unfortunately, the orc gods misjudged Voban's individual strength, and the three legendary orc chieftains were utterly crushed by the werewolf-transformed Voban.
Having suffered a loss, they were determined to get revenge. The orc gods had already begun plotting to send down several divine avatars to settle scores.
At this time, the voters gathered in Silvermoon City to discuss matters, mainly after a friendly exchange between a certain great sage (gentleman) and his friends, and then formulated a response strategy.
Before Voban truly arrives in the civilized world with the undead scourge, they cannot mobilize an army to avoid misunderstandings among the noble class. However, they can send out a series of small teams to scout out the enemy's situation. If, at this time, another team of adventurers emerges capable of breaking through the endless abyss and rescuing the goddess, that would be ideal.
This is a perfectly normal response. After all, with civilization unable to develop under the suppression of the gods, it's unrealistic to expect a powerful nation to easily mobilize tens of thousands of troops. A force of more than a hundred people is enough to arouse the hostility of the local lord, and more than a thousand people would cause panic in a country or city-state.
However, for teams of a few or a dozen people, there is no problem.
Aside from the more radical harpists, who have begun secretly searching for a powerful artifact in hopes of reenacting the Hellgate incident if forced to do so.

The high-end, custom-made suit he was originally wearing had long been completely destroyed in the previous battle. Now, Voban was wearing equipment collected from the spoils of war. Mainly due to the connections he had made with hundreds of ruins and 'gathering places of influential people in society,' Voban was now wearing entirely magical equipment.
And it's at a fairly high level.
Because he wasn't used to armor, Voban didn't choose to put on a full set of plate armor, since it wouldn't be of much use anyway.
Voban is currently wearing a full set of magical leather armor, primarily black with brown accents. The left shoulder guard is shaped like a wolf's head, and two pairs of sharp claws extend from the wrist guards on his hands. Combined with the dark red lining, Voban exudes a wild and untamed aura, like a savage wolf king.
Two enormous wolves, each larger than a man, always followed him. These wolves were even comparable in size to some adult dragons. Further away, in the shadows of the jungle, hundreds more wolves, lurking in the shadows, fueled by their bloodthirsty hunting instincts, helped Voban constantly search for their prey.
The terrifying undead army now spread across every corner of the mountains and fields, slowly advancing behind the wolf pack. Several legendary-level undead stood respectfully behind Voban, while three legendary-level corpse dragons roared as they soared through the sky.
As Voban moved forward, negative energy and the Force of Death swirled in the sky, creating a dark canopy that blocked out the sunlight.
This scene had already been relayed to various forces in the prime material world through various prophecies and even reckless reconnaissance. Gradually, a brand new prophecy began to circulate—
—A dark monarch, surrounded by wolves, with undead vengeful spirits close behind. Disaster is imminent; darkness will soon shroud the skies, and the calamity of the dead will finally arrive.

595. The so-called tabletop role-playing games
In the material world, there are many so-called prophecies, some true and some false. Of these, nearly 70% are nonsense, 20% are lies by bards or people with ulterior motives, half a percent are outdated, and the last half percent are the real prophecies.
This also shows how ridiculous prophecies really are. But then again, there will always be some fools who will take the 'prophecies' they hear on the street as truth and then happily start playing role-playing games.
Tabletop role-playing games (RPGs) are great! In the Material World, there's practically nothing a RPG can't solve. These amazing adventurers, given the chance, can become incredibly disruptive, turning all sorts of conspiracies, including but not limited to world domination, market manipulation, and political infighting, into laughable failures.
These adventurers, who are capable of slaughtering gods and demons when driven mad by a desire for a little gold and equipment, are an absolutely sharp blade. This also means that the struggles between the gods in the material world almost always involve these adventurers.
Only a very few, such as the angry young man Losanda, who prefers to do things personally rather than pay someone to do them, don't really appreciate these people who value money over their lives.
Since the old Marquis Voban created such a huge demon son in the material world, naturally some charlatan would attach such a prophecy to him.
The so-called Dark Lord, Bane was knocked down, and Voban took his place right after? What about "disaster is approaching, darkness is about to cover the sky, the catastrophe of the dead will eventually come"? Where did those prophets get their conclusions from? Speaking of which, because he doesn't know the specific direction, Voban has been lost in the wilderness for a long time, still quite a distance from the backward civilization of the Prime Material World.
So far, Lord Voban has only been wreaking havoc on the evil forces of the material world and fighting against a few individuals among the chaotic and evil raging gods. It's unclear how these prophets concluded that Lord Voban is the final boss of the major villain campaign.
Anyway, it was because of this inexplicable prophecy that some 'righteous' people (adventurers), driven by enthusiasm (money), and for the sake of love and peace (interests) in the material world, tirelessly prepared their own provisions and traveled thousands of miles into the dangerous wilderness to investigate the huge 'evil' that had suddenly appeared in the material world.
In the wilderness, survival professions like rangers, knights, and druids are far more adaptable to the harsh realities of life than ordinary mages. Because of this, teams organized by wilderness survival experts have begun venturing into the wild in droves.
Under normal circumstances, these guys would be in considerable danger, since those powerful figures in the wilderness would never easily let these 'righteous' powerful figures go.
But now...
Those powerful figures in the wilderness are now facing a huge problem, so big that even their superiors find it extremely difficult to handle.
Faced with a monster suspected of possessing the ability to devour divine power, the gods in the material world are utterly powerless.

Tauriel is a half-elf ranger, or more precisely, an advanced dual-wielding ranger. Although she is still skilled in archery thanks to her half-elf blood, she admires even more the dark-skinned, lead-filled gambling god who can slay dragons and demons with just a 'kitchen knife'.
In reality, many young adventurers today are deeply influenced by Cui Heipi's tea-making techniques, each believing they too are that lead-filled gambling god, capable of slaying dragons with a 'kitchen knife' in the future. Unfortunately, this remains nothing more than an unrealistic dream.
Although this half-elf ranger shares the same name as a female elf in a cross-species romance in the distant Middle-earth, it is clear that this ranger's circumstances are far less favorable than that of the other elf.
She's now a member of the Harpists, albeit a low-ranking one. The skilled Harpists have been dispatched elsewhere to find a powerful artifact, preparing for another Hellgate raid. As for someone like Tauriel, she's relegated to scout duty.
Thinking of this, the half-elf felt a pang of despair. Who wouldn't want to be in the limelight and become a famous hero?
But not everyone has the ability to become a hero; most will only become hapless failures on the road to heroism. Although it's a melee team, Cui Heizi's teammates are incredibly capable, but Tao Lier's teammates are clearly not so capable. Even though there is a pretty boy druid in her team, not every druid is Malfurion, who dares to confront the cosmic demolition team and rebel at such a young age.
The team consists of four people, a classic tabletop role-playing game. Besides the ranger Tauriel and the pretty-boy druid Hogg, there's also the halfling rogue Sam and the priest Boromir, who worships the god of courage... What classic names! I wonder if these names, popular in a distant world, can bring enough of a powerful aura to this world.
Life in the wild is always troublesome. None of the group is rich enough to own a villa and travel around. The only spellcaster is the druid Hogg. At least the water and fire squads are not lacking.
For a ranger with rich survival experience, they can live well in the wild, not to mention that there is also a versatile druid in the party.
After a quick breakfast, the team tidied up and continued their journey into the distance. Some might ask how the team knew their destination. It's simple: find a high vantage point and look into the distance; you'll see a few dark clouds in a certain direction against the bright sunshine.
With a druid around, there's no need to worry about getting lost in the wild.
“I still feel like something’s not right…” When they were very close to that gloomy area, the halfling in the group suddenly spoke up, “Tauriel, I’m not saying this to be mean, but it’s very clear that with our group, we really can’t make any difference.”
"We've come this far, are you still going to back down?" The ranger said irritably, glancing sideways at the thief. "Besides, we're not here to actually charge into the entire Scourge with just four of us and then take down the Great Demon King..."
"...We're just here to scout things out. We're not those legendary figures who can conquer the endless abyss," the ranger said, waving his hand. "But we can still contribute to the cause of justice as much as we can." Boromir, the priest who worshipped the god of courage, clearly agreed with Tauriel's enthusiasm for justice. The druid in the party obviously abstained, so it was two to one, the minority obeying the majority. The halfling rogue could only reluctantly continue what he considered an extremely dangerous journey.
596. The so-called copy
To be honest, halflings have a very high sense of danger, which is why thieves and burglars are more common among them. Compared to dwarves who are the same height but appear rather rough, these little guys have a remarkably accurate prediction of danger.
However, the halflings, with their keen sense of danger, clearly lacked sufficient eloquence; they were at least unable to persuade the half-elf leader, who still harbored heroic dreams, and the equally stubborn priest of the God of Courage. As for the druid, although he abstained, it was clear that no normal druid would like undead creatures.
And so this team of 'justice' continued on their way to their destination... Along the way, the halfling did try to persuade his teammates, but to be honest, his eloquence skills were lacking and he wasn't very effective.
The halflings quickly fell silent, as their squad soon encountered the undead. It must be said that those chosen for the scouting team possessed formidable combat power. Several high-level undead creatures were easily chopped into dust, especially since the team included a priest, meaning they wouldn't lack holy water for positive energy – a deadly threat to most undead.
Weapons coated with holy water are practically guaranteed to deliver critical hits with every strike, while splashing holy water directly on the head of an undead is equivalent to pouring sulfuric acid on an ordinary person.
Of course, it's also very possible that Voban himself had too many undead servants under his command, too many to completely control, so he simply granted some of them freedom. Then these idiots who gained some freedom obviously didn't know that ten elite monsters are stronger than twenty ordinary monsters, and directly began to expand the number of undead without regard to the cost, so that even when the number exceeded ten thousand, a large amount of garbage was stuffed into it.
But that doesn't matter. Sasha Dejansdar Voban has unknowingly completed a dungeon campaign map and successfully become a boss. He's much more capable than the sneaky Char who's up to no good.
Anyway, right now, President Xia is waiting to descend into the Endless Abyss while letting his projections run all over the world, specifically targeting those ambitious and extremely wealthy legendary mages (to reiterate, extremely wealthy legendary mages are not legendary mages), and selling them the divine essence he possesses.
With business going 100% smoothly, these ambitious individuals who were always dreaming of having sex with the goddess of magic, finally showed renewed vigor and ambition under President Xia's efforts.
They are now planning to learn from Lei's advanced experience, and have secretly gathered together to plot their scheme.
Especially the chief red-robed mages, with the example of the lich god Veshalun. This guy was incredibly lucky. He used to be just a defector red-robed mage—the so-called defection was probably more because he lost a political struggle and was hunted down. Everyone knows what kind of scum the red-robed mages are—but later, he received guidance from Talos in his research and ascended to godhood from mortal according to the methods taught by the Lord of Storms, although the Lord of Storms was more interested in creating a divine servant to be driven and exploited.
However, no matter what, he is now a true god with a sliver of divine power, and he also has a grudge against Sazarstan, a legendary mage and the chief of the red-robed necromancy school. Facing President Xia, even if it's just a projection, this guy has no chance of resisting.
However, Xia Er had no intention of harmonizing this guy. He simply gave him a choice: either be devoured by Xia Er now, or go to the Investiture of Gods and cause trouble for the gods of this world.
Faced with the truth that might makes right, Sazarstan wisely chose the latter. After all, the Lich God Veshalon constantly sought to kill him, and had even expanded his followers to include the Red Robes. Frankly, Sazarstan didn't want to face Veshalon's revenge one day. Similarly, he was even less inclined to confront a demonic god like the Charr.
With the idea of "enjoying the good times myself and sharing the bad times together," Sazastan secretly dragged the other red-robed chiefs into the mess.
Aznashul of the Evocation School, Dusukslem of the Transmutation School, Layrare of the Protection School, Lauzoriel of the Enchanting School, Misrella of the Illusion School, Nerong of the Conjuration School, Yefaan of the Prophecy School... Zazarstan quickly dragged his other colleagues and political enemies into the mess.
Then these people will have to face Ciel, and they'll still have those two choices—
Without exception, these ambitious (and eager) red-robed men all chose the latter.
Even after Ciel finished giving out the gifts, in order to deal with the likely suppression from the gods and the unscientific and unmagical tabletop role-playing games that would interfere with his plans.
Surprisingly, the chief members actually started to unite... Well, it seems that even the most wicked chief members in red robes have to admit that joining forces is better than being defeated one by one when faced with the temptation of becoming gods.
Having stirred up the world to this point, all that's left is to wait for the opportunity to get involved personally.
……
That said, the red-robed mages were not fools; they naturally learned about the big news that Voban had made through various channels.
Logically speaking, these conspirators wouldn't care too much. After all, with the huge trouble Voban has caused, those 'righteous' and powerful figures in society wouldn't keep bothering them.
But they are all mages!
In a world without computers, becoming a mage requires absolute genius. Becoming a legendary mage demands the cream of the crop, demanding time, luck, and opportunity—all three are indispensable. On Earth, these red-robed chiefs would be considered top-tier mad scientists.
Coupled with their extensive experience in political struggles, they naturally immediately suspected that Voban might be connected to Charles. They then secretly began making contact with Voban.
Although a tiny, insignificant misunderstanding occurred during the communication, the Red Robes quickly confirmed that Voban was indeed connected to Ciel. Or rather, this "monster" from another world, who had once slain gods, was indeed thrown into this world by Ciel.
In that case, 'cooperation (utilization)' is necessary.
While the Red Robe Chiefs had no way to resist, it didn't mean they couldn't stand up against the native gods.
On the other hand, for Voban, having a group of 'allies' in this strange world, even if they are temporary, is the best thing that could happen. In particular, after devouring Mara's divine roar, Voban could clearly feel his power increasing... If he could completely kill Mara and take his place, then he would be able to fully recover all his power in this world.
597. A tabletop role-playing game without the protagonist's halo
In fact, Sasha Dejansdar Voban has not yet been able to restore all his power. Of the powers he possesses, he has only restored two: [The Pack of Greedy Wolves] and [The Cage of Death's Servants].
Even with only two powers, in the current material world, aside from those hidden or sealed ancient beings, Voban is undoubtedly the most powerful. Powerful enough to intercept the descent of the God of Hunting, a feat that even a single Red-Robed Chief could not accomplish.
For evil people, strength is the greatest guarantee of their cooperation; all other contracts and such are just empty promises.
So after learning of Voban's existence, the several chief red-robed officials conferred and decided it was necessary to give him a push to attract the attention of the gods and make it easier for them to be deified quickly.
Among them, especially Ye Fa'an, as the leader of the prophetic school, has now glimpsed a bit of the future. Although she has paid a price for it, she has indeed seen a glimmer of crimson light.
That was the light that would destroy the entire Red-Robed Mage realm. In that glimpse of the future, the entire kingdom established by the Red-Robed Mages would be razed to the ground… The other Red-Robed Chiefs also learned of this part of the prophecy. They didn't doubt whether Ye Fa'an was lying, after all, this prophecy was foretold in front of them by others sharing the losses. Otherwise, Ye Fa'an alone would probably have been directly devoured and killed.
Faced with the impending destruction, the few chief red-robed mages, driven by self-interest, decisively chose to abandon their empire. The mere evil kingdom of the red-robed mages was to be destroyed; as long as the chiefs themselves survived, it could be rebuilt in the future.
If they become immortal gods, then the future Red Mage Empire might even surpass Netheril.
So, let the red-robed mages die... Who cares as long as those chief mages can successfully become gods? Of course, what if they can't escape their fate even after becoming gods? Do you even need to ask? They were only able to become gods because of the coercion of that evil god, right? At worst, they can just grovel before President Xia. The integrity of the red-robed chief mages is worthless anyway.
……
After their first encounter with the undead, the half-elf squad quickly encountered even more undead. It must be said, this squad was quite effective, repeatedly wiping out these outermost weaklings.
But now, even without any casualties, the team was utterly exhausted. Their reconnaissance mission was now complete, and they should logically leave immediately. However, the half-elf leader, Tauriel, felt a pang of reluctance.
This group of people only managed to kill some ordinary undead. These were obviously just summoned cannon fodder, of little use. The true core power was still far, far away.
