Chapter 520 Green Past

On the second day of the Family Reunion Festival, people prepare green rice dumplings or zongzi, a custom unique to the Eighth World.

The specialty fruit of the mangrove forest is the apple. Logically speaking, the filling for qingtuan (green glutinous rice dumplings) or zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) should also be apple. However, the members of the mangrove forest group clearly prefer savory zongzi, so even the qingtuan are filled with pork.

Jiang Mochang had a sweet tooth, but Murong Xu and Liu Yin obviously couldn't make it for her; the person who made it for her was Yang Pingsheng.

Just like in the previous cycle, he brought freshly baked green rice dumplings and zongzi to Jiang Mochang early in the morning.

Cultivators are not immortals after all. Their spiritual energy can negate most of the effects of alcohol, but who knows what Murong Xu's wine was made of? Jiang Mochang had a severe hangover, and even while eating zongzi, his face still looked dazed.

Everyone gathered again at the small house under the willow tree. Sikong Xuan was in much better spirits; the hangover had almost no effect on a body cultivator like him. Su Fengqing was still asleep and therefore did not come.

Liu Yin had prepared savory green rice dumplings and zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) that she had made herself. Murong Xu looked at what she had in her hand, then at what Jiang Mochang had in his, and said, "Someone is really an exception."

He probably wanted to help, but his tone was strange. Jiang Mochang was still not awake, staring blankly ahead, not reacting.

There were bits of glutinous rice stuck to the corner of her mouth. Yang Pingsheng reached out and wiped them away for her, then smiled at Murong Xu: "If the deputy leader wants some, I can make some for you too."

Murong Xu shuddered: "Forget it, I'll just eat the gang leader's food."

The smoke from the cooking on the table drifted outside, causing a gust of wind. Yang Pingsheng calculated the time and felt it was about time, so he got up.

Just then, Liu Yin walked in carrying tea and fruit: "Ping Sheng, are you leaving? I just prepared some tea here, have some more."

Yang Pingsheng smiled and shook his head: "No, Mo Chang is still not awake. I'll come later."

Liu Yin walked past Yang Pingsheng and looked at Jiang Mochang, who was eating like a robot at the table. She couldn't help but smile and said, "I see."

Her gaze softened: "You've worked hard."

Yang Pingsheng pulled back the foot he was about to step out.

He looked at Liu Yin, but the latter had already walked in with tea and fruit, leaving only her back view.

This is yet another different place.

A ripple of emotion stirred within him, but he ultimately suppressed it and walked out without uttering a sound.

-------------

Not far from the mangrove forest is a village, and outside the village is a quiet little pavilion surrounded by lush bamboo groves, where the bamboo leaves rustle in the wind.

The pavilion is not large, but it is enough to shelter from the wind and rain. Four red-lacquered pillars support the green-tiled roof. In the center of the pavilion, there is a stone table and a few stone benches, all alone and empty.

To the east of the pavilion, a river flowing from the mangrove forest reaches this spot, its waters crystal clear, occasionally rippling in circles. The riverbank is overgrown with grass, dotted with a few wildflowers. To the west lies an open area, where a thick carpet of fallen leaves lies beneath several old locust trees, soft and yielding underfoot, rustling like bamboo leaves whenever the wind blows.

When Yang Pingsheng arrived, someone was already waiting there; it was Yan Yong.

He wore a light blue long robe with delicate silver cloud patterns embroidered on the lapels and cuffs, making him look exceptionally elegant. His belt was made of the finest silk and inlaid with several sparkling jade stones, which swayed gently with his movements, shimmering with a warm light.

His long hair was tied up with a jade hairpin, revealing a handsome face with eyebrows like distant mountains, eyes like autumn water, a straight nose, and a gentle smile that always graced his lips, giving him an air of refinement.

If one hadn't gone through all that, who would have thought that such a person would have such ambition?

Yang Pingsheng looked into those eyes, and as before, a sharp glint would occasionally flash across them, revealing a deep-seated shrewdness and calculation.

Upon seeing Yang Pingsheng appear in the pavilion, Yan Yong scrutinized him for a while before slowly asking, "Are you the sender?"

Yang Pingsheng nodded: "Yes."

Yan Yong smiled, gestured for Yang Pingsheng to sit down, and then sat down on the stone bench himself.

He said, “I had just arrived in a village I didn’t know well when a letter was waiting for me there. It was a very strange feeling. The strangest thing was that everything in the letter came true and it hit the nail on the head.”

He pointed to the mangrove forest not far away and said, "I originally planned to attack the Mangrove Forest Gang at dawn, but considering that letter, I'm willing to give the writer some face."

Yang Pingsheng smiled and nodded, saying, "Then I must thank you for giving me this face."

"So who are you, and why do you know about me?" Yan Yong's eyes were fixed on Yang Pingsheng. "I don't think I know you, but you seem to know me very well."

Yang Pingsheng did not answer Yan Yong's question, but instead asked in return, "You want a chance to become an immortal, right?"

Yan Yong didn't answer, but instead asked in return, "Why won't you answer my question?"

Yang Pingsheng pretended not to hear and continued, "You know well, that immortal destiny is indeed Su Fengqing. But I want to tell you that Su Fengqing can't give you anything. Her immortal destiny can only be used by herself. Even if you kill her, you won't get anything."

Yan Yong stopped asking questions and instead responded: "Since Su Fengqing possesses the destiny of immortality, then obtaining her will also grant me the destiny of immortality."

Yang Pingsheng shook his head: "It's no use. I'll say it again, that immortal destiny is a natural immortal body, but Su Fengqing's natural immortal body is not strong at all, and it's extremely useless. She can't realize your ideal."

Yan Yong smiled and said, "Do you know my ideal?"

Yang Pingsheng said, "I made myself very clear in the letter, and I don't want to repeat myself."

Yan Yong then stopped laughing.

The two remained silent for a long time before Yan Yong suddenly said, "You're not trying to stop me."

He said, “From your words, including the feeling I got from meeting you in person today, you wanted to stop me, but you were afraid of something, so you didn’t choose to stop me. But you still acted. I feel that something is changing.”

Yan Yong frowned; he had a very bad feeling about the man in front of him.

He likes to be rational, but often he relies on his feelings.

“I really wanted to get to know you. Before I came here, I even thought about bringing you under my wing.” Yan Yong raised his hand. “But now that I’ve seen you with my own eyes, I understand that someone like you can never submit to anyone.”

He was holding a jade pendant in his hand.

With a forceful flick of his wrist, dozens of cultivators emerged from the riverside flowerbeds and surrounded the pavilion.

Yan Yong said, "Once I catch you, I'll have plenty of ways to find out why you know me so well."

The wind blows everything.

Yang Pingsheng stood up and struck Yan Yong with a palm.

The earth elemental energy erupted, crushing everything around him. With the divine artifact possessing him, his eyes turned icy cold.

Yan Yong only heard the man shout:

"please!"

-------------

The spiritual energy was intertwined, but one side possessed a celestial artifact, thus gaining the upper hand.

During the fight, Yang Pingsheng saw the green figure behind Yan Yong again.

Ye Buxin and Yang Pingsheng had a conversation a long, long time ago.

Yang Pingsheng's words to her were extremely impolite.

“Ye Buxin, every life is unique. I can understand your thoughts, but to sacrifice the lives of others in order to make your own life shine brightly, what’s the difference between that and a butcher?”

For her personally.

"You may be a genius, but you also need to give others time to grow. You need to allow others to make mistakes. No one is born knowing everything."

Her beliefs.

"An individual's will cannot supersede the will of the masses. Even if you are powerful and can dominate for a time, sooner or later your will will be overthrown."

Everything that was done to her.

"Humans are humans, and heaven is heaven. To presume to become heaven and rule over humans will only lead everything to the darkest abyss. When heaven and humanity are indistinguishable, and yin and yang are in conflict, is this what you want to see?"

Finally, when the two completely broke up, blood engulfed everything.

Yang Pingsheng plunged a knife into her heart, revealing murderous intent to her for the first time in front of her.

All she heard him say was, "Even if it's you, the one who claims to be liberating but actually shackles the world, I cannot let go."

-------------

Yan Yong's obsession slowly burned, and his green-tinged appearance made him look just like Ye Buxin.

The wind carried away the remnants of spiritual energy, and Yang Pingsheng's armor was put on these people in batches, sealing their movements.

Yan Yong, who was sealed to the ground by the breastplate and shoulder armor, stared intently at Yang Pingsheng, then suddenly sneered: "You want to kill me?"

Yang Pingsheng looked at him calmly: "I just want to tell you that it's useless for you to get Su Fengqing."

Yan Yong laughed heartily and said loudly, "What the book says is true. This world has been restarted many times, and you are the one who restarted it!"

Yang Pingsheng's magical artifact left him in a sorry state, falling to the ground in an unseemly manner, but he still laughed loudly: "Su Fengqing is indeed useless, but the one who is useful is you!"

The green color reappeared, but this time it wasn't on Yan Yong.

Yang Pingsheng suddenly turned his head and saw that there was another cultivator lying in ambush in the bushes.

It's a different place again.

The cultivator held a bow-shaped magical artifact and aimed it at Yang Pingsheng, drawing his bow and shooting an arrow.

call out!

In a daze, Yang Pingsheng seemed to see the man say, "The sir sends his greetings."

A green afterimage appeared from the arrow, which struck him squarely in the chest.

-------------

Night falls, on the mountain cliffs.

Under the bright silver moon, atop the cliff, one person plays the zither while another dances with a sword.

The music of the zither and the dance of swords filled the air with murderous intent. A woman in green danced to the music, her sword flashing and leaving afterimages as she pierced the sky.

As the music ended, the tip of her sword was pointed directly at Yang Pingsheng, who was playing the zither, and she asked, "How was it?"

Yang Pingsheng smiled and said, "Okay."

The woman in green smiled, sheathed her sword, and sat down next to Yang Pingsheng.

She said, “We disciples of the Ghost Valley Sect never stay in the sect for long after we have completed our studies. Our senior brothers and sisters have all left the mountain to realize their ideals and ambitions after completing their studies. But our master has kept you and me here and has been delaying our departure from the mountain. Do you know why?”

Yang Pingsheng said, "Is it because our cultivation level is insufficient?"

The woman in green said, "Come on, don't you know your master? Once you've mastered what you're good at, he'll never let his students stay. The only reason he's keeping us is because we haven't perfected what we're good at yet."

Yang Pingsheng shook his head, interrupting the woman in green: "I don't think so. What you are good at and what I am good at are essentially the same thing: guidance. If we guide well, the key is still the individual. The reason our master kept us is more because we haven't cultivated our character properly. The path of cultivation is all about character."

He said, “Look at the song ‘Song to the Sky’ that we performed together. No matter how gentle it is at the beginning, it will eventually turn into a sound of killing. Being too obsessed is not a good thing.”

He was talking non-stop when he noticed the woman in green looking at him with a smile. Feeling a little embarrassed, he touched his nose and said, "Don't you think I said something wrong?"

The woman in green smiled slightly: "Wrong? No, you're not wrong. Whether it's you or me, we're all the same."
