Tang Sanzang felt embarrassed and quickly said, "Wukong, hurry up and go beg for alms, your master is hungry."

"Let's go then." Although Sun Wukong was curious, since Tang Sanzang had already given the order, he could only fly into the air and scan downwards. Before long, he discovered a village.

We had now passed Liangjie Mountain and arrived at the territory of Xiniu Hezhou.

Sun Wukong sensed a familiar presence in the village and was delighted, saying, "I've run into an acquaintance."

So he stopped burning the vegetarian food, flew down, and came to Tang Sanzang, saying, "Master, there is a village a thousand miles away. How about we go there to ask for lodging and a meal?"

A thousand miles wasn't far for them. Tang Sanzang thought it would be fine to have a safe place to sleep, so he said, "That's good." He turned to Lin Zhu and asked, "What does True Lord think?"

"Okay, let's go."

Lin Zhu responded, having already finished the chicken leg in her hand.

With the help of spatial laws, the group arrived at the village in no time.

It was the dead of night, and in Lin Zhu and Sun Wukong's eyes, the village was radiating a faint Buddhist light.

Almost every household here has a Buddha statue, which they worship with incense and seek the protection of Buddhism.

Tang Sanzang smelled the scent of burning sandalwood and said, "This village is inhabited by believers of our Buddhist sect; they must be kind people."

"That's not necessarily true." Lin Zhu, ever the argumentative type, said, "There are plenty of places in Buddhism that harbor filth and corruption."

Tang Sanzang could no longer tolerate it. "Lord Lin, your words are detrimental to Buddhism. Please change your words."

"Tch!" Lin Zhu curled her lip. "What nonsense about destroying Buddhism. Take that Happy Buddha from your Buddhist sect, for example. He was originally the Long-Eared Dingguang Immortal of the Jie Sect. He betrayed the Jie Sect during the Investiture of the Gods and joined Buddhism. After that, he used his magic to seduce women and commit adultery with them. Now, many immortals and gods in Heaven want to arrest him, but he is protected by Buddhism. Tell me, am I destroying Buddhism?"

Upon hearing this, Tang Sanzang felt his worldview shattered. "How is this possible?"

Lin Zhu smiled and said, "If you don't believe me, you can ask Guanyin Bodhisattva next time she comes. However, I doubt she'll be able to answer that question for you."

This time, Tang Sanzang remained silent.

Sun Wukong's eyes lit up; he hadn't expected Buddhism to have such a thing. He thought to himself, 'If this old monk doesn't ask, then I, Old Sun, will.'

That concludes the discussion.

Tang Sanzang had already become withdrawn by this time.

Lin Zhu gestured for Lin Zhao to walk forward slowly and knock on the door of a relatively large house. "A guest from afar has arrived. Is anyone home?"

"There's no one in the house, Your Majesty, you should go somewhere else." An old man's voice came from the courtyard, his tone trembling slightly.

Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong stepped forward and shouted at Lin Zhu, "You are so ignorant! If there is no one in the courtyard, how can anyone speak?"

"Oh, this!" came an old woman's voice from inside the house. "You old man, you're going to drive me crazy!"

At this moment, Tang Sanzang emerged from his secluded state and addressed the inner room, saying, "Gentlemen, we are monks from the Great Tang Dynasty in the East..."

"They are monks, I am not!" Lin Zhu emphasized again.

Tang Sanzang's carefully prepared speech was interrupted, almost causing him to break down. He then continued, "We have traveled through the night tonight, so please allow us to stay the night. We will depart tomorrow."

Because his voice sounds like that of a kind person, it is very approachable.

Then, the sound of a door opening came from the inner room, followed by footsteps.

The gate to the courtyard opened a crack, and an old man peered through the crack and saw Tang Sanzang at the very front, who indeed looked like a high-ranking monk.

"Is he really a high-ranking monk from the Great Tang Dynasty in the East?"

"This humble monk is Tang Sanzang. Greetings, esteemed benefactor." Tang Sanzang put his hands together and performed a Buddhist salute.

The courtyard gate was then fully opened. "This old man greets the venerable monk."

The old man asked, "Did the venerable monk come alone?"

“And there’s me, Old Sun.” Sun Wukong jumped out from behind Tang Sanzang at this moment.

The old man was startled. "Monkey, a talking monkey, a demon, a monster!" He turned and ran.

Sun Wukong grabbed the old man's clothes, "You old shepherd boy, you used to pick vegetables off my head when you were a kid, how come you've forgotten your old friend now?"

The old man was so frightened that his legs went weak and he sat down on the ground. In the moonlight, he could barely make out Sun Wukong's appearance.

"You, you are the divine monkey that was imprisoned under the mountain back then?"

“It’s me, Old Sun.” Sun Wukong then released the old man. “You shepherd boy, it’s been decades since we last met. I never expected you to have moved.”

Seeing that it was a familiar monkey, the old man was no longer afraid of him and said, "This is a long story."

Chapter 939 Lingshan's Reaction

Then the old man began to tell his story in detail.

It turns out that decades ago, when there was turmoil in Jambudvipa, a lot of bandits came to the vicinity of Liangjie Mountain. After learning the news, their village kept moving around and finally settled here. They have been living here for more than 30 years now.

After the old man finished speaking, he invited Tang Sanzang and Sun Wukong inside.

Sun Wukong looked back and saw Lin Zhu.

He quickly called out, "Brother Lin, where have you been?"

Lin Zhu, who was lying on Lin Zhao's back, said, "You guys go ahead. My mount is comfortable, so you can spend the night outside."

Only then did the old man realize there was another person. In the moonlight, he saw Lin Zhu's blurry figure, as well as Lin Zhao's enormous body, and was startled again.

Sun Wukong said, "Little shepherd boy, don't be afraid. My brother here is a deity. That's his mount, not some monster."

"So you're a deity! This old man looks like one too." The old man said, about to kneel down and pay homage to the deity.

Lin Zhu waved his hand, and his magic surged out, preventing him from bowing. "No need to bow to me. I'm leaving tomorrow, and I can't protect you anyway."

"Ah, this!" The old man was silent for a moment. It was the first time he had ever seen such a deity, but he still said, "Why don't you go in and rest, deity?"

"No need, your room isn't as comfortable as my mount. You can go on your own."

Lying on Lin Zhao's back, Lin Zhu felt sleepy.

Sun Wukong said, "Alright, little shepherd boy, you don't need to invite him. Go and prepare some vegetarian food for my master."

"Good, good!" The old man looked at Lin Zhu curiously again, then turned and went inside.

Tang Sanzang specifically instructed, "Please prepare enough for two people, as my disciple hasn't eaten yet."

Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong looked somewhat resentful, as the road was completely blocked.

Lin Zhu couldn't help but laugh when he heard this.

Sun Wukong is not going to have a good meal.

While they were resting, Taiyi had already begun to act.

In Xiniu Hezhou, countless demon kings knew that as long as they devoured Lin Zhu, they could open the path to the Chaos Realm.

Now they've gone crazy.

That's the Chaos Realm, just one step away from merging with the Dao and becoming a master of a Dao in the Pangu Realm, an absolute giant.

So, one by one, they began to call on their friends and acquaintances, even alarming the demon court of Beiju Luzhou.

Lingshan naturally learned of this news as well.

On the surface, Tathagata remained unchanged, but inwardly, his emotions were already turbulent.

'I never imagined that the Goddess Houtu's schemes were so profound!'

The other Buddhas of Mount Ling also looked conflicted, wondering whether they should go and eat Lin Zhu.

The risks are high, but the rewards are great!

At this moment, they couldn't help but envy the Golden-Winged Roc and his companions.

"Amitabha!" Guanyin spoke at this moment, "Buddha, Jin Chanzi's reincarnation has gone through ten lifetimes, forging a body of merit. We must not let those demons know that as long as they eat a piece of his flesh, they can be spared from the three calamities and nine tribulations."

The Buddha nodded and looked at the Buddhas of Mount Ling, "Please keep this secret."

The long-eared Dingguang Immortal's red eyes gleamed slightly. "With that Lin Zhu gem before us, who cares about Tang Sanzang's flesh? Looks like I, the old Buddha, must also descend to the mortal realm."

He could sense that bamboo wasn't so palatable, and he needed to find someone to cooperate with. The yellow-browed boy of Maitreya Buddha was a good candidate for cooperation.

His strength is neither high nor low, but his ability is not bad.

Having made up his mind, he decided to take action soon.

At this time, Buddha was discussing countermeasures with Guanyin, Dipankara, Maitreya, Manjushri, Samantabhadra, and other high-ranking officials of Mount Sumeru.

"Gentlemen, this will greatly increase the difficulties on our journey to the West, and my second disciple might very well perish."

"Not bad, even this old monk is somewhat tempted, let alone those demons." Randeng's hands trembled slightly as he restrained himself.

Maitreya remained calm and composed, his position as secure as Mount Tai, regardless of whether the pilgrimage to the West succeeded or failed.

Guanyin said, "The covert protection of the Five Directions Protectors, the Four Duty Officers, the Six Ding and Six Jia, and the Eighteen Garan Temples is probably just a drop in the ocean. I implore Buddha to send more people."

Manjushri said, "The greater the calamity, the stronger the formation's core, and the greater the merit upon its completion. Why not let this humble monk and Venerable Samantabhadra undertake this arduous task?"

“No, both Venerable Ones have important matters to attend to.” The Tathagata rejected Manjushri’s suggestion, then said, “Let the Venerable Sunlight, Venerable Moonlight, Venerable Mahasthamaprapta, and Venerable Vajra go instead.”

These four are virtually unmatched in the three realms of law, just one step away from entering the Primordial Chaos Realm. They are veteran Bodhisattvas of Buddhism and direct descendants of Jieyin and Zhunti.

Since the Buddha had said so, Manjushri did not insist further, saying, "The Buddha has made the arrangements."

'Amitabha Buddha, so it is.'

Therefore, under the Buddha's command, the four Bodhisattvas immediately set off to protect Tang Sanzang together with the eighteen guardian deities who were originally hiding in the shadows.

At the same time, they also brought along the golden body of Jin Chanzi. If Tang Sanzang were in real danger, he could temporarily merge with the golden body and use his past life's power to escape.

This is the only option we have.

Soon, the night passed.

After the sun rose, Lin Zhu planned to take a breath of pure yang purple energy as usual.

But the sound of horses' hooves that followed disturbed him.

A short while later, the sound of horses reining in could be heard from the village entrance.

"This village hasn't been plundered yet, brothers, let's kill! Kill all the men, and we'll keep the pretty women for our own amusement."

The sound was so loud that it woke up everyone in the village.

Inside the house, the old woman's voice rang out, "Oh dear, the robbers are here! Disaster is upon us! What are we going to do!"
