A short sword had appeared in the girl's hand without her noticing, and she used it to block Murasame's attack. The sparks from the clash of the two weapons were particularly striking in the darkness.
In the next five seconds, they exchanged attacks and defenses thirty times, the sounds of collisions echoing throughout the room.
"You're cheating." After her final block, the girl used the momentum to leap backward, landing three meters away. "See you next time, Chu Zihang and Frillie."
She threw a metal ball, which exploded in mid-air, releasing a blinding flash of light and thick smoke.
Chu Zihang rushed out of the smoke, but the girl had already disappeared.
Schneider's voice came through the earpiece: "Chu Zihang and Frillie, report the situation!"
“Floor 21 cleared.” Chu Zihang’s breathing gradually stabilized, and the light in his golden eyes began to dim. “A high-level hybrid has been discovered. She is female and her Word of Power is controlled by Azure Thunder. She has escaped.”
He looked in the direction the girl had disappeared, his brow furrowed slightly. The voice sounded somewhat familiar; the other person seemed to know him.
The side effects of overusing the power of words began to appear. Chu Zihang felt dizzy and had to lean against the wall for support; his body temperature was alarmingly high.
"Mission," Chu Zihang gritted his teeth and walked towards Tang Wei's office. The mission wasn't over yet; he had to find the hunter who took the documents before he was completely incapacitated.
"You rest first, I'll take care of you," Frilian said, using healing magic on Chu Zihang and helping him sit down.
The office door was ajar, and rapid breathing could be heard from inside. Frillie pushed the door open, and Tang Wei frantically stuffed US dollars into his briefcase.
"Don't move," Frillie said, raising her wand. "Let's talk about the whereabouts of the documents."
Chapter 50 Where Did the Documents Go?
Tang Wei's briefcase fell to the ground with a "thud," and several bundles of banknotes slid out.
He slowly raised his hands, large beads of sweat sliding down his forehead. The silver-haired, pointy-eared girl before him looked harmless, yet she made all the hairs on his body stand on end.
"I surrender," Tang Wei said hoarsely, staring intently at the wand in Frillie's hand. "Don't hurt me."
Frillie took a step forward, a faint glow emanating from the tip of her wand. "Do you know the whereabouts of the documents?"
With a "whoosh," Tang Wei reached into his sleeve. A flash of cold light, and a modified Magnum pistol was pointed at Frillie's forehead.
"Back off!" Tang Wei roared, his pupils turning gold.
Golden Eyes—his secret hidden for many years. In elementary school, it could make bullies flee in terror; after starting his business, it could make competitors back down.
But at this moment, the mental suppression from the Golden Eyes shattered before the girl's emerald eyes, as if it had crashed into an invisible wall.
"Where is the file?" Frillie's tone remained unchanged.
Tang Wei pulled the trigger.
"Bang!" The bullet pierced through Frillie's head, but it seemed to pass through a phantom, which vanished like a mirage.
The bullet left a smoky hole in the wall.
"what?"
"Behind you," Frillie's voice came from behind him, and Tang Wei felt something hard pressing against his back.
Tang Wei's blood froze. He slowly turned his head, and the silver-haired girl stood behind him, her magic wand pointing at him.
"I, I..." Tang Wei's throat tightened, and the pistol slipped from his sweaty hand and fell to the ground. "The documents were taken by a man wearing a McDonald's bag. Just now, he also gave me half a million US dollars."
Frillie glanced around the office. On the wall hung a faded old photograph: a serious-looking middle-aged man standing by a lake, holding a large fish in his hand.
She narrowed her eyes: "Your father?"
Tang Wei's body stiffened for a moment: "You, how did you know?"
“The eyes are very similar,” Frillian said softly, gently pushing her wand forward. “Take a nap.”
A flash of blue light, and Tang Wei collapsed to the ground as if his bones had been removed.
Frillie knelt down, checked his pulse, and after confirming that he was only unconscious, began to clean up the scene.
She placed Tang Wei and the other unconscious thugs side by side in the corner of the office, then walked over to the masked corpses that had been charred by Chu Zihang's Junyan.
He chanted an ancient incantation in a low voice, and blue flames flowed from the tip of the wand, enveloping each corpse.
There was no smoke, no stench, only a slight hissing sound, and a few seconds later, not a speck of ash remained on the ground.
"Tap tap," the sound of footsteps.
"How's the recovery going?" Frilian asked without turning her head.
Chu Zihang slowly emerged from the shadows, his face pale. "He's recovering much faster than expected."
He flexed his wrist. "Your Word of Power Magician can actually heal wounds."
"It's good that you're alright." Frillie put away her wand. "The elevator still works, let's go."
The two silently entered the elevator. Chu Zihang secretly observed the silver-haired girl beside him through the mirror inside the elevator.
Frillian may seem like an ordinary girl, but the abilities she just displayed—illusion, teleportation, healing, and purification—each exceeded Chu Zihang's understanding of Word Power.
As the elevator descended, Frilian spoke up: "That girl who used the Azure Lightning Control technique earlier is no ordinary person."
Chu Zihang's gaze sharpened: "Why do you say that?"
"intuition."
Chu Zihang wanted to ask more questions, but the elevator "dinged" and arrived at the first floor.
In the lobby, the staff from the school's public affairs department brought the situation under control. These burly men in strange costumes injected the unconscious security guards with a memory-erasing agent.
"Mission complete," Chu Zihang said, leading Frilian toward the black Mercedes parked outside.
Meanwhile, at the main campus of Kassel College, in the central control room.
Professor Schneider's iron mask looked particularly sinister under the blue light of the screen.
The three screens in front of him were playing the battle footage from the 21st floor of the building, Chu Zihang's physiological data when he "suspected of bleeding out," and a clip of Frilian using "Word of Power: Magician."
"Chu Zihang's burst blood duration has increased significantly compared to last time," Schneider coughed a few times, "cough cough, improved control, reduced danger."
Professor Guderian grabbed his messy white hair: "But Blood Explosion is still a forbidden technique! Every time it is used, it accelerates his corruption! Moreover, his Word of Power, Monarch's Flame, is undoubtedly a high-risk Word of Power. Once it gets out of control, the consequences will be unimaginable."
“He hasn’t lost control in the past two years,” Schneider scoffed. “I’m more concerned about A-rank Frillie than that.”
Professor Manstein adjusted his glasses and zoomed in on Frilian's image: "Frilian, an A-level freshman, possesses the following abilities: spatial teleportation, illusion creation, energy manipulation, matter decomposition, and accelerated healing. Each ability is equivalent to an independent Word of Power, although the sustainability of each ability is relatively weak."
Schneider tapped the table. "Her bloodline purity may be far greater than we imagine."
"Impossible!" Guderian jumped up. "Even an S-rank couldn't possess so many Word Powers at the same time! Unless she is."
“Dragon King? Guderian, are you crazy?” Manstein replied coldly. “The 3E exam has a follow-up bloodline test, which shows that Frilian is undoubtedly an A-grade hybrid.”
The three fell silent.
On the screen, Frilian looked up at the hidden camera, as if staring directly at them through the screen. She spread her arms and made a strange gesture.
"What is this?" Guderian asked, leaning closer to the screen.
"Is it like praising the sun?" Manstein frowned.
Schneider coughed violently, and after he calmed down, his voice was even more hoarse: "No matter what, Frilian is still our student. Don't interfere too much."
"What about Chu Zihang?" Guderian pressed.
"Same. He is the sharpest sword in our execution department's hands, and we cannot sheath it for fear of hurting our hands."
Manstein sighed and pulled up a file: "When Frilian and Lu Mingfei chatted, they often claimed to be from 'another world' and used 'magic' rather than words of power."
"Another world?" Guderian's eyes lit up. "Could it be that Frilian is a magician from another world? Mingfei even co-founded the 'Magician's Guild' with her!"
“Calm down, Guderian. Don’t talk nonsense about something that’s obviously fake,” Schneider interrupted him. “The most important thing is to find the guy wearing the McDonald’s bag.”
“I’ll send people to intensify the search immediately,” Manstein said, dialing Flamel’s number. He wanted to ask his father if any words could manifest different abilities.
Chapter 51 I Have Someone I Like
“Mingfei, you’ve changed,” Chen Wenwen said, looking up.
"Hmm? Why do you say that?" Lu Mingfei asked, taking his seat as guided by the white-clad waiter.
The waiter in white lit the candles on the table with a lighter, and the flames popped up, illuminating the dining room.
“Yeah, Mingfei, you’ve changed so much,” Chen Wenwen said, twisting her fingers.
She wore a light blue dress and had on exquisite makeup today, but she felt very awkward sitting opposite Lu Mingfei.
Lu Mingfei laughed, "People always change. If you don't grow up at all, then you've wasted your life."
A waiter in white approached silently and placed the first appetizer in front of the two: sea urchin with caviar and green apple puree.
"This is our signature appetizer, made with the freshest seasonal ingredients."
"Sea urchin, served with caviar, and green apple puree to neutralize the astringency of the sea urchin," Lu Mingfei naturally took over the waiter's words, scooped up a small piece of golden sea urchin and put it in his mouth, "It's quite delicious."
Chen Wenwen: "Wow, you know so much."
Lu Mingfei wasn't just boasting; Caesar had taken him and Frilian out to eat plenty of good food. After eating so much, they became familiar with these things.
The waiters served the dishes one after another: foie gras with jam, black truffle pasta, Wellington steak, and pan-fried cod.
Lu Mingfei could name the ingredients and how to cook each dish. Chen Wenwen watched him talk so fluently that she could hardly recognize him as the timid boy from high school.
"How's university life?" Chen Wenwen asked casually.
Lu Mingfei thought for a moment. There was Frilian, Fingel, Chu Zihang, Caesar, Zero, Nono, Susie, and also Senior Ye Sheng and Senior Jiu Deya.
"Life is quite fulfilling."
"Really? That's good." Chen Wenwen's voice lowered, a hint of disappointment flashing in her eyes.
A waiter in white turned on the gramophone in the corner, and a lazy, melancholic melody filled the restaurant.
“The River of No Return.” Lu Mingfei recognized the words.
"You actually know this song."
"I know a little bit." Ling likes to listen to this song, and Lu Mingfei often hears it when he goes to borrow notes.
Chen Wenwen took a deep breath, her fingers gripping the napkin tightly. "Lu Mingfei, I—"
Time stopped. The candle flames ceased flickering, and the music stopped abruptly.
"Oh dear, it seems I've unfortunately interrupted the girl's heartfelt confession." A familiar voice rang out, and Lu Mingze replaced Chen Wenwen, resting his chin on his hand and smiling at Lu Mingfei.
