He walked alone, heading in the same direction as everyone else, but the occasional pauses of the people of the Holy Kingdom made it seem as if he were going against the flow.

In the magnificent hall at the deepest part of the temple, there is a statue of a god sculpted with the sun as its symbol, while the main seat, headed by the judge, and the two secondary seats face all the seats in the hall.

That was nothing more than a scene that seemed to have jumped out of a myth.

The sunlight filtering through the gaps between the rows of cylindrical columns looked like golden ribbons.

There was no sudden sound; it was perfectly quiet, like a sacred place.

This is the highest and most sacred place in the Holy Kingdom, the Court of Judgment.

The courtroom was eerily quiet. No one dared to make a sound, or even to speak casually. Everyone walked carefully, afraid of making the slightest noise and disturbing His Majesty Emperor Lunn.

Upon entering the courtroom, Dekan finally saw what Lenn looked like now...

Aged. That was Dekan's first thought.

This emperor, now seventy-three years old, is an old man in his twilight years. Although he is dressed in gorgeous clothes and wears a crown inlaid with tiny gold wire and diamonds, he can no longer find the monstrous aura of a powerful figure he once had.

Compared to the mild-mannered Lunn of yesteryear, sitting on the emperor's throne these past years has perhaps honed his ruthlessness, making him appear even more imposing.

But he was slow to even lift his eyelids, and his gaze seemed somewhat sluggish. However, a glint of light flashed in his slightly cloudy eyes, as if he were maintaining his last bit of authority as the Holy Emperor.

He has become much weaker.

For some reason, seeing Lenn like this made Dekan feel a strange pang of sadness.

This is not how Len should be.

Clearly, even if Ray didn't completely take his life, he still shortened his lifespan by several years or even more than a decade.

If Dekan were to take the last bit of Lenn's life, even the decisive Dekan wouldn't know what to do.

But when it came down to whether to trust Lenn or Ray, Dekan had already made his decision.

……

Emperor Lunen sat on a high platform that belonged only to him, with everyone else at least thirty meters away from him.

There were only two people not far from him, sitting a few meters away on either side. To his left was a woman with long, light blue hair like a waterfall. Her pupils seemed to hold flawless stars, as if she could see through the truth written by the gods at any time.

She appeared dignified yet approachable, with a gentle smile on her lips, as if she would treat anyone with kindness.

On the right is a stunningly beautiful woman with black hair and black eyes, her features exquisitely refined, like the most outstanding work of art sculpted by the Creator himself.

She was incredibly cold, radiating an aura that kept people at a distance.

They were clearly the Saintess of Light and the Saintess of Darkness, whose status in the Holy Kingdom was second only to Lunen.

It is part of the goddess's blessing that gives them their ageless appearance.

Of course, this will not prolong their lifespan, but even at the moment of their passing, they will retain the most beautiful appearance of their lives.

Dekan inadvertently saw the Holy Maiden of Light. Ludwig looked calm and his warm smile was like a spring breeze. His eyes seemed to be reassuring everyone in the courtroom, telling them not to worry or be nervous.

The Dark Saintess Milia only exchanged a glance with Dekan before ignoring him.

Dekan didn't bother to pay attention to these two old acquaintances, even though they didn't have much interaction with Deloitte in this era.

Only Dekan knew that both of them were just putting on a show.

In reality, one is a jerk with a terrible temper, while the other is a gentle little angel at heart.

The protagonist of today's trial, Duke Ray, was already in the courtroom early on.

He was bound by several supreme spells of the Holy Kingdom, and even with his ninth-order divine power, he could not break free or move an inch.

At this moment, Ray was already standing in the area where the judges were being tried, and everyone knew that his final fate was sealed.

But his slightly aged face still retained the same unruliness and wildness as when he was young, as he looked up at Lunn high above.

That look seemed to convey only one thing—

If you dare to release me, I'll kill you again.

Len looked down at Lei in the distance.

In his eyes, it was hard to tell whether confusion, regret, pain, or sadness predominated, or whether these emotions had long been intertwined and mixed together, making it impossible to say anything clearly.

Even in the unusually quiet courtroom, there was a sound of footsteps, like the only ticking of a clock in the room at night.

That was the sound of the footsteps of the last honorary duke of the three founding kilometers of the nation.

He walked up step by step, not looking at Len or Ray, as if he no longer had any thoughts on his mind.

Dekan walked to the seat reserved for the legendary duke, all under everyone's gaze, and sat down without saying a word.

Only then did faint murmurs rise again from the courtroom!

At this moment, Lunn's attitude finally confirmed that the last of the three founding dukes was indeed real!

And the honorary duke is the mysterious old man in front of us, so reserved that he is hard to see through!

As soon as Dekan took his seat, Lenn's gaze swept across the room, his eyes like those of an aging lion, aged yet still conveying a sense of awe.

"Then... let's begin!"

Lenn's voice was hoarse, and without much preamble, he began the trial ahead of schedule.

Perhaps his body couldn't support a long wait.

Perhaps, it seems that everyone else is dispensable, and that we've waited until now only for the arrival of a certain person.

Author's Note:

There are only about three chapters left in Volume 6, Shadow World. I estimate that Volume 7, the final volume, will start this weekend! I'll try my best to finish Volume 6 with extra chapters. As is my usual practice, I usually try my best to finish the entire long chapter at the end of the volume to avoid breaking the chapter cycle!

P.S.: It seems like it's been a while since I posted the book club group number. I've seen some new readers asking for the group number in the comments and posts, so I'll post it regularly from now on. 373 The Final Battle of the Holy Kingdom of Dekan

The trial has been underway for some time.

Whenever anyone spoke, it was as solemn as the tolling of a bell.

Because the courtroom of the Temple of Law is the most divine place in the Holy City.

The powerful and wealthy could clearly see that on the temple wall behind the judge's bench, the story of the gods' war, a legend passed down from who-knows-where, was depicted with magnificent strokes.

Order and chaos, fantasy and reality—the scene of those godlike beings driving their entire bodies, spirits, souls, and souls to fight to the death.

Against a backdrop of stars, miracles and magic surge, roar, glow, burn, and explode.

Afterwards, the gods, as if tired of fighting, began to reach for strange dice and chessboard-like props, gradually becoming engrossed in these abstract games...

Although some people may be momentarily distracted by these murals, they are quickly brought back to their senses by the voices from the courtroom.

"If someone instigates or coerces you to confess, although the chances of being pardoned are slim, at least you will survive."

Ludwig's gentle voice echoed in the courtroom for a moment.

After waiting for a while, Ray remained silent as if he hadn't heard Ludwig's words.

"Was your assassination attempt on His Majesty Lenn voluntary?"

Ludwig rephrased the question.

"Yes."

For once, Ray finally spoke, immediately admitting it.

This decisive confession immediately caused an uproar in the courtroom.

Because all three judges on the bench frowned.

Ray was clearly telling the truth!

Duke Ray showed no intention of defending himself; with just two simple words, he sealed his fate with the death penalty, as if he were seeking death!

Finally, a voice came from the other side of the judge's bench.

"Or...do you have something to accuse His Majesty Lenn of?"

As Milia finished speaking, the courtroom erupted into uncontrollable chaos once again.

"Has Lady Milia gone mad?"

"But there have long been rumors about His Majesty Lenn..."

"Shhh!!"

The powerful and influential people all tried their best to keep their voices down.

Her words just now were undoubtedly a great disrespect to the Holy Emperor!

But this is a question that many people want to ask but dare not ask!

However, Milia probably didn't think that much about it; she was just thinking about her friendship with Ray and wanted to help him as much as possible.

This might be Ray's last chance.

However, just after Milia threw out that last rescue rope.

Lei, however, seemed to ignore him and once again chose to refuse to answer.

Milia slowly lowered her head.

It's like disappointment, but even more so, it's a feeling of helplessness and resentment!

"That's really a pity."

Len had already stood up, preparing to walk off the bench.

The verdict was already decided the moment Ray confessed to the crime in public with the most certain words.

However, as Lunn slowly walked away, his back seemed to have aged several years.

"Your Majesty, I believe we should spare his life for now. There must be something about him that we haven't yet figured out."

Milia gritted her teeth, turned around, and shouted.

No one knows how much determination she mustered to dare challenge Lenn's authority time and time again.

However, Lenn simply shook his head without turning his head, not stopping in his tracks, seemingly utterly disappointed in Ray.
