“I didn’t see anyone else,” Nightingale said.

"Well, I see."

Lin Ye casually responded.

"Egg liquid, salt, sugar..." Under Nightingale's watchful gaze, Lin Ye slowly added the seasonings, muttering, "By the way, how much sugar was it again?"

"What?" Nightingale didn't hear clearly.

"It's nothing." Lin Ye shook his head, then thought for a moment, grabbed a handful of sugar from the jar, put it in, and muttered, "So what if I die? Desserts have to be sweet to taste good, that's for sure."

Nightingale watched Lin Ye's actions with some curiosity.

After a flurry of activity for twenty minutes, Lin Ye placed a large lump of dough in front of Nightingale, then wiped his sweat with satisfaction: "Why don't you give it a try?"

The nightingale was puzzled.

“You can shape it however you like,” Lin Ye said. “That way, it will look exactly the way you want it when it comes out of the oven.”

He had assumed the nightingale would be interested, but to his surprise, she shook her head.

“I don’t want to pinch it,” Nightingale said. “I just want to eat it.”

Lin Ye: "..."

Forget it, I'll do it myself.

Lin Ye looked at the large lump of pale yellow dough, pondered for a while, and then began to knead it.

"Look, this is a mountain." It was sculpted into a mountain.

"Look, this is a lake." The lake was shaped into a long strip.

"Look, this is a zongzi (sticky rice dumpling)." It was shaped into a palm-sized piece.

"Look, this is a cloud." It was shaped into an irregular object of unknown form.

Lin Ye was intently kneading it, while Nightingale was intently watching.

After kneading the dough, Lin Ye remembered that the next step was to use a scraper or mold to create the pineapple pattern, but he searched for a long time and couldn't find a scraper or mold. Then he thought that since it was just a decorative pattern, he could probably use his hands, so he used his fingers to carve grooves into the oddly shaped dough.

Then I realized it felt a bit nauseous.

Lin Ye hesitated for a long time, not knowing how to save the dough. He thought to himself that he had followed the instructions in the book exactly, so why was there such a big difference? The chef must have missed a few steps. Hmm, that must be it. It has absolutely nothing to do with him.

"That's fine then." Under Nightingale's gaze, Lin Ye coughed twice and then placed the plate of dough in the oven.

What temperature should I set the oven to?

Lin Ye felt that this issue could not be taken lightly, so he said to Nightingale, "Look, lotus flowers are flying in the sky."

The nightingale raised its head, and Lin Ye immediately took the notebook and opened it to that page.

"180 degrees, half an hour, OK."

Lin Ye tossed the notebook aside again and found Nightingale looking at him.

“I didn’t see lotus seed paste,” Nightingale said.

"Ah, I must have misread it," Lin Ye said dismissively while adjusting the oven's temperature and time. "She occasionally comes to the cafeteria for a short visit."

"That's amazing."

"Yes."

Can pineapple buns fly?

"No, I only know how to make pineapple buns." After pressing the confirm button, all that's left is to wait.

The only sound in the kitchen was the oven running.

Lin Ye couldn't find a stool in the kitchen, and didn't want to go to the cafeteria to get one, so he sat down on the floor in front of the oven. Soon, Nightingale sat down next to Lin Ye.

"Pineapple buns are amazing," Nightingale said to Lin Ye. These six words were probably the sentence she said the most all night.

"I'm not that great," Lin Ye said softly.

“She’s clearly amazing; she can do everything,” Nightingale said. “She can do anything.”

Lin Ye turned to look into Nightingale's eyes, thinking that if he could, he truly wished he could know everything and do everything. Or perhaps everyone thought that way, but in reality, in the world of Terra, he was a weaker human than Nightingale, a Sarkaz.

Half an hour later, the oven made a "ding" sound.

Lin Ye opened the oven and stared at the plate of pineapple buns, lost in thought.

So what exactly are these dark yellow, strip-shaped, lumpy things? Why do they look so disgusting?

Nightingale eagerly joined in: "Is this a pineapple bun made from pineapple buns? It's amazing!"

Lin Ye felt his shame growing exponentially: "Don't say that, I think I messed up."

"Did you mess it up?" Nightingale tilted her head, asking in confusion, "Why?"

"This is basically a complete mess." Lin Ye poked at the bread with his finger, looking quite embarrassed. "I don't know why it turned out like this."

"I want to eat."

"Given the situation, let's not eat it."

"It looks delicious."

“I don’t think so,” Lin Ye sighed. “Since you want to try, then try it. But wait a while, it’s still too hot right now.”

Nightingale nodded obediently, but her eyes never left the strangely shaped pineapple buns.

Ten minutes later, before Lin Ye could even speak, Nightingale picked up one of the bread pieces and began to nibble on it.

Lin Ye immediately looked at Nightingale nervously: "Wh-how is it?"

Nightingale's eyes narrowed: "It's delicious."

"This stuff will taste good?" Lin Ye naturally didn't believe it.

"The pineapple buns made from pineapple buns are delicious," Nightingale said after thinking for a moment. "They're even better than other pineapple buns."

I ate three pieces in a row.

“The pineapple bun is amazing,” Nightingale said again.

Lin Ye couldn't resist, so he took a piece, put it in his mouth, and took a bite.

His eyes narrowed, not because it tasted good, but because it was sickeningly sweet, like eating a huge lump of white sugar. Coupled with the terrible taste, Lin Ye almost vomited.

"Stop eating! Stop eating!" Lin Ye immediately snatched the "pineapple bun" from Nightingale's hand. "It tastes awful."

"Disgusting?" Nightingale looked puzzled. "Why would Pineapple Bun think its own pineapple buns taste bad?"

Lin Ye sighed, "Okay, okay, I shouldn't have lied to you. I don't know how to make pineapple buns at all. They're just plain bad. You don't need to comfort me anymore."

"Comfort?" Nightingale shook her head. "I wasn't comforting Pineapple Bun."

"So you really think it tastes good?"

The nightingale nodded.

"It's already so sweet, how can you still think it's delicious?" Lin Ye still refused to believe it.

"It's already so sweet, why do you think the pineapple bun tastes bad?" Nightingale asked. "Isn't the sweeter it is, the better it tastes? This pineapple bun is sweeter and tastier than any other pineapple bun."

These tongue-twisting words left Lin Ye speechless.

"Then eat it if you want," Lin Ye said with a hint of helplessness. "Anyway, it's not burnt, and even if it tastes bad, it won't harm your health."

Watching Nightingale continue to enjoy those awful pineapple buns, Lin Ye felt a pang of unease. He then returned to the table, thinking he'd try again, this time making sure to do it better.

However, just as he finished preparing the ingredients, an angry roar came from the cafeteria exit: "What the hell are you doing?!"

Lin Ye was shocked to find the angry cafeteria worker charging towards them with a rolling pin.

"Stop eating, Liz!" Lin Ye took off running and pulled Liz up. "If you stay behind, you'll get scolded."

"Get scolded?" Nightingale tilted her head, somewhat puzzled. "Why would I get scolded?"

Lin Ye didn't know how to explain it to Nightingale. Hearing the cafeteria uncle's footsteps getting closer and closer, he wanted to run away with Nightingale, but he also felt that it would be too irresponsible.

"Never mind, you should go back now." Lin Ye opened another door to the kitchen and pushed Nightingale out. "I'll come find you again tomorrow morning. Don't make anyone else worry."

"What about the pineapple bun?"

"Of course I'll stay here and keep making pineapple buns for you," Lin Ye said with a smile. "Okay?"

Nightingale nodded like a chick pecking at rice, then added with some worry, "But that person looks so fierce, will he hit a pineapple bun?"

"Do you think he can beat me?" Lin Ye asked back.

Nightingale immediately shook her head: "Pineapple buns are the best."

"That's it." Lin Ye slowly closed the door. "Hurry back, or Shining will worry about you."

Nightingale nodded, said "See you tomorrow" to Lin Ye, and then trotted away. Watching Nightingale's retreating figure, Lin Ye suddenly felt a pang of sadness in his heart.

He closed the door and turned to face the angry cafeteria worker.

"Don't be angry, don't be angry. I ate it all, I ate it all."

"Come on, I clearly saw two people!"

"It's just me," Lin Ye said firmly. "It's just me."

Chapter 130 Please Believe in Yourself

"I'm so sorry, Master. He's new here and doesn't know any better... I understand. I'll let Amiya know tomorrow, and he'll compensate me with his salary..."

Ten minutes later, Ansel looked at Lin Ye, who had been released by the cafeteria worker, his face full of anger.

"I give up, I'm truly convinced." Ansel said to Lin Ye through gritted teeth, "I've been a long-time employee of Rhodes Island for so many years, and this is truly the first time I've ever seen someone sneak into the cafeteria in the middle of the night to steal candy!"

Lin Ye felt a little embarrassed, so he explained in a low voice, "It wasn't stealing candy, it was secretly making bread."

"This is even more incomprehensible!" Ansel almost jumped up. "What on earth are you thinking?!"

Lin Ye was even more embarrassed, so he simply stopped explaining and said, "Thank you for coming to pick me up."

“I don’t need your thanks,” Ansel said. “Don’t think this is all over. I’m only here so you can go home and sleep tonight. I’ll report this tomorrow, so just wait and see.”

"Will they deduct money from my pay?"
