Conan, I'm an actor

"Alright, what do you want me to do?" Rena Mizunashi asked, staring at Shinjo.
"Just be a good undercover agent." Shinjo stretched his neck. "When I need you, I'll find a way to contact you. One last question: when you reported to Vodka, did you embellish anything?"
Rena Mizunashi was taken aback, and replied blankly, "No."
"That's good." Shinjo nodded, then turned and left.
"In that travel bag..." Rena Mizunashi looked at the travel bag, her meaning all too clear: she wanted Shinjo to take it or get rid of it.
“It’s fake. Those people originally wanted to use counterfeit goods to make it look real, but I kindly replaced them with genuine ones,” Shinjo said with a smile. “You can tell Vodka about that.”
Chapter 249 Buoys and Nagano Prefecture
Rena Mizunashi's face twitched slightly. How could she not understand after all that had been said?
Today's performance was meant for Vodka and Gin, but how to deliver the message to Vodka? Telling him directly would definitely arouse his suspicion, which is troublesome.
A dozen minutes later, inside the Black Organization's stronghold
“Boss, Kiel just found a bomb in Cognac’s car, and it was a fake bomb,” Vodka whispered. “It was probably a scare tactic those guys used, but Cognac replaced it with a real one. Isn’t the hospital Cognac’s territory? Why would he blow up the hospital?”
“This guy is afraid that if we leave any trace, it will get him killed.” Gin took out a cigarette. “This base, although it’s said to be his, was previously operated by our people. If we let those people in to search, who knows what they might find.”
Vodka frowned and said, "We're the ones who gave him the information, so why is he so wary of us?"
This behavior is exactly the same as his boss's.
“How does he know this isn’t a trap we set?” Gin suddenly thought of something. “How do you know the bomb was switched with cognac? Or did someone tell you?”
“Kier tracked down the cognac and found a bag of bombs he had discarded, all of them fake.” Vodka opened the photo on the back of the email. “The rest is just my own guess.”
Gin nodded as he looked at the photo in the email. "Next time, don't be so clever."
Vodka's face stiffened, and he could only nod repeatedly to indicate that he understood.
Gin looked out the window, his expression somewhat gloomy. Cognac, like him, was meticulous in his work; it was impossible for him to make such a big mistake. Although Kiel was quite skilled, keeping up with Cognac would be difficult, unless Gin was deliberately putting on a show for Kiel.
Vodka wanted to ask something more, but seeing Gin's gloomy face, he didn't dare to continue.
But before he could ask, Gin spoke first, "How's the matter I asked you to investigate going?"
“There are indeed ocean buoys, but this matter is highly classified, and our people cannot access them.” Vodka also had a headache. “It’s simply impossible to infiltrate them.”
There was another Binga who could have infiltrated the ocean buoys, but that guy was too reckless and got killed by Cognac.
Rum was very unhappy about this, but he couldn't retaliate, so he simply passed on the work that Binga hadn't finished. However, while he and Gin were good at killing, being an undercover agent was a real challenge for them.
Furthermore, the ocean buoy is about to be put into use, and it would be too late to send people in now. By the time they get in, it will be too late.
Gin wasn't angry when he heard Vodka's answer; it was exactly what he expected.
"Notify Bourbon and Cognac that they are in charge of the ocean buoy project," Gin said after a moment's thought.
"Huh? But brother, didn't you have doubts about Bourbon and Cognac?" Vodka asked, somewhat puzzled. "Is it really okay to entrust such a big matter to them?"
"Even if Vermouth and Rum's affair is a disaster, what does it have to do with me?" Gin scoffed.
For him, whether he could successfully remove the traces from the surveillance video was irrelevant. If this incident could eliminate these two potential threats, it would be a good thing.
at the same time
Accompanied by Kazama, Amuro Tooru arrived at a sanatorium, but was stunned as soon as he entered the ward, because Kagemitsu was standing by the window watering flowers.
"Oh," Jingguang said with a gentle smile.
“Kagemitsu, you…” Amuro Tooru couldn’t understand how Kagemitsu, who needed those medical devices to stay alive, could stand up.
"Mr. Shinjo and Dr. Asai performed the surgery on me and replaced my heart with an artificial one," Jingguang said with a smile. "Now I can walk freely, but I can't do strenuous exercise."
"What are your plans for the future?" Amuro Tooru coughed. "Preparing to go back..."
“Yes, I’m planning to go back to my hometown for a visit.” Jingguang looked at Amuro Tooru and immediately shut him down.
The rats in the police force haven't been cleaned up yet. Going back now will only cause trouble for Ling, and might even expose his identity.
"That's fine then." Amuro Tooru sighed. "I'll have Kazama..."
“I’d better go trouble Senior Shinjo,” Jingguang said with a smile. “You don’t have many people under you to begin with. If you borrow Kazama as well, then you’ll really have no one left to use.”
Although he had been confined to the hospital ward for a long time, he wasn't completely out of the loop. Combined with the occasional glimpses of information from Shinjo and Narumi, he was naturally able to guess his friend's current situation. As for whether it would trouble Shinjo, well, since it was already troublesome, he might as well go all the way.
“I’ll talk to him and have him come pick you up.” Amuro Tooru sighed. “By the way, what about your brother…”
"No need," Jing Guang said with a smile. "My brother's face has always been expressionless. I also want to see his expression when he sees a ghost."
"You rascal... remember to wear something warm, I'm afraid you'll get beaten up."
On the other side, Shinjo and Kogoro Mouri walked out of the Metropolitan Police Department.
Because of Maki's case, Inspector Megure invited Shinjo to the Metropolitan Police Department for questioning, as a way of cooperating with the investigation. As for Kogoro Mouri, he was going to treat Shinjo to dinner, so he went to the Metropolitan Police Department with him.
Kogoro Mouri dragged Shinjo to an izakaya (Japanese pub) and insisted on treating Shinjo to drinks.
"I said you're treating me to drinks, there's no rush," Xincheng said, holding up his wine glass.
"After that, I'll be going to Nagano Prefecture. I'm leaving tomorrow." Kogoro Mori downed his drink in one gulp. "It seems there's a very tricky case in Nagano Prefecture. The client is dragging me over to investigate."
"Nagano Prefecture?" Shinjo was taken aback. "Do you know those police officers from Nagano Prefecture?"
"We've met once in a while." Kogoro Mouri put his glass on the table. "We chatted a bit about that serial murder case."
“The ringleaders are quite a few people, but you’d better watch out for the rest,” Shinjo said, toying with his wine glass. “This isn’t Tokyo, and the prefectural police aren’t from the Metropolitan Police Department.”
"Do you know something?" Kogoro Mouri was taken aback.
“Hmm.” Shinjo did not deny it. “However, I don’t have any evidence either. I won’t say anything if I’m not sure.”
"Okay, I got it, I'll be careful." Kogoro Mouri picked up his glass. "There's something I've always been curious about: where did you learn to fly? Inspector Megure checked your license, it's real, but there's no flight record. You're not one of those 'license holders,' are you? But that doesn't seem like it, your skills..."
“A military transport plane.” Shinjo took a sip of his drink. “Of course, Megure wouldn’t be able to find out.”
Chapter 250 Nagano Prefecture Prelude
Kogoro Mouri stared at Shinjo for a long time before downing his drink in one gulp. "Whatever you say, I'm just a clueless detective. Even if you try to hide it, I can't find out."
Shinjo looked at the drunken Kogoro Mouri and couldn't help but laugh, "Isn't it clear to you? Where are you confused?"
That night, Shinjo took the drunken Kogoro Mouri back to the Mouri Detective Agency, and then began preparations for Morofushi Kagemitsu's return to his hometown.
He did have the idea of keeping Morofushi Kagemitsu by his side. Firstly, the guy was capable enough to quickly obtain a codename, which was enough to show his ability.
Secondly, there's a sense of restraint involved with Amuro Tooru. The reason Amuro Tooru is so obedient now is because the boy's life is in his own hands. If he were to be released, the bargaining power based solely on benefits would be insufficient.
However, Morofushi Kagemitsu's health was too poor, which reduced his abilities. In addition, he already had enough people under his command, so losing Amuro Tooru, who was suspected by Gin, was not a big deal.
However, just as he was arranging to take Morofushi Kagemitsu back to Nagano, a text message from Vodka made him frown.
I just resolved the problem this morning, why is this guy showing up again?
Just as he was pondering why Vodka had contacted him, Amuro Tooru called, and Vodka also sent him a text message, asking him to meet at the organization's base. In an instant, Shinjo's expression shifted from sunny to stormy, becoming extremely grim.
"What are you worried about?" Curaçao brought over a cup of coffee.
“Don’t use the hand that’s holding a gun to make coffee, it’s a waste of beans.” Shinjo rolled his eyes. “Vodka came to me and Amuro Tooru, saying he had a mission.”
"What did he figure out?" Curaçao asked with some concern. She and Xincheng were now in the same boat, and they had only been enjoying their comfortable days for a few days. She didn't want to get caught up in some storm again.
“You think too highly of him.” Shinjo interlaced his fingers. “It’s not that he saw anything, but that Gin behind him saw something. Don’t worry, Gin doesn’t dare to fight me to the death right now.”
Hearing Xincheng speak so confidently, Curaçao became even more uneasy.
After seeing Curaçao off, Shinjo turned on his computer and began browsing the intelligence gathered by Karen. However, after searching for a long time, he couldn't find any trace of any major actions by the organization.
“I think it’s about the ocean buoys,” Karen said. “Rum and Vermouth handed over the ocean buoy investigation to Gin, and Gin then handed over the ocean buoy plan to you.”
“The middlemen make a profit, they specialize in contract manufacturing.” Shinjo stroked his chin. “Gin is truly shameless.”
“It’s all because you killed Binga. It was originally his doing. He had already successfully infiltrated the ocean buoy.” Karen sighed. “This is no easy task. The ocean buoy’s monitoring system is not connected to the network. I can’t help you with that.”
“Binga should have a back door. If it’s really because of this, I’ll need to go to Frankfurt.” Xincheng stretched, leaned back in his chair, and fell asleep.
However, while he fell asleep, a group of people in the Metropolitan Police Department couldn't sleep.
The commotion at Beika Central Hospital was too great to be controlled. Adding to the chaos, the Nichiuri TV report and the release of video footage showing the complete collapse of Shinjo Private Hospital further increased the pressure on the Metropolitan Police Department.
Several senior figures were discussing countermeasures, already anticipating the barrage of criticism they would face from the media tomorrow morning. It seemed the label of "incompetence" would likely remain attached to them for some time.
Inspector Megure was sitting at the lower end of the table, with his superior, Kiyomasa Matsumoto, sitting next to him. However, Matsumoto looked even more nervous than Inspector Megure.
At times like this, a scapegoat must be scapegoated to quell public anger. Megure Juzo's influence is insufficient, but his superior is just right.
Just then, a policeman walked in and handed a document to Director Shiratori, who was sitting at the head of the table.
Director Shiratori only glanced at it a few times before coughing violently, as if he had been stimulated by something.
Facing the probing gazes of the crowd, Superintendent General Hakuba said helplessly, "An organization has claimed responsibility for this attack."
Everyone else breathed a sigh of relief. It's shameful, but it depends on who the opponent is. If it were one of those internationally notorious thugs, even if it was embarrassing, the media and the public wouldn't be too harsh; an apology would suffice.
Mouri Detective Agency
Ran looked at Kogoro Mouri, who was fast asleep, and was speechless. They were supposed to leave for Nagano this morning, but now that Kogoro was so drunk, it was obviously impossible to go. They could only wait for him to wake up.
"Dad, really, how did he get so drunk?" Xiaolan said, somewhat speechless.
"It must be because Ran-neechan is too strict with us usually. Since we finally have this opportunity, we naturally want to drink more," Conan said with a smile.
"Conan, about that case in Nagano Prefecture..." Ran asked with some concern.
Conan said somewhat helplessly, "We can only understand it clearly when we get to the scene. But this case is indeed a bit troublesome."
Just then, the news started playing on TV. Conan and Ran looked worried as they watched the news broadcast. Japan was getting more and more chaotic lately.
Just then, Kogoro Mouri rolled over, muttering, "One more drink."
Ran and Conan were both speechless; running into such an alcoholic elder was simply their bad luck.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
"You're here!" Xiaolan opened the door and was surprised to see Xincheng. "Uncle Xincheng, what brings you here?"
“Kogoro Mouri drank a lot yesterday, so I think he probably won’t wake up today,” Shinjo said with a smile. “He told me before that he was going to Nagano Prefecture to handle a case, and I thought I shouldn’t delay his work, so I came to check on him. It just so happens that I also have something to do in Nagano Prefecture.”
"That's so embarrassing," Xiaolan said, looking a little awkward.
