"I can't turn back now!"
"From the day she died, I could never turn back!"
After shouting the last sentence, she felt as if all her strength had been drained away, and she collapsed softly to the ground, leaving only silent sobs.
The room fell silent.
Only the candlelight flickered, illuminating the slashed statue of a god and the woman on the ground who had completely collapsed.
Xu Yanli stood in front of her, looking down at her.
I watched it for a very long time.
"You've finished speaking."
His voice was calm and completely still.
Duchess Baihu looked up at him, her eyes blurred with tears.
"Then let me ask you."
Chapter 75 Beware of Xu Tianran
Xu Yanli squatted down to be at eye level with her.
"You've been kneeling before her for twelve years, but you've never understood what makes her most powerful: she never gives up, never accepts her fate, and even in death, she'll still try to take a bite out of her enemy."
"She walked her own path until her death."
"She has never knelt before anyone."
"I've never asked anyone for anything."
"I did not rely on anyone's salvation."
He stood up and looked down at her.
"And you."
"You knelt before her for twelve years, and in the end, all you got was to kill a woman who looked like her, live in a house with a broken idol, and live like a walking corpse."
“You have never been her believer.”
"You're a coward."
The Duchess of White Tiger's body trembled violently.
She opened her mouth, as if trying to say something, but couldn't utter a single word.
Tears kept flowing, and her lips trembled incessantly, yet she couldn't utter a sound.
Xu Yanli took one last look at her.
There was no hatred, no anger, and not a trace of pity in those eyes.
There was only a calm coldness.
It's like looking at someone who's already dead.
He turned and walked out.
Duchess White Tiger watched his retreating figure, the face that looked exactly like the statue, and the boy who walked step by step into the darkness.
She suddenly understood.
He didn't come here today to kill her.
He came to let her see things clearly.
Realize how pathetic your life has been.
"Wait...wait..."
Her voice was so hoarse it was almost inaudible.
Xu Yanli didn't stop.
"Wait a minute!"
She struggled to sit up and reached out her hand to him.
"You...you're just leaving like that?"
"You're not going to kill me?"
Xu Yanli finally stopped.
He didn't turn around.
"Kill you?"
His voice was flat, revealing no emotion.
"You're already dead."
"From the moment you knelt before the idol, you were already dead."
Duchess White Tiger's hand froze in mid-air.
She stared blankly at the back of that figure, at that profile that looked exactly like the statue.
Then she smiled.
His smile looked worse than his tears.
"So that's how it is..."
She murmured, her voice growing softer and softer.
"I'm already dead..."
"I'm already dead..."
The candlelight was still flickering.
The slashed statue of the deity stood silently on the altar.
The face of the statue was slashed beyond recognition.
But that face was exactly the same as the boy's face at the door.
Xu Yanli stood at the doorway, the moonlight shining in from outside, casting a long shadow on the ground.
He didn't turn around.
He simply raised his hand.
Dark purple destructive power slowly gathered in his palm, and the dragon's might silently spread out.
Duchess White Tiger raised her head, looking at the purple light and the face that looked exactly like the statue.
She didn't dodge.
They weren't afraid at all.
She just smiled slightly.
The laugh was light and faint, carrying a sense of relief at finally being free.
“Tell her…”
She spoke softly.
“Tell her that I can finally…go see her.”
Xu Yanli's hand paused for a moment.
The next second, the power of the Purple Emperor Annihilating the Heavenly Dragon suddenly erupted.
A dark purple light of destruction instantly engulfed the entire room.
There were no screams.
There was no struggle.
For a fleeting moment, the Duchess of White Tiger smiled.
Like someone who has walked in the dark for too long, finally seeing the light.
The light dissipated.
On the altar, the slashed statue of the deity still stands quietly.
At the foot of the statue, amidst a pile of ashes, a new handful appeared.
The ashes were light and thin, as if they had never existed.
Xu Yanli stood at the door, looking at the handful of ashes.
I watched it for a very long time.
He raised his hand.
As the moonlight shifted, the power of Yin silently spread.
He gently spun up the ashes and let them drift out the window, into the night sky, and towards where the moon rises.
The ashes scattered in the wind, leaving nothing behind.
Long Xiaoyao emerged from the shadows.
He glanced at the empty room, then at the broken statue, and finally at Xu Yanli.
Xu Yanli's face remained expressionless.
But those eyes were deeper than when they arrived.
“Let’s go,” he said.
The voice was very soft and faint, as if nothing had just happened.
Long Xiaoyao nodded.
Two figures blended into the night and disappeared into the deathly silent courtyard.
The moon is still hanging in the sky.
