As Lappland spoke, she took out cakes, roast meats, and other food from the food cart, but didn't touch the drinks laced with the drug. Luther didn't know if Lappland had noticed or simply disliked it, but he didn't dare ask. He could only help Lappland place the items on the tray and wish her a pleasant meal.
"Okay, that's enough." Lappland nodded with satisfaction, holding the tray full of food. "You can go now."
Luther said goodnight with a sigh of relief and was about to leave with the food cart when Lappland called him back once again.
"Wait a minute."
This time, Luther didn't think much of it. He simply turned around, smiled, and looked at Lappland: "What is it, guest? Is there anything else you'd like..."
Before he could finish speaking, Lappland interrupted him in a casual tone: "I just wanted to ask, do Rupo warriors also work as waiters?"
Luther's smile gradually froze.
“I always had a feeling that my people weren’t the kind of people who would settle down easily, especially when they were doing this kind of work serving others.” Lappland, holding a tray, stared at Luther and said slowly, “Have I seen you before, or… were you once my enemy? Because I smell a familiar scent on you.”
Luther was speechless, his mind filled with shock and...fear.
So... he was already recognized from the very beginning?
At this moment, Lappland seemed to have transformed from that silly goose who kept yelling "Awooooo!" or rather, he had returned to being the warrior with the name "Silver White," his pure silver eyes sharp as knives.
...So, what will happen next? Luther's heart pounded.
Will the "Silver Wolf" take care of him here? Take care of his former mortal enemy?
Luther thought to himself.
But as it turned out, he was wrong.
"Whatever, I'm too lazy to fight you guys here." Lappland gave him a deep look, tossed out a sentence, and turned to leave. "Only if you don't come looking for trouble with me and my friends. Otherwise, I'll definitely chop off your head, understand?"
The door was closed.
Luther stood in the corridor, a chill running down his spine.

Chapter 378 Good morning, Skadi (4K)
"What did you say?!" Rusar stared at Luther with wide eyes. "Say it again, who's in this hotel?"
Luther said, "That 'Silver Wolf' lives in 322..."
"How could that be!" Luther was interrupted rudely by Rusar before he could finish speaking. "How could she be in a place like this? You must be mistaken."
Luther had already anticipated Rusar's reaction, after all, the damage the "Silver Wolf" had inflicted on Rusar was even greater than his own. He'd only lost half his buttocks, while Rusar... well, seeing Rusar's reaction, Luther couldn't bear to think any further.
“I wasn’t mistaken, Boss,” Luther said in a low voice. “She was standing right in front of me. I could see her face clearly and smell her scent. It was definitely her, Boss. No one else could put that much pressure on me.”
As he said this, Luther suddenly thought of the "Vampire Seeker" in room 357. Thinking about it carefully, the pressure the "Vampire Seeker" exerted on him seemed no less than that of the "Silver Wolf." However, since the "Silver Wolf" had already appeared, Rusar wouldn't pay much attention to the "Vampire Seeker" anymore, so Luther didn't mention it again.
Rusar's reaction was exactly what Luther had expected. Upon hearing the words "Silver Wolf," his expression changed drastically, completely disregarding their mission objective, the "Demon Seeker." After all, without the "Silver Wolf," they wouldn't be able to capture a "Demon Seeker" in this place. The "Silver Wolf" had driven them out of Syracuse, forcing them to become wandering bounty hunters.
Rusar remained silent for a full minute before slowly speaking: "'Silver Wolf' recognized you?"
Luther thought for a moment and said, "I'm not quite sure either. She doesn't seem to remember who I am, but she guessed that I was her former enemy."
Rusal immediately tensed up: "What did she say? You just came back like that? She didn't lay a hand on you?"
If you were to lay a hand on me, I wouldn't be sitting in front of you anymore.
Luther cursed inwardly but dared not say it aloud, after all, Rusar was his boss. He could only say respectfully, "No, the 'Silver Wolf' doesn't seem to care what we're here for, nor does she intend to attack us. However, she still warned me."
"What warning are you giving me?"
“He warned me not to get any funny ideas about her or her friends,” Luther said in a low voice. “That’s pretty much his exact words.”
Luther's words were like a shot of adrenaline to Rusar, who immediately felt much more relaxed: "That's good, we didn't plan to take action against the 'Silver Wolf' either."
Luther's lips twitched slightly: "But there's still one problem, BOSS..."
"Hmm? What's the problem?"
“Our mission target this time, that ‘Ghosthunter’ lady…” Luther looked at Rusar cautiously, “seems to be a friend of the ‘Silver Wolf’.”
Rusar fell silent once again.
This silence lasted even longer than before. Luther didn't know how much time had passed before he heard Rusar's voice, almost squeezed out through clenched teeth: "Go and get that bastard Kazan! What kind of opponent has he given us?!"
The last few syllables were practically roared out by Rusar.
Luther nodded and immediately got up, preparing to go to the next room to call Kazan over, but just as he was about to leave, Rusar called him back.
“Luther, although I know the ‘Silver Wolf’ is indeed very powerful,” Rusar said slowly, gazing at Luther’s back, “don’t you think that being scared out of your wits just by looking at it is a disgrace to the Lupo tribe?”
Luther's expression immediately changed.
……
Ten minutes later, Kazan strolled leisurely into the house.
"My old friend, have you succeeded?" Kazan looked around as soon as he entered the room, as if searching for something. "As expected of you, you managed to capture the 'Ghosthunter' so quickly... Uh, where is she? Are you going to hide her away again? Want to negotiate the price with me some more?"
Kazan spoke in a joking tone, but to Rusar at this moment, such a joke sounded like mockery.
He immediately grabbed a cup from the table and smashed it over Kazan's head. Kazan was startled and quickly dodged, so the cup hit Luther, who had followed him into the room, squarely on the head. Luther was caught off guard and wanted to get angry, but seeing that it was Rusar who had done it, he immediately fell silent.
However, he dared not be angry, but Rusar was.
"You piece of trash!" Rusar yelled. "What use are you if you can't even dodge this?!"
Luther: "..."
Kazan sensed Rusar's anger and immediately dropped his joking tone, asking, "What's wrong, old buddy? What happened? Why are you so angry?"
"You old bastard! Are you deliberately trying to trick us?!" Rusar yelled at Kazan. "Was any of the information you gave us correct except for the room number?!"
"What...what are you talking about?" Kazan asked, his face full of confusion. "What intelligence is wrong?"
"Who is the man in the 'Ghosthunter's' room?! Why is she associating with the 'Silver Wolf'?!" Rusar roared. "And this is only what we've discovered. How much more haven't we found? Could there be two Sarkaz living in the room next door?!"
"What... what exactly is going on?"
Kazan was even more bewildered. Seeing that Rusar was so angry he didn't want to talk anymore, he could only turn his gaze to Luther. Luther sighed softly to himself. Having such a boss and such an employer was truly exhausting for him as a henchman. However, he was exhausted but there was nothing he could do. He could only suppress all his displeasure and tell Kazan the whole story.
After hearing this, Kazan looked even more incredulous: "This... how is this possible? 'Ghosthunters' always work alone, and I've never heard of them being accompanied by others, let alone more than one person... This is completely impossible."
“If we hadn’t seen it with our own eyes, we might have believed your nonsense,” Rusar said. “But the fact is, these people really exist. Are you in such a hurry for us to take action tonight because you want to see my men recklessly die?!”
Kazan thought to himself, "I never told you to take action tonight. It was just an experiment. I never expected to be able to deal with that young lady from the Guigu family with drugs. It's clearly you, Rusar, who insisted on trying, wanting to make the most money with the least effort, and then you failed and now you want to blame yourself, the employer. It's completely unreasonable."
Ugh, I should have known better than to hire these unreasonable Lupo people. They're just a bunch of exiled mafia members banished from Syracuse, yet they act all high and mighty. Who's the employer and who's the employee? I should have just spent more money to hire a reliable bounty hunter. I heard the Deepsea Hunter, who's currently ranked high on the bounty hunter list, is pretty good, but unfortunately, I can't get in touch with him, and he doesn't seem to like taking these kinds of jobs.
Then again, the only ones willing to take on this kind of swindling and deception work are these exiled mafia members from Syracuse.
Kazan cursed Rusar a thousand times in his mind, but on the surface he remained calm and even smiled in the face of Rusar's insults: "If the intelligence was wrong, then I am willing to apologize to you."
"What good is an apology?" Rusar said coldly. "If apologies were useful, what would be the point of having police... or us mafia members?"
“I will provide compensation.” Kazan knew Rusar’s nature well and said directly, “Money is a small matter. We shouldn’t let this damage our friendship, don’t you think?”
Seeing that Kazan was willing to compensate, Rusar snorted coldly and stopped cursing.
Seeing this, Kazan continued, "In that case, we should discuss our next strategy. Before that, I'd like to ask, how powerful is this 'Silver Wolf' you mentioned?"
Before Rusar could speak, Luther interjected, "It's not a matter of whether she's good or bad, she's the kind of person who's very special and very powerful. She was the one who got me and the BOSS together back then..."
"Cough cough cough cough..." Rusar coughed violently, giving Luther a friendly look, warning him to stop talking. Luther wisely shut up, and then Rusar slowly picked up the subject, "She's an old rival, with some strength. We had quite a few conflicts back in Syracuse. We were about to defeat her, but unexpectedly, this girl hired outside help, as you probably know. Hiring outside help is unforgivable in our Rupo tribe, but she did it anyway..."
Hearing Rusar's explanation, Kazan nodded: "I see. It seems we're old rivals after all. You could call this a case of enemies meeting on a narrow road?"
Rusar hummed in agreement and said, feigning nonchalance, "Indeed."
Kazan laughed: "Isn't that a good thing? We can settle all our old and new scores at once."
Rusar's composure crumbled instantly, but he couldn't say anything, so he gave Luther a look that conveyed his meaning. This left Luther feeling quite helpless. He wanted to ignore Rusar's gaze, but he didn't dare. He could only cough twice and then brace himself to prepare an explanation.
But at that moment, Kazan slowly raised three fingers, smiled, and said, "I'll pay three times the price."
Rusar's coughing suddenly became even louder.
Kazan said softly, "I think that's enough to show my sincerity, don't you think, old friend?"
Luther was about to speak when Rusar raised his hand to stop him.
After a moment of silence, Rusar nodded and said in a deep voice, "Okay."
……
Lin Ye opened his eyes and then felt that his vision was a little blurry.
He reached out and rubbed his face, wiping away the liquid that was obstructing his vision. Then he sat up in bed, staring blankly out the window. It wasn't fully light yet, but it was clear it was just before dawn. Judging from when he went to bed last night, he had gotten up quite early today, and hadn't slept for more than a few hours.
Because he dreamed about his past life again. Although his past life was quite boring, it was indeed extremely mundane compared to this life. He grew up in an ordinary way, went to school in an ordinary way, raised a bunch of cats in an ordinary way, and finally died in an ordinary way... ah, dying suddenly from a heart attack doesn't seem ordinary either, but overall, his past life was indeed ordinary, nothing special.
But when I recall it, I still feel sad, especially in my dreams. I always wake up from a dream with tears streaming down my face, which is very difficult.
I can't sleep anyway.
Lin Ye got up, wanting to go out for some fresh air or have breakfast. However, when he got out of bed, he saw Skadi on the other bed and couldn't help but pause in surprise. He had almost forgotten that he and Skadi shared a room, even though they had chatted for a while before going to sleep last night.
And Skadi in front of him... this was the first time Lin Ye had seen Skadi asleep.
She was lying on her side, a thin blanket covering two-thirds of her body, leaving the remaining third exposed. Her soft, long, greyish-white hair cascaded down like a waterfall, almost taking up two-thirds of the bed. She slept like this, her body rising and falling slightly with her breathing, giving Lin Ye an unexpectedly…soft feeling?
Lin Ye felt that "soft" was the perfect word to describe Skadi right now. This woman, so assertive in normal times, was so soft when she was asleep, giving off... to put it in a more cliché way, like a sleeping cat. Lin Ye had owned seven cats in his previous life, so he had more to say about cats than most people.
He looked at Skadi now, just like many years ago when he woke up to find several cats sleeping soundly beside him. It was a very subtle feeling, wasn't it? Back then, his first words upon waking were things like, "Good morning, little brother," or "Good morning, angel," depending on who was closest to him.
Ah… I'm thinking about those cats again. The two things Lin Ye worried about most after coming into this world were whether his parents would accept his sudden death, and what would happen to his cats? After losing him, would his parents still have the energy to take care of them?
They're all stray cats; even if you gave them to someone else, they probably wouldn't want them.
Lin Ye sighed softly.
If only he could bring them into this world, he could continue to take care of them.
As Lin Ye was thinking this, he saw Skadi in front of him move. He looked up and found that Skadi had opened her eyes at some point and was looking at him.
