Hogwarts: Me? Fight Voldemort?
Page 12
"I have a goal, which is the ultimate dream I've had since I stepped into this magical world. I will dedicate my life to achieving it, even now!"
Harry's eyes widened as he looked at Ron, who was equally speechless. Even the various chess pieces on the board seemed to be staring blankly at each other.
Suddenly, they felt as if a sad, thick barrier separated them from Jimmy.
But Jimmy's dream-chasing spirit quickly vanished, and he continued to promote his assignments, "One Gallon a month, you can use mine as a reference. Ron, do me a favor and you can get a year's worth of assignments credited, how about it?"
Ron, who was half-dead, was so excited that he came back to life, but he asked hesitantly, "What kind of help?"
“It’s not too much trouble,” Jimmy said. “I’m making a card game, and you’ll help me with ideas, testing, and promotion. You might also need to copy some things.”
“I’ll do it!” Ron thought the game Jimmy mentioned was a better choice than racking his brains over doing homework.
Jimmy reached out and shook hands firmly with an excited Ron, then looked at Harry and asked, "Harry, how about you joining us!"
On the surface he was calm, but in reality he was rubbing his hands in anticipation. The principle of money ownership in the Book of Gold forced him to make money only through legal, compliant and reasonable methods.
If he directly hires others to create card games for free, the Book of Gold will determine that the profits from the card games will be equally distributed among all participants, resulting in the awkward situation where his money is no longer his money.
But now, a few assignments can buy the labor of two little bulls, Ron and Harry. Once the game is finished, all the money earned will belong to him!
Given the Golden Book's penchant for allowing him to profit from loopholes, the success rate of such verbal, overbearing terms is... 1000%!
Harry, who was originally planning to pay, immediately reached out and shook hands with Jimmy when he heard that Jimmy had also invited him.
All three of them showed genuine smiles and hit it off immediately!
Creating a card game is a huge undertaking, and Jimmy will be inviting other people to join later.
He handed the three assignments to Harry and Ron, then reminded them, "Don't just copy the Transfiguration assignments. Add your own ideas. Do the same with Professor McGonagall's assignments from now on. If we get caught, we're all in trouble!"
Ron readily agreed, but Harry felt burdened.
It's really unreasonable for someone to come to school and not do their own homework, especially since this is a magical school that will change their destiny.
"You'd better just use my homework as a reference, because magic doesn't lie, and simply copying homework won't teach you any more magic."
Jimmy eventually issued a disclaimer to avoid being held responsible if the two failed to learn the skills.
Harry and Ron seemed to understand upon hearing this, saving them the trouble of doing homework, but they still needed to remember which knowledge would help them learn more magic.
Chapter 20 Demanding Justice
After selling the homework, Jimmy returned to his dorm and left the tower with Rocket, who was still sleeping. He was going to find Professor McGonagall to confirm whether Rocket was a real animal.
It's a rare sight to see a young wizard running wildly through the castle with a fat raccoon in his arms. Jimmy attracted a lot of attention along the way, and some bold older female students even wanted to touch the raccoon and Jimmy.
After much difficulty, Jimmy finally brought Rocket to Professor McGonagall's office, knocked on the door, and only went in after receiving a response.
Professor McGonagall is grading assignments for older students. She has another class in the afternoon, so she's not having an easy time either.
When Professor McGonagall saw Jimmy carrying the rocket in, she had to remind him, "We don't allow animals other than cats, toads, rats, and owls to be kept as pets at the school. You can keep it near the Forbidden Forest. The Hogwarts key custodian will be happy to take care of this raccoon."
“Professor McGonagall, I wanted to ask you for your help.” Jimmy abruptly changed the subject, like a child frightened by a clown, pointing at the rocket on the ground and saying, “It’s too smart, Professor McGonagall. You turned into a cat this morning, so I suspect the rocket is also a wizard in disguise!”
Professor McGonagall's gaze immediately turned stern, and her hand was already on the wand at her waist.
However, the rocket on the ground remained sitting there blankly, looking up at Jimmy.
His eyes and expression seemed to say: Dude, are you serious?
This raccoon doesn't seem to be an Animagus, but let's check it out anyway...
Professor McGonagall drew her wand and waved it at Rocket. A faint white light flashed, but Rocket remained unchanged.
"Although the wizarding world is dangerous, you are absolutely safe at Hogwarts. Rocket is just an ordinary raccoon."
Several detection spells were cast in succession without any reaction, confirming Rocket's identity as an ordinary raccoon.
"A wizard's pet is influenced by the wizard and usually becomes more intelligent than ordinary animals. You can think back to when it started to become intelligent; they usually go through a process of change."
After being certified by the Transfiguration Master, Jimmy breathed a sigh of relief and picked up Rocket with an apologetic look, shaking him. "I'm so sorry, Rocket! Go to the kitchen and get some extra food for yourself tonight. I won't force you to lose weight this week."
Professor McGonagall's eye twitched slightly. "Since Rocket is your pet, you should be responsible for its health. It's too fat."
It's lying on the ground like a wooden stake. If it keeps eating like this, it'll die sooner or later. Why should we let it eat?
“Thank you, Professor McGonagall, I will remember this!” Jimmy thanked Professor McGonagall, but before he left, he took out the bag containing Galleons that Professor McGonagall had given him earlier. “Professor McGonagall, I haven’t used your money. I will ask you for help if necessary.”
Professor McGonagall looked at the money pouch, unsure of what to say. She sighed and accepted it. "Alright, if you need any help, you can tell me or other professors. The professors at the school are never stingy when it comes to helping young wizards in need."
"Of course I will, Professor McGonagall. You were the first person I thought of when I encountered this problem today!"
Jimmy picked up the rocket and left Professor McGonagall's office, using the rocket's appearance as an advantage to chat with the upperclassmen.
He wasn't just idly chatting with people; he was looking for students who could draw animated pictures to build connections for creating magic cards later. Talent is always the most important resource, no matter what.
After searching all afternoon, he finally found a third-year Ravenclaw senior who was an expert in this field and came from a family with a strong background in the subject. His name was Jacob Bruce.
Born into a wizarding family, he was tall and thin, and appeared very shy.
His father was a wizard who specialized in painting magical oil paintings, the kind of paintings that move on the walls.
Starting with his interest in oil painting, Jimmy introduced Jacob to his plans to make some games.
Jacob was also somewhat interested in the game Jimmy mentioned and agreed that he could give it a try if they ever needed to hire him later.
Jimmy needs Jacob's drawing skills, but Jacob doesn't want to contribute even a single point. What should he do?
Then we'll use trading to trap Jakob. Even if he has no demand, we'll create demand for him!
As Jimmy walked through the courtyard, he was still analyzing Jacob's personality and his friends, preparing to find an opportunity to subtly probe them.
He met a female student on the Hogwarts Express, so he should be able to learn about Giacobote's daily life and hobbies through her connections, right?
Just then, two fat hands suddenly landed on Jimmy's shoulders, bringing him back to his senses. He glanced left and right and saw two fat men of similar size blocking his way.
Then, the blond-haired Malfoy walked around to Jimmy's side. He seemed to still be immersed in the game from the previous night, and even had his two henchmen push Jimmy to an abandoned classroom where no one was.
Once inside the classroom, Malfoy immediately launched into his attack, his tone still as mild as if he were imitating an adult, "Bryan, if I were you, I would think carefully before I speak, because you don't have the chance to make a mistake!"
That's enough for you!
Jimmy's lips twitched. This was a wizarding world, and having two large henchmen wouldn't scare anyone. Two spells would knock them down. The two fat men were too slow to react, even if they had the brain to dodge the spells.
But thinking of Draco Malfoy's gold-trimmed dragon-skin wallet, he felt he should maintain a certain friendly relationship with the dragon. "Oh! My dear Mr. Malfoy, is there anything I can help you with?"
Malfoy was somewhat taken aback, clearly not expecting Jimmy to say that. In his script, Jimmy should have been vehemently defending himself for being sorted into Gryffindor.
He paused for a couple of seconds before remembering that he had come to confront him, and put on a fierce expression. "That won't work on me! Blaine, you know what I'm talking about?"
"What?" The genuine confusion on Jimmy's face left Malfoy at a loss for words.
What's even more infuriating is that Crabbe and Gore, who were standing behind Jimmy to make a scene, also looked bewildered, as they had no idea what Jimmy wanted.
Malfoy was so angry that he couldn't even maintain his suspenseful tone, and he said angrily, "Gryffindor, you were actually sorted into Gryffindor!"
"Huh?" Jimmy spread his hands innocently and said, "That was the Sorting Hat's decision. That lousy hat was shouting 'Gryffindor!' before it even touched my head! It even shouted it twice!"
When talking about the Sorting Hat, he even perfectly imitated the tone of a hat that couldn't wait to send him away.
Jimmy completely controlled the rhythm, and Malfoy took a step back. His original accusation seemed like a foolish act, which made him very uncomfortable.
“This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, is it?” Having said enough, Jimmy offered Malfoy a way out. “I believe my professional ethics are worthy of my identity as an intelligence dealer. I am neutral, and Mr. Malfoy will have no problem knowing anything that happens in Gryffindor.”
Malfoy hesitated, feeling that something was amiss, but couldn't think of a rebuttal. "Well, that's true."
Jimmy pressed his advantage, "I share a dorm room with Harry Potter, so I suppose you're quite interested in information about him? I've also heard that many people in Slytherin are dissatisfied with the Savior..."
Chapter 21 Scripted Phrases
After chatting for about half an hour, this half-hearted exchange finally came to an end.
Jimmy was very satisfied because Malfoy spent 5 Galleons to find out Harry's opinion of him, as well as Harry's personality and hobbies.
They also managed to learn part of Slytherin's attitude towards the Savior. Malfoy, like a drum that couldn't keep secrets, spilled them all over the place.
Malfoy was also very satisfied, because he only spent 5 Galleons to find out Harry Potter's secret.
In short, both sides are completely exhausted from winning!
Jimmy calculated that he had earned thirty Galleons in the past few days, with the biggest contributor being young Master Malfoy, whose expenses alone amounted to 15 Galleons.
He couldn't even imagine how much pocket money Malfoy had!
It was almost lunchtime, so Jimmy left the rocket on the lawn in the courtyard and casually returned to the common room. There weren't many people in the common room; most preferred to hang out outside.
Ron was still teaching Harry to play chess, with the completed homework next to him; they had copied it all while he was gone.
“Jimmy, would you like to try wizard chess?” Harry asked Jimmy when he saw him. “I’ve never won against Ron in a game of chess.”
Ron wore a smug expression; this was one of the few skills he was truly proud of.
"Sure, but I've never played it before."
With nothing much to do, Jimmy decided to relax and take the opportunity to complete Malfoy's request.
“It’s okay, I can teach you!” Ron quickly tidied up the chessboard.
Harry made way for Jimmy and sat on the armrest of the sofa to watch the two play chess.
After understanding the rules, Jimmy and Ron began their chess game. Although it was their first time playing, Jimmy was quite good at this type of board game and wasn't completely dominated by Ron in the first round.
By the third inning, the two sides were evenly matched, and Ron was sweating profusely, while Jimmy had time to talk about his recent encounter with Malfoy.
"Speaking of which, I just ran into Malfoy outside. He was saying that the people in Slytherin treated you, Harry, very badly."
Harry's attention immediately shifted from the chess game to Jimmy's topic, and he asked, "What's wrong?"
Ron, who had been engrossed in his chess game, seemed to have a switch flipped when he heard Malfoy's name. He stopped playing and exclaimed indignantly, "What else could it be? Slytherin is full of dark wizards. They must be doing this because of you, Harry..."
He paused halfway through his sentence, as if he had gone through great difficulties before continuing.
"You defeated the Mystic! Just wait, the people of Slytherin will definitely target you!"
Jimmy feigned surprise, "Really? I thought the people in Slytherin were just a little difficult to get along with."
"Not easy to get along with? You actually think that way about those Slytherins... Oh, sorry, I forgot you're a Muggle wizard."
For the next half hour, Ron talked about how wicked the Slytherins were, how many bad things they had done, and he got more and more excited as he talked.
It seems that Ron gets very excited when there is an audience, and his words unconsciously become exaggerated.
During one of the brief pauses, Jimmy brought up Malfoy, "I've spoken to Malfoy too, and he doesn't seem like the kind of person who's rotten to the core. What do you think, Harry?"
