"nya—!"

Injured by the extremely annoying energy, and further weakened by the consumption of using the magic leaf twice in a row, Young Cotton was blasted away.

Yuri was on the court at that moment, but probably didn't notice much else; she only knew that she should seize the opportunity to continue the attack.

"One more time, pollen blob!"

"nya!"

Yuri's little cotton cane let out a weak cry, and another clump of pollen fell from its head, which it then threw towards where its opponent had landed.

"Flying Leaf Blade!"

Yalo gave the command again, this time from a greater distance, but Yalo's little cotton-puff moved even slower, resulting in the pollen explosion affecting the little cotton-puff once more.

Seeing that the little cottony-coated creature was almost exhausted, Yalo took out the Poké Ball and recalled it. Looking at Yuri opposite him, he smiled and said:

"You're quite good. Now let me see your strength again! Let's battle using Dynamax!"

Actually, when Yuri's Cottonball used its first pollen ball attack, Aro felt he had already passed the battle, so he didn't force his Cottonball to fight with its last bit of strength.

After all, one tends to go easy on newcomers without realizing it, and Yalo knows he probably won't be able to break this habit in his lifetime.

However, since it's a 2v2 match, it still needs to be finished. If I remember correctly, that girl's second Pokémon was a Brines, right? Since it's registered, it should have already evolved by then.

After thinking it over, Yalo also hooked his right hand onto the second Pokémon that he had prepared long ago.

As the host explained, Yuri finally realized what was happening, recalled the equally exhausted Cottony, and then replaced it with another Poké Ball.

"She is my second Pokémon."

"This is the Apple Dragon here!"

As the two people moved, two Pokémon appeared on the field.

"nya~"

"Squeak—!"

White pudding and apple-wrapped dragon.

"Sunny day!"

"Apple Wrap Dragon, Wing Attack!"

"Be careful and avoid it."

As Pingguolong pounced, Yaluo and Bai Pengpeng remained completely calm. After Daqingtian successfully drove out, Bai Pengpeng actually jumped up from the ground and floated in mid-air.

With incredible agility, it lightly drifted along the air currents and dodged the attack of the Apple Wrap Dragon's wings.

"what?!"

"Now is not the time to be surprised, Weather Balloon, it's time to fight back!"

Yalo kindly gave a reminder, and then directed Bai Pengpeng, who had dodged the attack, to float around in mid-air while quickly condensing a ball of energy in front of him that looked like it was about to burn.

"Solar Beam! Appledragon, block the opponent's attack!"

Accompanied by Yuri's panicked voice, Pingguolong barely managed to condense a massive amount of energy using the power of the clear sky, and then shot a not-so-thick beam of light towards the rapidly approaching weather ball that looked like it was about to catch fire.

Boom! Boom!

Two powerful energies collided and exploded in mid-air. The violent energy fluctuations stirred up waves of air. The Pingguolong frantically flapped its wings to steady itself, while Bai Pengpeng used the wind to fly into the sky.

Fortunately, they had listened to Mary's advice and had Appledra practice the Solar Beam. Otherwise, they would have had to try to weaken the powerful and fast Weather Ball and then tough it out.

"You're quite skilled. I didn't expect you to be able to use the solar beam so proficiently. You've really impressed me."

Alo suddenly spoke through the smoke and dust in the middle of the arena, giving Yuri's response and Apple Dragon's strength a fairly good score. For a newcomer who had debuted less than a month ago, this gym battle could be considered a pass.

Thinking of this, Yalo suddenly took the Poké Ball from his waist and shouted:

"Then let's try this! Dynamax, Whiteflake!"

Calling out to his Pokémon, Yaro lifted the Poké Ball and retrieved the white fluff that was still floating in mid-air. The Dynamax Band on his wrist released five streams of Dynamax energy, frantically pouring them into the Poké Ball, causing it to swell to several dozen times its original size along with the storm.

Then, turning his back to the open space, he threw it out with all his might.

Chapter 49 Yuri's First Gym Battle Concludes

Yuri certainly wouldn't just stand by and watch. Although the increased size after Dynamaxing brought some inconvenience and disadvantages, Yuri was still aware of her limitations.

When facing a gym leader, this disadvantage is definitely not something that someone of his level can take advantage of.

"Pingguolong, you come too!"

Following suit, Appledra recalled itself, and after watching the purplish-red energy injected into the Dynamax Band enlarge the Poké Ball, it held it up with both hands, turned around, and threw it high behind it.

Boom—Boom—Boom—

The two Pokémon, one after the other, began to grow in size at an astonishing pace. The massive energy flow, unable to be controlled, overflowed and created gusts of strong wind.

However, the Dynamaxing at the gym wasn't as impressive as it was at the Dynamax Den, so Yuri was much calmer than some of the other newcomers.

Yaro completed its Dynamax form ahead of schedule, but instead of attacking, it politely waited until Appledra finished Dynamaxing before loudly issuing the command.

"Max Fireball! Set this entire area ablaze!"

Yuri didn't have time to think about why a Grass-type Pokémon like Whitefly could use a Fire-type Dynamax move. The unusually bright sunlight overhead made Yuri realize that if it actually ate the move, she would have to give up on this battle.

"Extremely huge defensive wall, dragon wrapped in apples!"

"Roar--!!"

After growing larger, even its roar became more imposing. Although the Appledragon, which possessed Dragon-type abilities, was not afraid of fire, it still found the opponent's condensed fire energy annoying.

Even without much practice, as long as you mobilize energy according to the Transformation-type moves you remember, the massive and uncontrollable Dynamax energy will automatically generate a protective light barrier behind you.

A scorching pillar of fire erupted, striking the translucent, purplish-red barrier with tremendous force. Though it was so close, it managed to block out all the intense heat.

The worst part is that, as the Dynamax Fireball faded, the Sunlight on the field seemed to have gotten even stronger.

Pingguolong naturally didn't dislike this environment, but unfortunately it didn't help much in this battle.

This was the first time the creature had grown to such a massive size, and the first time it had unleashed a powerful attack as if it were a pre-programmed skill. All of this made it impossible for the Apple Dragon, which should have been able to dodge nimbly, to react in time.

"Apple Wrap Dragon, Max Air Charge!"

Upon hearing Yuri's command, Yaro smiled, then gave an order that surprised Yuri.

"Go with the flow of air to avoid it!"

"Roar--!!"

"nya—!"

Bai Pengpeng shouted happily as he watched the Pingguo Dragon condense a tornado, stirring up the air currents in the arena and sweeping towards him.

It leaped into the air with force, and before the attack even arrived, the chaotic gusts of wind had already swept over Bai Pengpeng, which was the source of its confidence in successfully dodging the attack.

"what?!"

Yuri's eyes widened as she watched the enormous white tuft, aided by the gale whipped up by the Apple Dragon, soar back into the sky. Its elegant and effortless movements easily evaded the devastating whirlwind attack.

The whirlwind created by Max Air blast rushed straight towards the opposite stands, but was blocked by a thin layer of light at the moment of impact, turning into scattered air currents that made the wind in the arena even more chaotic.

"Don't just stand there, challenger."

Yaro's voice reached Yuri's ears, startling her awake. Now was certainly not the time for sentimentality; she had seen instances in previous matches where Dynamax moves could be dodged.

Back then, I didn't really understand trainers; I just thought the sight of special moves clashing was more exciting and didn't pay much attention to it.

When Yuri finally stood on that stage, she realized that Dynamax battles weren't just about standing still as a stationary turret.

While many Pokémon do become difficult to move after Dynamaxing, large and lightweight Pokémon like Plume, which are naturally prone to being carried by the wind, can perform some dodging maneuvers that are otherwise difficult to execute.

"Apple Wrapped Dragon, Maximal Dragon Rider!"

The opponent flew too high, and Yuri wasn't sure if her Poison-type moves could hit the white fluffy high in the sky, so she had no choice but to use a Dragon-type move to try and see if she could damage it.

Yaro deliberately slowed down his pace, refraining from issuing the next command, allowing Appledra to successfully unleash Max Dragoon. Several streams of dragon-type energy swept towards Whitey, who was trying to dodge in mid-air.

Unfortunately, this energy flow wasn't as powerful as the previous special move, and Whitey's evasive abilities in its Dynamax form didn't seem to have been honed to a very high level.

This time, at least, Bai Pengpeng couldn't completely dodge. The dragon-type energy, after only briefly entangling Bai Pengpeng, immediately unleashed its full power.

A pair of enormous dragon wings unfolded with a surge of energy, then suddenly closed and exploded.

"nya——!!"

This move wasn't enough to incapacitate Bai Pengpeng; he merely screamed and, after momentarily losing control of his airflow, was forcibly pulled downwards by the attack.

"Continue, Gigantamax Acid! Apple Wrap Dragon!"

Yuri didn't want to waste this opportunity, and seeing that Bai Pengpeng had landed at a rather dangerous height, she immediately gave the next instructions.

However, this time Yalo could no longer let it go.

"Another massively popular event!"

Centered on the Apple-Wrapped Dragon, a large amount of venom formed from condensed energy suddenly spread out and quickly covered a large area, while white flames also condensed during this time.

Boom! Boom!

Bang Bang Bang!

A massive amount of acidic liquid shot into the sky, forming several water columns that rushed towards the white puddles, which were not tall enough. At the same time, the white puddles' huge pillar of flames also burned wildly towards the Apple Dragon, sweeping away.

"Roar--!!"

"nya——!!"

Both of them took the opponent's Dynamax attack at the same time, and both let out a deafening roar that was practically eardrums bursting...

Mary, sitting in the audience, picked at her ears with a hint of helplessness. Judging from the fact that she hadn't been disturbed for the past few days, there must be some kind of soundproofing she wasn't aware of.

However, if you were watching it live... Mary turned her head and glanced at the enthusiastic audience behind her. It's amazing that these people can stand it.

However, just as Marnie was distracted, the Dynamax timer on the field came to an end, and the two gigantic Pokémon began to shrink back to their normal size, one after the other.

Both collapsed onto the field, neither of them completely unconscious. However, Yalo felt that the challenge had been enough for a gym challenge, so he gave the host a signal that it was time to declare the match over.

P.S.: Sorry for the late update today~ I've been thinking about the content of Dynamax battles.

I originally intended to write it as Yalo's more subtle act of releasing water, but as I wrote, it turned into a very obvious act of releasing water...

PPS: Then let me explain the appearance of Max Flare. When Weather Ball is used after Dynamaxing, it will also be affected by the weather and become a move of the corresponding type. Well, I, the author, personally tested it out and came to this conclusion.
