Isaac ignored him and found Yao Lin: "Brother, I'll take the Philosopher's Stone back with me first. If you want to be emperor, come find me in Amestris."
"Big brother, don't you want to be the crown prince?" Yao Lin asked curiously.
What if I don't want to be chosen but have already been appointed?
Although he would like to be both emperor and president if circumstances allowed, the current issue is that there is a priority, and Isaac would choose to become president first.
As for what happens next, we'll talk about that later.
"In short, I've already told you what to do. I reckon there will be many more people competing with you." He patted Yao Lin on the shoulder after saying that.
After saying goodbye to everyone, Isaac and Violet embarked on their journey to Amestris.
"It seems I have no choice but to go to my older brother's place," Yao Lin murmured.
“Yes, young master, we must go!” Lan Fang suddenly appeared and said to Yao Lin.
Yao Lin was taken aback for a moment, then laughed and said, "Yes, I'm determined to be the emperor."
Since his elder brother was unwilling to become emperor, he himself had to go.
Chapter 119: Promotion to Brigadier General
Amestris, Central City.
The train stopped at the platform, and a young man with black hair and a young woman with blonde hair stepped out.
"Ah, it's been almost a year since I've been back. I'm finally standing on this land again." Isaac stretched after getting out of the car.
"Is this... Mr. Isaac's hometown?" Violet looked around at the bustling platform and had to admit that the technology here was more advanced than that of the Tersis continent.
“Yes, this is Amestris, and it’s where we’ll be living from now on,” Isaac said with a smile.
Just as the two were chatting, several soldiers in blue uniforms walked over.
The leading soldier walked up to Isaac and shouted:
"Welcome back, Colonel Isaac!"
After he finished speaking, the soldiers around him made way for him, and this display of power drew the attention of passersby.
“Oh, I’m back,” Isaac chuckled. “Take me to the boss.”
"Yes!"
After receiving the order, the soldier led Isaac and Violet into the military vehicle.
Within Central Command.
President Kim Bradley, wearing an eye patch, was reviewing documents when there was a sudden knock on the door.
"Please come in."
"Your Excellency President, Colonel Isaac has returned," the soldier said after saluting as he entered.
"Is he back?" The president narrowed his eyes slightly and said to the soldier, "Let him in."
"Yes."
After the soldiers left, the president put down the documents in his hand and began to ponder.
A few months ago, he received a letter from Isaac. The polite language in the letter didn't seem to come from that rascal at all, but the signature was indeed his.
I sent him out for a reason: I didn't want him to discover or interfere with the central government's plans.
Sending him to assist Leiden Scheffterich and to protect Dietfried Bougainville, who was in the navy, was a way to confine his actions to the battlefield at sea. This way, he would stay on that continent for a long time, and once he had been there, he would be unable to interfere with the plans there.
However, who knew that old Bugambiria would die so quickly, Isaac then intervened in the land war, and as expected, the war he intervened in ended in just six months.
The saying goes, "Where there's smoke, there's fire," and the President's first reaction upon seeing his letter was:
Has this kid discovered something?
"If we find out anything, then even if he is a 'human sacrifice,' we can only apologize. After all, this kid is too dangerous."
Hearing the approaching footsteps outside, the president instinctively gripped the knife at his waist.
The door was opened directly.
"Hey! Boss, I'm back. Did you miss me?" Isaac greeted him with a smile.
"Oh, Colonel Isaac is back. I heard about your performance over there; it was excellent. You truly are a soldier of Amestoris." The President chuckled, but his hand remained on the hilt of his sword.
Isaac casually found a spot and plopped down: "Just thinking about it makes me angry. Those bastards dared to ambush me, and they even blew my legs off."
As he spoke, he lifted up his trouser leg, revealing the metal caliper underneath.
"Ah...that must be hard work for you, Colonel." The President continued, "So, what brings you here?"
At this point, the president tightened his grip on the hilt of his sword.
“Of course.” Isaac’s eyes sharpened as well.
The atmosphere in the office suddenly turned dangerous.
Isaac spoke first: "Boss, didn't you say you were going to promote me and transfer me to the central government?"
"Ah? Oh, that matter, I did mention it." The president seemed to remember something and quickly said.
I did mention this in my reply.
“Seriously, boss, you have a really good temper. I scolded you like that and you still promoted me.” Isaac said, bringing his face close to the president. “You’re not thinking of making things difficult for me after you transfer me to Central City, are you?”
"Of course not... Wait? Colonel, what did you just say? Did you insult me?" the President asked hurriedly.
“Yes, the letter I sent you was written for me by the Auto Memory Doll over there. That doll is amazing; she can write down all the swear words I want to use,” Isaac exclaimed.
"So...did they write anything more polite?"
“Boss, now that you mention it, it’s true. They wrote a letter to me before, and it even said ‘Your Excellency the President,’ which is definitely not my style.”
The president breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.
It seems the case has been solved.
"So, boss, what about my plans for promotion?"
"Of course, this mission was so difficult, it must have been very hard work for you, Colonel." He then took out a document and a medal from the drawer.
"Please continue to serve the country in the future, Colonel Isaac, no, I should say Brigadier General Isaac."
Isaac was officially appointed Brigadier General Amestoris.
He is also the youngest brigadier general in the country.
"Thank you, boss." Isaac saluted and accepted the documents and medals.
"As for your future work location, after much consideration, we have decided to assign you to the Eastern Command," the President said. "Your subordinates are also there."
Speaking of his subordinates makes me angry. One of them is always showing off his wife, and the other is always thinking about usurping the throne.
"Eastern Command is fine, I don't really care," Isaac said nonchalantly. "Are you sure I don't need to go anywhere else?"
The Eastern Command is arguably the safest place in Zhengamestorlis outside of the central region. The other military districts are engaged in large-scale military conflicts with the surrounding cities, and soldiers are killed every day.
Therefore, the Eastern Command is the place that all graduates of the Sergeant Academy aspire to.
"That's fine. If Brigadier General Isaac wants to go and support other places, he can go directly. You're a brigadier general now, so you can decide for yourself," the president said with a smile.
"Alright, I'll go to the Eastern Command and arrange things with my few beasts of a subordinate. These bastards are probably going to turn on me now." Isaac said goodbye to the president and left the office.
After Isaac left, the president's eyes turned cold.
"Now is not the time for you to come to the Central Command, Brigadier General Isaac."

As he left the headquarters, Isaac found the soldier who had brought him there earlier.
"Arrange a train for me to Dongfang City."
"Yes, Colonel!"
“Not a colonel anymore,” Isaac said with a smug smile. “Now he’s a brigadier general.”
Upon hearing this, the soldier looked at Isaac in surprise: "What? You're already a brigadier general?"
"Yes."
"Congratulations, Brigadier General!" The soldier immediately looked at Isaac with admiration.
There has never been such a young brigadier general in the history of Amestris.
After the soldiers left, Isaac lowered his head and fell into deep thought.
"The aura emanating from the boss... doesn't seem human."
Chapter 120: Visiting the Prison
Isaac looked at the Central Command headquarters, deep in thought.
Since learning about 'qi', he has been able to sense the aura emanating from people. The aura emitted by different people is completely different, but the essence remains the same.
Although the aura emanating from his boss was usually imperceptible, Isaac could sense an ominous presence lurking within him, one that was definitely not that of a human.
"Your Excellency, the ticket you requested has been booked for you. It's for the 4 PM train."
Just as Isaac was pondering this, the soldier who had run out to buy tickets returned, holding two train tickets in his hand.
"Never mind, there will always be a few exceptionally talented people in the world."
Isaac stopped thinking about the president and took the ballot from the soldier.
The train leaves at 4 PM, so there's still some time.
"Hey you, could you take me to the Central City Prison?"
"No problem, but what do you want to do in prison?" the soldier asked, puzzled.
"I'm going to visit an old friend."
Central City Prison.
Inside a solitary cell, a person dressed in a white prison uniform and shackled was lying bored on the bed. There were two strands of hair hanging down on his head like cockroaches, and a transmutation circle was drawn on each of his palms.
Boom boom boom!
The prison guards were banging on his door with their batons.
