The document fluttered down to Manstein's feet. He hesitated for a moment, then bent down to pick it up.

After glancing at it a few times, his pupils contracted: "This, this is impossible."

"Your father, Vice Principal Flamel, specifically instructed you to take care of Frillie," Schneider pointed to a line on the document. "Chen Motong, after the White Emperor City incident, her mentor, Professor Mans, retired, and you took over."

Guderian wrung his hands nervously: "Who's on the list?"

Schneider flipped through the documents: "Chu Zihang, has been suspected of being semi-out of control due to violent law enforcement in multiple missions; Lu Mingfei, S-rank, with bloodline fluctuating around 40%; Chen Motong, has not awakened any Word Spirits, which is extremely rare among hybrids; Frilian, her Word Spirit Magician has shown multiple ability effects, which does not conform to the basic rules of Word Spirits."

The meeting room fell into dead silence.

Manstein pressed his forehead against the wall, breathing heavily: "What should we do? Report it to the board of trustees?"

"And then watch them get disposed of?" Guderian became agitated. "Mingfei is my student! He's just a kid!"

“Chu Zihang is my best trainee,” Schneider said. “If he really gets out of control, I’ll handle him.”

Manstein slowly walked back to the table. "Frilian, Father never explained to me why he was giving her special attention."

He smiled wryly, "Chen Motong, well, it's partly my own selfish reason."

Schneider closed the file and walked to the shredder by the wall.

Under the astonished gazes of the other two, documents were destroyed one after another.

"You!" Manstein exclaimed in shock.

“Nothing happened tonight,” Schneider said without turning his head. “The box was damaged in transit, and some of the documents were damaged.”

Guderian paused for two seconds, then quickly stepped forward to help.

Manstein stood there struggling for a moment, then sighed, picked up a lighter from the table, and lit the remaining documents concerning Chu Zihang, Lu Mingfei, Frilian, and Chen Motong.

In the flames, the investigation report on Chu Zihang's father's disappearance, Lu Mingfei's bloodline analysis, Frilian's ability records, and Chen Motong's surveillance files were all reduced to ashes.

Chapter 59 I want to eat fried dough sticks with soy milk

Lu Mingfei, still half-asleep, yawned and opened his eyes. He blinked, trying to shake off the sleepiness; his eyelids felt as heavy as lead.

"Senior brother?" he called out instinctively.

no respond.

Lu Mingfei propped himself up and looked to the side. Chu Zihang's bed was empty, and the sheets he had slept on were neatly folded without a single wrinkle.

"Where is he?" Lu Mingfei muttered.

Sunlight streamed through the curtains, bathing the room in a soft golden glow.

Lu Mingfei squinted; the light was too gentle, almost unreal.

He wanted to go next door and knock on Frilian and Xia Mi's door to ask about the situation, but his legs felt heavy as if they were bound by invisible chains, and he had a dazed feeling of being in a dream.

"Damn it," Lu Mingfei patted his cheeks, trying to clear his head.

This sense of unreality made him start to overthink.

What would happen if I hadn't enrolled in Kassel? Maybe I'd be wasting my time at some third-rate university, playing video games every day and worrying about failing my courses.

What if I don't meet Frillie at the arcade?

And then there's Lao Tang, if he hadn't made a deal with Lu Mingze.

"Lu Mingze?" Lu Mingfei exclaimed, startled. "That's right!"

He suddenly realized that this dreamlike state was most likely Lu Mingze's doing.

Lu Mingfei cleared his throat and, adopting an emperor-like posture, shouted, "Where is my imperial chef?"

No sooner had he finished speaking than the door creaked open.

Lu Mingze pushed in a gleaming silver food cart, wearing an exaggerated white chef's uniform with a golden dragon embroidered on the collar and a tall hat on his head, looking exactly like a character who jumped out of "Cooking Master Boy".

"Your Majesty is awake?" Lu Mingze bowed with a smile, his voice as sweet as honey. "Breakfast is ready, please have your meal."

Lu Mingfei leaned back on the pillow, sizing up his elusive younger brother. The chef's uniform looked surprisingly good on him, as if he was born to be a master chef.

Lu Mingfei snorted coldly, leaned lazily against the pillow, and struck an emperor-like pose: "I'm hungry, what's good to eat?"

Lu Mingze lifted the silver lid on the food cart and began to introduce the dishes as if they were his own treasures: "Today's specials: French foie gras with truffle sauce, English fried eggs, Japanese tamagoyaki, and American pancakes with maple syrup."

Lu Mingfei frowned as he listened, and waved his hand, "Stop, stop, stop! I'm not used to foreign stuff. Fried dough sticks with soy milk will do."

Lu Mingze sighed and took out a rustic wooden food box from the lower level of the food cart: "Your Majesty really does prefer traditional flavors."

He slowly opened the lid of the food box, and steaming white mist filled the air.

Two bowls of white and tender tofu pudding lay quietly in blue and white porcelain bowls, sprinkled with bright green scallions and amber-colored soy sauce.

Next to it were two golden and crispy fried dough sticks, and several side dishes, including spicy and sour radish cubes, pickled cucumber slices, and a small dish of chili oil.

Lu Mingfei's stomach rumbled loudly, much to his dismay.

"He's quite sensible," he muttered, taking the chopsticks Lu Mingze handed him, picking up a piece of fried dough stick and taking a bite.

The crispy outer layer cracked between his teeth, while the soft, fragrant dough inside was mixed with a faint alkaline taste, a familiar sensation that brought a lump to his throat.

"How was it?" Lu Mingze asked, resting his chin on his hand and smiling at him.

"It's alright," Lu Mingfei said stubbornly, but his hands didn't stop moving as he scooped up another spoonful of tofu pudding and put it in his mouth.

The smooth tofu pudding melts in your mouth, and the savory broth slides down your throat, instantly spreading warmth from your stomach throughout your body.

Lu Mingze also picked up a bowl and ate slowly. The two were silent for a moment, and only the soft clinking of bowls and chopsticks could be heard in the room.

"So," Lu Mingfei swallowed the last bite of the fried dough stick and wiped his mouth, "what do you want from me this time? To trade a quarter of your life?"

Lu Mingze put down his bowl and sighed, "Brother, you think too badly of me."

He tilted his head, revealing a wronged expression, his eyes wet like an abandoned puppy, "This time it's a thank you to our loyal customers, free service."

Lu Mingfei stared at him suspiciously: "Free?"

"Of course!" Lu Mingze's expression changed, and he smiled brightly. "After all, you'll need money later, so I'm here to give you some support in advance."

"Need money?" Lu Mingfei was taken aback. "What would I need money for?"

Lu Mingze winked mysteriously: "The secret cannot be revealed~ But don't worry, the operation is very simple."

He magically produced a gold card and handed it to Lu Mingfei. "The cheat code is 'show me the money.' This card is like a cheat device. Put it in your pocket, enter the cheat code once, and you can add $1. It's unlimited!"

Lu Mingfei took the card and examined it from all angles: "You think this is StarCraft?"

"As long as it works, that's fine~", Lu Mingze said with a grin, handing over another folded note. "By the way, someone left you a message."

Lu Mingfei unfolded the slip of paper, on which was Xia Mi's flamboyant handwriting:

[Senior Brother Lu! Meet downstairs in a bit, Principal Angers is here, it's important! Come quickly! —Xia Mi]

"Principal Angers?" Lu Mingfei asked, completely bewildered. "What's he doing here?"

Lu Mingze smiled without saying a word, wiped the corner of his mouth, and then snapped his fingers.

"Snapped!"

Lu Mingfei opened his eyes.

Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains, making him squint.

He paused for two seconds, sat up, and looked around. Chu Zihang's bed was still neatly made as if no one had ever used it. The room was so quiet that he could hear his own heartbeat.

"A dream?" He looked down at his hands, his palms were empty, and when he reached into his pocket, there was indeed a gold card.

The next second, the phone on the bedside table vibrated. It was a text message from Xia Mi: "Senior Brother Lu! Get up! The principal is getting impatient!!!"

This was followed by three exclamation marks and a series of terrified expressions.

Lu Mingfei sprang out of bed with a jolt, hastily threw on some clothes, and rushed into the bathroom. His reflection in the mirror showed hair as a mess, like a bird's nest, and prominent dark circles under his eyes.

He quickly brushed his teeth and washed his face, flattened his hair with water, grabbed his coat, and rushed out the door.

Lu Mingfei ran to the door of Frilian and Xia Mi's room, and just as he was about to knock, the door opened by itself.

"Finally awake?" Xia Mi stood at the door with her hands on her hips, wearing a T-shirt with a cartoon dragon pattern and denim shorts, looking full of energy. "We've been waiting for you for half an hour!"

"Sorry, sorry, I overslept," Lu Mingfei apologized, glancing past Xia Mi into the room.

Frillie sat on a chair by the window, wearing a simple white dress and holding a book in her hands.

"Good morning," Frilian said softly.

"The principal is waiting for us downstairs," Xia Mi said, pulling Lu Mingfei's arm as they walked out. "He said he has a mission!"

"Where's my senior brother?" Lu Mingfei asked as he was being dragged along.

“I went down a long time ago. Do you think everyone can sleep like you?” Xia Mi rolled her eyes.

Frillie closed the book, stood up, and followed.

Chapter 60 Auction

Lu Mingfei followed Frilian and Xia Mi downstairs. Sunlight shone on the modified black SUV parked by the roadside. The car's body lines were sharp, and the tires were thick; it was clearly not an ordinary civilian vehicle.

Two people stood beside the car. Principal Angers was wearing a well-tailored suit, his silver-gray hair was neatly combed, and he held a half-lit cigar in his hand.

Chu Zihang stood expressionless, holding a small freezer in his hands, creating a very incongruous scene.

"Wow, this car is so cool," Xia Mi whistled, her ponytail swaying behind her head. "Tasteful."

"Thank you for the compliment, hello everyone," Angers said with a smile and a wave, his tone as relaxed as if he were bumping into an old friend. "Here, have some ice cream."

Lu Mingfei looked puzzled, realizing he had gotten up early today.

Chu Zihang silently opened the small freezer, took out a few ice creams, and gave one to each person.

Lu Mingfei took the ice cream. The wrapper had English writing on it, and he could barely make out that it was lemon flavored.

He took a bite, and the sourness made his whole face scrunch up. He had never liked sour tastes since he was a child; when he was little, the lemon candy his mother made could make him hide all day.

"Ouch, so sour!"

Frillie glanced at him, looked down at the strawberry ice cream in her hand, and silently handed it over: "Want to trade?"

Lu Mingfei was so moved he almost cried: "Frilian, you are truly my angel!"
