The girl slowly opened her eyes and found that everything in front of her was blurry.
The sound of rain echoed in my ears.
She sat up, tears welling up in her eyes. She immediately covered her eyes with her hands, rubbed them, and whispered, "Damn it, it's that dream again... It always happens on rainy days."
The girl felt upset.
She had been asleep, but now she was wide awake. She threw back the covers, got out of bed, and picked up the black robe beside the bed. She covered her beautiful, fair body and buttoned it up. Now, only a rather bloated-looking body remained. Then she picked up the pillow, put on the white demon mask underneath, and covered her excessively beautiful face, revealing only a pair of emotionless eyes and long white hair attached to the mask.
She packed her bags and left the hotel where she had originally planned to stay for a week.
As she stepped out the door, someone was waiting outside. The moment they saw her, they immediately bowed down, their faces filled with reverence: "'Ghost Seeker', you..."
Before he could finish speaking, the woman had already stepped into the rain and quickly disappeared from sight.
……
Lin Ye slowly opened his eyes and found that the light above his head was indeed quite bright.
"You're awake?" A calm voice sounded in his ear.
He turned his head and saw Skadi sitting on the sofa opposite him, arms crossed, looking at him, and asked, "How are you feeling?"
Lin Ye endured the soreness all over his body and sat up from the sofa: "It feels even more painful than yesterday. Is this normal?"
Skadi nodded.
This is really difficult.
Lin Ye sighed softly.
Skadi's training for him was very simple and brutal, just having him do some basic fitness exercises, such as push-ups and sit-ups. However, these exercises needed to be performed with the support of the wave-jumping technique, and Skadi had a way to get his body directly into the wave-jumping state.
With the help of the Wave Jump, these basic fitness exercises felt effortless. However, for Lin Ye, the biggest problem with the Wave Jump was always its duration. So Skadi used this simple exercise to have Lin Ye try to prolong the duration of the Wave Jump. To be honest, it was extremely painful, especially after the Wave Jump ended; he felt like his body was about to fall apart.
But there was nothing he could do; after all, he had decided to have Skadi teach him.
While Lin Ye was resting, Skadi suddenly asked, "Were you dreaming just now?"
Lin Ye was taken aback: "How did you know?"
“You’re talking in your sleep,” Skadi said. “But I didn’t hear you.”
"Is that so? Well, I thought I didn't have the habit of talking in my sleep." Lin Ye smiled. "But it wasn't a serious dream, just a dream about things from my childhood."
Skadi nodded, but she didn't know that Lin Ye had lied to her, which was unusual for him.
After all, Lin Ye couldn't tell her that what he dreamed about wasn't his childhood, but his past life.
The last moment of one's previous life.
Lin Ye didn't know why he suddenly dreamed about this, but he involuntarily clutched his chest.
It seems to hurt a little here.
Skadi noticed Lin Ye's subtle movements, but said nothing, appearing thoughtful.

Author's note: I suddenly felt like writing something of my own, so this chapter came about. I've completed 6,000 words for today, still 23 chapters to go.
Chapter 360 A Method to Cure Oripathy?! (Part 1)
"Let's not talk about that." Lin Ye sat up straight and said to Skadi, "I wanted to ask, have you ever heard of Halloween?"
Halloween?
"Yeah, it's that 'Ghosthunter' thing... Okay, judging from your expression, you've probably never heard of it." Lin Ye recounted what the White Owl had told him to Skadi, then said, "Since it's not far, I'm planning to go check it out. Do you want to come along?"
Skadi didn't immediately respond, but calmly asked, "So you're planning to give up on training? It's only the second day."
Lin Ye's expression immediately became somewhat unnatural: "I didn't say I was giving up, it's okay if I come back and practice again, right?"
Skadi sighed softly.
“I can’t stay on the island for too long,” Skadi sighed softly. “Although I know you’re not trying to skip training because you’re lazy, it does make things a bit difficult because I don’t know when the next break will be.”
Lin Ye knew Skadi was right. After all, Skadi wasn't him, and she didn't have much time to stay on the island. He had indeed wanted to rest on the island for a while, but he hadn't expected to run into the legendary "Halloween." Although it wasn't a mission for Rhodes Island and he didn't have to go, it was a good opportunity to treat Nightingale, and he didn't want to miss it.
So he gritted his teeth and said, "Then you can come with me. We can continue training along the way, right?"
"At a time like that, do you still have the energy to continue training?" Skadi asked.
"Why not? Don't underestimate me," Lin Ye said with a smile. "Besides, it's just a holiday. Even if something really happens, with you by my side, I won't need to lift a finger, right?"
Skadi sighed: "Your thinking is a bit too lazy, but it's not wrong either. If something really happens, just don't stray too far from me."
Lin Ye agreed, but then felt something was off. He was just going out of town for a holiday and to participate in an event, but it sounded like he was about to encounter some bad luck again. However, thinking about it carefully, in the six months he'd been on Rhodes Island, things had indeed happened every now and then. Could it be that he really possessed the legendary protagonist's destiny?
While Lin Ye was lost in thought, Skadi remained silent, her gaze fixed on Maple beside him. Lin Ye quickly noticed this, picked up Maple, and asked with some confusion, "What's wrong? Why are you staring at it?"
Skadi said, "I've been thinking about which fighting style would suit you best. At first, I thought I'd have you learn the same fighting style as your ancestors."
"With my ancestors?"
“Yes.” Skadi nodded. “However, that kind of fighting style has been lost for a long time, and even I don’t know much about it. Moreover, that kind of fighting style was created to fight against giant creatures in the deep sea, and it may not be suitable for the enemies you will face in the future.”
"...Then what should I do?"
“Let’s focus on that sword,” Skadi said softly. “The power I feel from that sword is no less than that of any enemy I’ve ever encountered. A deity on land is indeed a very powerful being. If I have the chance, I would like to fight her.”
Lin Ye had already mentioned Messiah and Maple to Skadi, but now, hearing Skadi bring it up again, he couldn't help but smile wryly: "You're being a bit too belligerent."
“I’m not warlike,” Skadi shook her head. “I’m just a little curious.”
Is fighting the way to satisfy curiosity? That's clearly belligerence.
Lin Ye thought this to himself, but didn't say it aloud.
Skadi then said, "You said before that this knife can use other people's abilities?"
"Hmm." Lin Ye nodded, placed [Maple] on the table, and then took out a blue test tube from his pocket and placed it in front of Skadi. "This is a toxin made by Blue Poison. If you sprinkle it on the blade, [Maple] will absorb the properties of the poison and become a poisoned knife."
Skadi said, "I think even an ordinary knife would have the same effect if poisoned."
Lin Ye thought about it and realized that it seemed to be true. In this light, it seemed that the property of [Maple] absorbing blue poison was a bit useless... Of course, not considering those other things, the combat effectiveness of [Maple] after being poisoned was definitely very strong. According to Blue Poison, as long as the skin was scratched, except for some races with special poison resistance, ordinary enemies would basically lose their combat power directly.
So Lin Ye directly asked Blue Poison for a considerable amount of specially made toxins. After all, these were much easier to store than Nightingale's [Sanctuary] and Shining's [Doctrine Stance], so it was always good to have more on hand. Moreover, after obtaining these toxins, Lin Ye felt that he had instantly transformed from a harmless little veterinarian into a deadly poison master.
"Use poison?" Skadi looked at the toxin in the test tube and said softly, "That's quite characteristic of the deep sea. It's widely applicable, but if you encounter a sufficiently powerful enemy, I don't think poison is a very reliable method."
"It's enough to deal with most enemies," Lin Ye said with a smile. "Besides, I'm not just good at that. I've told you before, haven't I? Before I go out, I always make sure to go to Liz and Shining to replenish my [Sanctuary] and [Doctrine Stance]."
"Fighting by borrowing the power of others?" Skadi pondered. "That is indeed the fastest way to improve your strength. As long as the power you borrow is strong enough, your own strength will also be strong enough."
Although Lin Ye knew Skadi was right, he still felt something was off. Fighting by borrowing someone else's power? It sounded like something out of a tokusatsu drama. Should he throw two vials of reagents into the air and shout, "Blue Poison-san, Liz-san, lend me your power!" in the future?
Hmm... I feel a bit of inexplicable stupidity and embarrassment about it, but it is indeed very practical.
“If this is your fighting style, then you should collect more of these properties,” Skadi said. “Rhodes Island has many operators, and many special properties. The more properties you collect, the stronger you will be. Combined with Leap Strike, you can indeed defeat most enemies on land.”
"On land?" Lin Ye asked. "And in the deep sea?"
Skadi sighed softly, seemingly helpless: "How can I possibly persuade you not to consider the monsters of the deep sea as enemies? You don't need to be their enemy; that's my job. Those little bugs you encountered before were just the weakest creatures in the deep sea. You won't have a chance to defeat the real monsters. Although you won't even come across them."
He said the same thing as the Messiah.
Both Messiah and Skadi warned Lin Ye to stay away from the monsters in the deep sea, and after this experience, Lin Ye roughly understood why they said that. Indeed, Lin Ye really didn't want to encounter those strange and powerful creatures again.
But then again, if it weren't for Skadi, why would he have bothered with those things?
Of course, he still didn't say this aloud. Instead, he coughed twice and changed the subject: "Not all properties of [Maple] can be absorbed and used. For example, you can't."
This is also what Lin Ye regrets. Besides Messiah, the strongest people Lin Ye knows are Shining and Skadi. He's already tested Shining's [Dogmatic Stance], and it's practically invincible. But he can't do anything about Skadi's abilities. This is probably because all of Skadi's skills are designed to enhance herself. Whether it's Leaping Wave or Tidal Lament, it's all the same. Therefore, she doesn't possess the properties that [Maple] can absorb, and Lin Ye can't rely on [Maple] to use Leaping Wave or Tidal Lament.
“If I can’t do it, there are others,” Skadi said calmly. “Besides, I can teach you my abilities directly. You can’t learn Tidal Lament, but you just need to take Leaping Wave Strike a step further. That’s why you’re training now, isn’t it?”
Skadi seems to become much more serious than usual when training is mentioned.
Lin Ye had no choice but to nod and say, "I understand," like a primary school student being scolded by his homeroom teacher.
After chatting with Skadi for a few more minutes, Lin Ye left the office. After all, the dormitory was where he lived, and it would be strange if he didn't return to his dormitory today as well as he hadn't gone back last night. So even though he was so tired that he wanted to collapse and sleep, he still dragged his weary body slowly back to his dormitory.
But to his surprise, someone was already waiting for him at the dormitory entrance.
Upon seeing that person, Lin Ye immediately dared not move forward, and even had the urge to turn around and run away.
Because that person is... Warfarin.
When Lin Ye saw Warfarin, Warfarin also saw him and waved to him. Now, even if Lin Ye wanted to run, he couldn't. He could only pray that this vampire lady wasn't there to cause him trouble before bracing himself and walking towards Warfarin.
"Good evening, Dr. Warfarin." Lin Ye forced a smile, then asked with a hint of hope, "Are you here to see Ansel?"
Warfarin shook her head: "No, I came to see you."
Lin Ye sighed inwardly as his hopes were dashed, then asked, "Why did you come to see me so late? Is there something you need?"
Warfarin's expression was very serious. She looked into Lin Ye's eyes and then slowly said, "Dr. Lin, there is something I must tell you, but I hope you are not afraid."
"Huh?" Lin Ye was taken aback. "What is it?"
Warfarin said slowly, "I have discovered a virus in your blood that I have never seen before."
Lin Ye's lips twitched slightly: "No, really? There's a virus in my blood? Are you kidding me?"
"Of course not, why would you think I would joke about something like that?"
"What kind of virus is that? I feel perfectly fine," Lin Ye said with some concern. "I haven't felt anything unusual."
“Because it’s a virus I’ve never seen before, I don’t know what effect it will have on your body,” Warfarin said. “But just to be on the safe side, I think we should continue the research. You wouldn’t want any strange stuff in your body, would you?”
Lin Ye nodded repeatedly: "That's true, so what should I do?"
“Leave it to me.” Warfarin patted her chest and said, “I’m the best doctor on Rhodes Island, even Kal’tsit can’t compare to me. Just give me a little more blood… no, a sample, and I can analyze it very quickly.”
"Oh, how many samples do I need?"
"Not much, not much, not much." Warfarin took out the large syringe she had prepared beforehand. "Just give me one syringe. I can go back and study it all night tonight, but this sample probably still isn't enough. Come to my office tomorrow morning and I'll collect a little more. I'll collect a little every day from now on. It won't affect your health, don't worry."
"How long will it take to collect the samples?"
“Of course, until the analysis is complete,” Warfarin said. “Quick, quick, put your hand out, I’ll start now.”
