Chapter 273 SilverAsh's Negotiation (3K)
Eileen will probably never forget this day.
The most powerful person in Sherag at present, Ensiodis Shivaish, now the Saintess of Kalan, Enya Shivaish, and their sister, Ensia Shivaish. Also present are the mysterious doctor Lin Ye, who pushed her into the abyss and then rescued her; the tall and burly Shivaish family guard, Horn Peak; and Lin Ye's two lackeys (in Eileen's opinion), a total of seven people, who will judge her fate tonight.
Eileen wasn't surprised by this. After all, she was a member of the Eben family, though expelled for being utterly useless, she still bore the mark of the Eben family. The Shivaash family, on the other hand, was the Eben family's mortal enemy, and now she had fallen into the hands of her mortal enemy. Her fate was predictable; the worst that could happen was death.
Death meant nothing to Eileen now; it was more of a relief. She was fed up with her life. If tonight were the end of her life, she wouldn't feel much sadness.
It's just a little strange...
The strange thing was that she didn't quite understand why all these people had to crowd into her small tent to judge her. It was clearly a two- or three-person tent, but there were eight people crammed in there, including her.
The first to enter were the current patriarch of the Shivaish family and the mysterious doctor. Eileen could understand; after all, one of them was the Eben family's greatest enemy, and the other was the person who had changed her fate.
Next came the saintess and her sister, which Eileen could understand. According to the rules of Sherag, the saintess had to be present for any trial, and any verdict had to be approved by her.
Then came Horn, the guard of the Shivaesh family. Irene could still understand that the head of the Shivaesh family and the mysterious doctor were judging her. The saint nodded in agreement, but an executor was still needed, and Horn was that executor.
Finally, there's the mysterious doctor's companion. Eileen could still understand... but the tent clearly couldn't. The small tent for three people was crammed with eight people, and to outsiders, it looked like it was about to explode at any moment.
The people inside were all squeezed out of shape.
Lin Ye didn't know why things had turned out this way. He had originally wanted to comfort Eileen and tell her not to worry too much, but what was the point of comforting her now? He felt something poking his waist, and it hurt a lot. So he turned his head with considerable difficulty and saw Lappland's knife. He immediately glared at Lappland and shouted, "Lappland, your knife!"
What happened to my knife?
"That touched me!"
"So what if I poked you?" Lappland said dismissively. "Isn't it sheathed? It won't kill you."
"What the hell are you doing coming in here! It's already crowded enough, get out!"
"I'm not going out." Lappland glared at Lin Ye. "You're all in here. What do you think I am if I go out alone? A door dog? You think I'll bite you?"
"you……"
Susuru couldn't stand it anymore. She had only come in to check on things, but seeing how crowded it was, she really didn't want to stay any longer. Lin Ye and Lappland's argument gave her an excuse, so she tugged at Lappland's sleeve and said, "Let's go out together."
Lappland thought to herself that since she had company, she wasn't just a watchdog anymore, so she nodded, rolled her eyes at Lin Ye, and followed Sussuro out. However, even with two fewer people, the cramped feeling inside the tent wasn't significantly alleviated, so SilverAsh coughed twice.
"Horn, you should go out too."
Horn Peak wasn't there to watch the show; he directly voiced his concerns: "But I'm worried that this Aiben family member might harm you."
"Don't worry, don't underestimate me," SilverAsh said calmly. "It's just a little kitten, it can't possibly hurt me."
Cliffheart thought about it and realized it was indeed true. SilverAsh's strength was far superior to his, so he didn't hesitate any longer and left the tent. After the biggest guy left, the crampedness inside the tent was greatly relieved. He had been squeezed so tightly that he couldn't move, but now it was much better. SilverAsh could finally straighten his clothes properly; his trench coat had almost been squeezed into a tight-fitting sweater.
Although it was still a bit crowded, Lin Ye and Silver Ash didn't dare to ask Snowfall and Cliffheart to go out, so they endured it.
"Alright, now you can talk to me about your business." SilverAsh, having straightened his trench coat, seemed to have regained the demeanor of a Shiva Ash elder. He turned to look at Eileen, who was huddled in the corner, almost squeezed out of shape, yet still too afraid to speak, and slowly said, "Little kitty, is there anything you want to say?"
Lin Ye, who was listening from the side, felt somewhat speechless.
Why call someone a "flashy" kitten? Although Eileen is indeed a Feline, aren't you three siblings, Shivaash, also Felines? The only difference is between a big cat and a kitten.
SilverAsh asked Eileen if she had anything to say. Eileen neither dared to nor could she say it, and she didn't even have the courage to look SilverAsh in the eye.
“You weren’t like this when you first met me,” SilverAsh said calmly. “You were much braver back then.”
Lin Ye looked at Silver Gray with some confusion: "Before? Has she seen you before?"
“Of course.” SilverAsh looked at Eileen. “Back then, she wanted to get something from me with her body.”
SilverAsh's words made Eileen lower her head even further. Lin Ye was also surprised that SilverAsh could state the fact that the other person had violated him without batting an eye. If it were him, he certainly wouldn't have been able to say it so calmly.
Hmm, **the most powerful person in the Shiva Ash family,** it's such a cliché yet exciting plot. However, judging from Irene and SilverAsh's reactions, this attempt clearly failed. Compared to SilverAsh, a patriarch with an iron fist, Irene really seems like a clueless kitten; no wonder SilverAsh calls her that.
"You're from the Eben family, so why have you ended up like this?" SilverAsh asked again. "Were you expelled by Golden Eben?"
Eileen hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
"Why is that?"
Eileen did not respond.
"Even at this point, are you still going to defend Goldman Eben?" SilverAsh said coldly. "Do you think he's worth it?"
Eileen bit her lower lip tightly and didn't say anything.
At this moment, Ya Xin suddenly thought of something and said, "Is it because of Doctor Lin Ye?"
SilverAsh turned to look at his little sister: "Doctor Lin Ye?"
“Hmm… Brother, you don’t know this, do you? We saw her the day before we went to Saint Road. No, I should say Dr. Lin Ye saw her.” Ya Xin looked at Lin Ye. “Dr. Lin Ye was even bragging to us that he sold a lot of catnip.”
"Catnip?" SilverAsh frowned. "What's that?"
Lin Ye quickly took over the conversation: "It's just a local specialty from my hometown. Well, I did sell her some local specialties back then, and we even talked. I also gave her a discount because we were both from out of town, but that's all."
Chu Xue looked at Lin Ye with a hint of helplessness: "Dr. Lin Ye, think carefully about the scene at that time. Did she really just come to you to buy something?"
"Otherwise what?" Lin Ye said dismissively. "She couldn't possibly be here to seduce me, could she? If she is, then her skills are just too poor."
First Snow: "..."
silver gray:"……"
Eileen: "..."
Although Lin Ye didn't realize it, SilverAsh clearly understood. He looked at Eileen again: "You were expelled because you failed your mission against Dr. Lin, right?"
Eileen gripped her sleeve tightly.
“It seems that’s how it is,” Silver Gray said calmly. “But as Dr. Lin Ye said, your skills aren’t quite up to par, which is why Goldman Eben gave up on you. However, Goldman Eben has never been a philanthropist. Since he’s going to give you up, he’ll take back all the investment he made in you. Am I right?”
Eileen's body began to tremble, presumably as she recalled something.
“I admire your loyalty to Goldman Eben, even after what he did to you, you still refused to betray him. But you probably don’t know that this is not Goldman Eben’s limit. He has already regretted letting you go and has sent people to kill you.”
Eileen suddenly raised her head and glared at SilverAsh.
“It seems you really didn’t expect this,” SilverAsh said calmly. “This happened an hour ago. If you don’t mind the trouble, just go outside and take a look. Those two corpses are still outside. You may not recognize them, but I can tell you that they are from the elite unit of the border guards. To ensure your death, Goldman went so far as to recruit people from the border guards.”
As SilverAsh spoke, he gave Cliffheart a wink. Cliffheart understood and pulled open the tent flap, allowing Eileen to see the corpses outside.
“If it weren’t for Dr. Lin, you would be dead.” SilverAsh didn’t give Eileen time to react and continued, “Dr. Lin wanted to save you and went so far as to protect you outside the Shiva’s house. But this is not a long-term solution. Right now, the only one who can protect you is our Shiva’s family. If you nod, I can take you back to the Shiva’s mansion right now and treat your injuries with the best medicine. Alternatively, after the Three Races Council meeting, I can send you to Rhodes Island and have them heal your tongue.”
Eileen turned her head and looked into Silver's eyes.
SilverAsh said slowly, "Of course, the Shiva Ash family is not a charity. I need you to exchange intelligence for it. You should know what kind of intelligence it is. It's the intelligence that would make the Eben family risk deploying the border guards to silence you at this critical moment. I need it, and it can save your life."
Chapter 274 You are already the Holy Man of Kalan (3K) (42 chapters owed)
Whether it was expected or unexpected, Eileen shook her head and refused SilverAsh's offer. Although she had rejected Frostleaf's similar offer half a day earlier, it wasn't impossible for her to refuse SilverAsh again.
However, tonight's situation is different from half a day ago. Half a day ago, Eileen was only expelled by the Eben family. Although she was subjected to inhumane torture before being expelled, she was spared a way out after all. So it is not unreasonable for Eileen to be soft-hearted and think of the past.
But now that the Aiben family has made it clear that they want to kill her and don't want her to live any longer, she has once again refused to provide the Shivaesh family with information about the Aiben family, which is quite puzzling.
SilverAsh stared at Eileen, then slowly spoke: "Are you doubting that we're deceiving you? Do you think those two assassins outside weren't sent by the Eben family?"
Eileen shook her head.
"Then why are you still defending him so much?" SilverAsh asked. "Just because Goldman Eben bought you from the slave traders?"
Eileen was silent for a moment, then slowly nodded.
“But so what? You’ve just gone from one slave owner’s hands to another,” SilverAsh said coldly. “Do you think Goldman Eben treated you like a human being? No, do you think he treated you like a life? He only used you as a tool, maybe not even a slave.”
Eileen didn't respond; she just hugged her legs, lowered her head, and didn't dare to look at the others.
“Little kitty, this is Kjerag. There are no slaves in Kjerag,” SilverAsh said. “You have every reason and the means to change your fate. I only need one word from you… Oh, you can’t speak, then I only need you to write one line. As long as you write that line, you can live in the sunlight forever.”
Eileen still didn't react, and SilverAsh's patience finally reached its limit.
He stood up, leaning on his cane, and looked down at Eileen.
“I think you might not understand, so let me be frank with you. I don’t value your intelligence. It’s probably meaningless to me. Gordon Eben’s fate is sealed. The tri-race meeting in three days will be the final moment. He can’t turn the tide. Even if you help him hide the secret, even if you’re willing to pay with your life, I will still personally sever his head,” SilverAsh said coldly. “The reason I’m giving you this opportunity is purely because I admire your loyalty and Dr. Lin’s high regard for you. Otherwise, where you die, who kills you, and how you die are none of my concern.”
SilverAsh spoke with great force, and in his presence, Eileen seemed like a lonely, frail kitten.
"So I'm asking you one last time," SilverAsh said, emphasizing each word, "What is your choice?"
The tent was completely silent.
Lin Ye, Chu Xue, and Ya Xin all looked at Eileen with tense eyes, awaiting her decision and answer. They were all unwilling to see such a girl blindly loyal to a scumbag who had hurt her and now wanted to take her life.
Nod! Nod quickly!
Lin Ye almost shouted out what was on his mind.
Nod your head quickly!
Unfortunately, they didn't get the result they wanted. Eileen gripped her sleeve tightly, then firmly and slowly shook her head, indicating her stance.
At that moment, everyone's feelings were complicated.
I admire her blind loyalty, but I also feel sorry for it.
"So this is your answer." SilverAsh's tone was also flat, revealing no change in emotion. "That's fine too. I really didn't want to take in a dangerous person like you. But I do hope you live a long life, rather than seeing your corpse in some garbage dump someday."
Eileen kept her head down, as if she hadn't heard SilverAsh's voice.
Just as SilverAsh was about to leave, he turned back to Eileen and said, "Seeing you, I finally understand why so many Felins are enslaved."
Having said that, SilverAsh stepped out of the tent.
The remaining people exchanged glances, but none of them knew what to say.
"Um..." After a long silence, Ya Xin finally broke it, scratching her head and saying, "I think you should reconsider. My brother's offer is already..."
“Alright, Encia,” First Snow interrupted Cliffheart, “we should go back.”
"Oh, are you going back already?"
"Yes, let her rest well. We really have no reason to influence her will." Chu Xue patted Ya Xin's shoulder, then turned to look at Lin Ye, "Dr. Lin, what are your plans? Are you going to stay here?"
Lin Ye nodded: "I'll stay here."
"Is that so?" Chu Xue nodded slightly. "In that case, come out with me for a moment. I have something to tell you."
After saying that, Chu Xue led Ya Xin away from the tent. Lin Ye originally wanted to follow them directly. However, he was a little worried about Eileen, so even though they were almost out, he turned back and sat down next to Eileen.
"Don't think too much about it," Lin Ye said to Eileen. "You're not a bad person, and there's nothing shameful about following your own will."
