Seeing the planes and tanks of Amestris wreaking havoc, and the cannons of the giant ships on the sea now aimed at him, he couldn't even muster the thought of resistance.
What exactly are they here for? What do they want? I have absolutely no idea!
Isaac crawled out from the top of the tank, picked up the walkie-talkie, turned it on amplification, and shouted:
“I am Lieutenant General Isaac Yao of Amestoris. Bring your leader out to see me!”
His words were heard by all the civilians in the area and everyone inside the general's mansion through the tank's built-in loudspeaker.
There's no way to hide it now.
Under everyone's watchful eyes, the general steeled himself and led a few warriors out of his residence.
Once outside, he finally saw the person who had shouted, who appeared to be even younger than his son, which surprised him slightly.
"You're the leader of Japan, right?" Isaac asked, looking at the middle-aged man with a long beard.
"Lieutenant General of Mestolis, I am the general here." The general's body trembled as he spoke, his body bowed in fear as he looked at the tanks surrounding him and the helicopters overhead. "Your Excellency's presence is an honor; we have failed to greet you properly..."
"Hello." Isaac clearly didn't want to waste any more words with him and extended his hand.
"Hello... Hello." The general wiped his hands vigorously on his robe and grasped Isaac's hand.
He felt a deep-seated fear when facing the young man in front of him, his nerves were constantly on edge, afraid of saying the wrong thing and displeasing the young man.
"May I ask... what brings you to Jin Gang Guo?"
“Then I’ll be frank.” Isaac didn’t know why the ruler of Japan in front of him was trembling so violently, but he still said, “I hope you can hand over this country.”
"What!?"
The general took a step back in disbelief, while the warriors behind him raised their swords to block his way.
Isaac continued, unconcerned, "Your country has been closed off for twenty years, and the people are suffering. When faced with the invasion of non-human creatures, you did not resist but instead stayed in your own homes, treating yourselves like livestock. I do not believe you have the right to own this land, so I have come here specifically to take over this country from you."
"you……"
The general was speechless for a moment.
He wanted to shout, but looking at the planes and cannons that had just been suppressing the Kabane, he didn't have the courage to make a sound.
Isaac's statement was essentially telling you, "I'm going to rob you outright." But even so, the general still didn't consider resistance.
"This matter is sudden. May I go back and discuss it with the elders?"
“Okay, I’ll give you 24 hours to consider it. I need a response after 24 hours,” Isaac agreed.
"Thank you very much. We will definitely give you a satisfactory answer."
The general is the ruler of Japan, but he is always subservient to Isaac. The samurai behind him can understand this, because they are terrified when they see these weapons.
The katana he held in his hand was trembling slightly.
“On behalf of Amestoris, I’d like to offer you a word of advice,” Isaac said, looking at the general who stood before him like a quail. “You’d better not resist, because once the war begins, there will only be one outcome: Amestoris will win.”
Isaac's words struck the general's heart like a heavy hammer.
Isaac's army had previously massacred the Kabane simply to demonstrate their strength and instill awe in them.
It is clear that the plan was very successful.
“Don’t forget, you only have twenty-four hours,” Isaac said, turning back to jump onto the tank. “Fall back!”
The tanks gradually left, and the helicopters that had been hovering in the air also flew away. Silence returned to the area around the general's mansion.
thump.
"General!"
After seeing Isaac and the others leave, the general felt weak and collapsed to the ground. It was a nearby warrior who helped him up.
His forehead and back were covered in sweat.
"Let's go back first."
Supported by the warriors, he returned to the general's mansion, where he would discuss with the officials how to deal with Isaac's demands.
……
Inside the general's mansion, the group sat in a circle, kneeling on the ground as they discussed the incident.
"General, that man named Isaac is going too far!" one of them shouted. "We should take the initiative and attack!"
"General, I think this is actually a good opportunity. With them around, we don't need to waste our energy dealing with the Kabane..."
"Damn it! Do you want to hand over this country like that?"
"That's still better than hiding inside the walls! We can't even beat the Kabane, how are we supposed to fight them!?"
Everyone started arguing amongst themselves, but no one could come up with a good idea. Isaac's arrival threw the country's top leadership into chaos.
“General, I have an idea,” one of the middle-aged men said, raising his hand.
"Oh? Shifangchuan? Tell me."
"Yes, General, what do you think of the army of that country called Amestris?" Yoshikawa asked.
"You've already seen it yourself, haven't you? They're incredibly powerful." The general frowned. "Even if we mobilized the entire nation, we still wouldn't be a match for them."
"Then why didn't they attack immediately?"
"You mean..." The general seemed to understand something.
"I believe we should try to buy as much time as possible, so that we will have more time to consider countermeasures."
This idea was utterly stupid, but for a cowardly general, it was indeed a good one. He could escape for as long as possible.
But Isaac isn't someone who's easy to talk to.
On the ship, Isaac ordered, "Start the timer now. Once 24 hours have passed, open fire no matter what they say."
Chapter 407: Let's play Gwent!
A line of soldiers on the shore began to set up camp. The Kabane that had been there had already been cleared out, so their camp was relatively safe.
Isaac checked the time on the battleship; it was roughly 24 hours past the next morning. If the enemy didn't respond or decide to fight to the death by then, it would mean war was inevitable.
According to Isaac's observation, once the battle begins, as long as his soldiers don't act recklessly, taking down King Kong Guo with zero casualties would be a piece of cake.
"Twenty-four hours is so long. I should have just given them twelve hours." Isaac slumped boredly on the table in the command room.
The soldiers at the camp either played cards, chatted, or simply went to sleep. They understood that this mission seemed far too easy.
Feeling bored, Isaac jumped off the ship and went to where the soldiers were encamped.
"Oh? Lieutenant General, you're here. Want to play cards with us?" Several soldiers were playing cards when they saw Isaac come over and invited him directly.
“What’s so fun about playing cards? I have something good here,” Isaac said mysteriously, pulling a deck of cards with beautiful designs from his pocket.
"what is this?"
"It looks quite pretty."
The soldiers gathered around to look at the cards in Isaac's hand.
“This thing is called Gwent, it’s really fun,” Isaac laughed. “Any of you interested? I can teach you how to play.”
"I'm interested!"
"Let the lieutenant general teach us."
They naturally won't reject new things.
Not long after Isaac explained the rules, the group was dealt several decks of cards and then formed two-person teams to start playing.
"It's a deal, you buy me a drink if I lose a game."
"Lieutenant General, you have such a high salary, why do you need us to treat you to drinks?"
“I still run a company, and it’s still in the operational phase, so every little bit helps,” Isaac said, holding up his cards.
"...You're so stingy."
"Stop talking nonsense, I won this game 20-8 again."
"Ugh, damn it!"
"Lieutenant General, it's my turn next!" a soldier shouted.
At this point, everyone except the soldiers still on patrol had started playing cards in a cryptic manner.
"Lieutenant General, can I participate too?"
A soft voice rang out, and the soldiers turned around to see Violet standing behind them.
“Oh? Violet, are you interested in this?” Isaac asked with a smile.
“Hmm, I’m slightly interested,” Violet said.
The soldiers who were originally standing on the sidelines dispersed when they saw Violet: "Come on, make room for Major Eve Garden."
Now Violet and Isaac are sitting face to face on the ground.
“I remember you’re not an adult yet, drinking at this age isn’t a good habit,” Isaac laughed.
When he said this, he automatically ignored the fact that he had started drinking at the age of seven.
“No need,” Violet smiled. “If I win, how about the lieutenant general takes me on a date?”
Upon hearing this, the surrounding soldiers immediately began to jeer. The relationship between Violet and Isaac was an open secret among these soldiers, and of course, some expressed envy and jealousy towards Isaac.
"Alright, but I won't lose so easily." Isaac picked up his deck with a strong fighting spirit.
Soldiers: "Lieutenant General, are you mentally challenged?"
What did you say?
"No, no!" Everyone quickly shook their heads.
Game start.
One hour later.
"Lieutenant General, you've already lost fifteen games," a soldier whispered to Isaac.
“Of course I know.” Isaac looked at the cards in his hand with some suspicion. “That shouldn’t be the case. I’m an old hand.”
“Lieutenant General Isaac,” Violet said, looking at Isaac. “Remember to go on a date with me when you get back, fifteen times in total.”
