Chapter 13, First Battle

It was dinnertime.

When the brass-colored pot appeared on the table, everyone except the freshmen cheered!

Even those pure-blood Slytherin who always disliked Poppy had to admit that hot pot was a delicacy they couldn't resist.

Harry looked around but didn't see his cousin. He quickly turned to the Weasley twins and asked, "Why did you bring the pot out here all of a sudden? And what are you all cheering for? Have you seen my cousin?"

George clapped his hands and laughed happily, "This is called hot pot, it's a kind of Chinese food! This stuff is awesome!"

Fred: "Although we didn't see your cousin, she's always in the kitchen eating with the house-elves whenever we have hot pot! This time will probably be no exception."

As Fred said, Bobby was in the kitchen, feasting with the elves.

What could be better than eating hot pot to strengthen the bond between oneself and one's people?

Just as the elves were enjoying their meal with their beloved queen, the kitchen door opened, and Dumbledore appeared, leading the four heads of the house.

"Ah! I knew it, little Bobby was eating alone here."

Bobby, her cheeks puffed out, struggled to swallow her food. She protested, "I didn't eat alone. Wasn't it hot pot in the auditorium?"

The godparents smiled without saying a word; their own children also had their pride, so it was best not to expose them.

But Dumbledore pointed to the food piled on the table: "This is bamboo fungus, isn't it? The old man loves to eat this."

Oh, these are the eggs of an eight-eyed giant spider. So this thing can be used in hot pot?

This is...this is?

Receiving a questioning look from Dumbledore, Bobby looked at the long, translucent, white strip of meat and sighed, "This is the leg of an eight-eyed giant spider, even more delicious than crab meat."

She instructed the little elves to arrange seats for the five of them, explaining, "The bamboo forest is only so big, and the bamboo fungus has only grown to this size; there's not even enough for me to eat."

The matter of the eight-eyed giant spider needs to be kept a secret, otherwise Hagrid and I won't be able to be friends anymore..."

“Yes, yes, Bobby is right.”

Snape smiled and held out his hand, with a "take it" expression. To be honest, Snape's smile looked much more natural over the past five years.

Bobby tilted his head: "Huh? What do you want, Daddy Snape?"

"The venom of the eight-eyed giant spider."

"Oh, that? I only killed two giant eight-eyed spiders this time. There wasn't enough venom, and you can't eat them anyway, so I didn't take any."

This spendthrift daughter, but how could Snape bear to scold her?

After a hearty meal, Bobby sneaked into the prefectural washroom. He'd worked up a sweat and needed a good shower.

Bobby jumped into the warm water pool with a splash.

The water in this pool automatically changes temperature. Even if two people enter at the same time, the water temperature around each person will be adjusted according to their individual circumstances to ensure that everyone is in their most comfortable temperature.

Eating delicious food and soaking in hot springs are what Bobby wanted to do most in her past life.

If this kind of life could continue, that would be wonderful.

Suddenly, her heart skipped a beat, and a subtle tremor ran through the magic within her body.

This is her communication magic!

Unicorns!

After quickly getting dressed, Bobby Apparated directly to the scene.

Yes, Poppy's Apparition ability, like that of house-elves, can be freely used within Hogwarts.

In an instant, she appeared beside Heidi.

Kuis held his daughter Kinna tightly behind him. On the right side of his body, there was a long wound from which silvery-white blood was flowing continuously.

Upon seeing Bobby, Heidi let out two urgent neighs.

"Heidi, don't be afraid, I'm here. Is it that guy?"

Directly in front of them stood a wizard shrouded in black robes, wand in hand, glaring menacingly at them.

But this black robe disguise meant nothing to Poppy.

Even if she wasn't a die-hard Harry Potter fan and didn't know the plot, she could tell at a glance from the magical characteristics that this person was Quirinus Quirrell, the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor who was possessed by Voldemort.

Although "Harry Potter, Voldemort's weapon" was not by her side, Bobby was not worried at all.

"Healed completely!"

This healing effect has been modified; it will first remove the negative effects on the wound before healing it.

Poppy plans to announce this change later; otherwise, it would be terrifying if a junior wizard suddenly threw out a dozen or twenty modified spells.

Even now, releasing a new or improved spell every six months is already quite astonishing. If she weren't so young, she would be qualified for the Order of Merlin's Second Class Order!

The man in black (let's give Quirrell and Voldemort some face and pretend we didn't recognize him) frowned as he watched Poppy's spell quickly heal the unicorn.

"Avada Kedavra!"

Starting with a big gourd is a good habit of dark wizards.

But the green light had no effect on Bobby.

An earthen shield appeared out of nowhere in front of Poppy. The Killing Curse sent mud flying everywhere, but it ultimately failed to break through.

"Torn apart!"

The earthen shield turned to dust, but Poppy was no longer there.

The man in black hurriedly looked around, but was struck by a falling object that made him faint and collapse to the ground.

"What an idiot, he can't even beat a first-year student."

A hoarse voice rang out, and the man in black who had fallen to the ground got up in an extremely bizarre manner, like a puppet on strings.

Bobby understood that Voldemort had taken over Quirrell's body, and the real battle had officially begun.

Although Voldemort possessed extraordinary magical abilities, Quirrell's physical condition and magical powers limited him.

Therefore, the advantage lies with me!

Of course, Bobby wouldn't dare say that; his jinx is known for its accuracy.

Thus began Poppy's first battle with the Dark Lord.

As soon as they started fighting, Bobby felt immense pressure.

Voldemort's magic was fast, accurate, and powerful; most importantly, the oppressive feeling he brought almost suffocated the little girl.

This is different from when Snape and Flitwick sparred; they were fighting me with murderous intent!

With each beam of green light that shines down, if you don't handle it properly, there's only one outcome.

Poppy possessed immense magical power and lightning-fast reflexes, while the man in black was experienced and highly skilled. The two fought for a long time, seemingly evenly matched.

Poppy, lacking combat experience, was constantly at a disadvantage. The reason she was able to hold on for so long was because she could see the flow of her opponent's magic.

When Poppy Apparated behind the man in black once again, a green light brushed past her scalp, startling her so much that her back was immediately soaked with cold sweat.

Her movements had been exposed! If the curse had been any weaker, she probably would have been finished.

The man in black's unpleasant voice rang out again: "Little girl, you're quite remarkable, the most talented young wizard I've ever seen. I'm sparing your life because I admire your talent. Come with me, and I can teach you how to transcend death!"

Bobby lowered his right hand and shook it, taking the opportunity to relax his wrist. Then he curled his lip and said, "Such big talk, transcending death? If you could really transcend death, you wouldn't have attacked unicorns and wanted to drink their blood."

How did you know?!

Bobby secretly crushed a small button tied to his belt; this was Hogwarts' greatest secret technique, "The Headmaster's Summoning Technique!"

To buy time, Bobby continued chatting with the man in black: "What's so hard to guess? The spell you cast on Quess was meant to hurt him. Given your style of using killing spells, if you only hurt him and don't kill him, then you must have something else in mind."

As far as unicorns are concerned, the only significant difference between living and dead is their flesh and blood. I doubt anyone would be so heartless as to eat unicorn meat, so what you really want is their blood.

Although drinking unicorn blood will incur a curse regardless of whether the unicorn is alive or dead, blood taken while the unicorn is alive is always better than blood taken after the unicorn has died.

Although the man in black couldn't see his face, a hint of amazement flashed in his eyes beneath the mask.

“What remarkable wisdom, my child. You should think carefully and follow me, so as not to waste your talent.”

“No, my teachers, godfather, godmother, and friends are here. I will not leave with you.”

She spoke tough, but inside she was incredibly nervous. It wasn't that she didn't want to use her "prophetic" abilities to deal with the men in black. It was just that the prophecy was fraught with uncertainty; Bobby still hadn't figured out the prophecy's judgment of good or bad.

"In that case, there's no need to keep you here."

At this point, the semester had only just begun, and Quirrell's physical condition was not yet so bad that he needed unicorn blood to prolong his life. Naturally, his body was full of magic, and his hunting of unicorns tonight was merely a precaution.

So, using Quirrell's healthy body, Poppy had absolutely no confidence when Voldemort got serious.

Old Deng, why aren't you here yet? Your cutest and most obedient student needs to be mailed!

The man in black raised his wand, magic surging within him, the flow of which was like eating a melon!

Suddenly, fluent Chinese came out of Bobby's mouth: "Do you still remember Lin Daiyu by the Slender West Lake in Yangzhou?"

Poppy was just taking a gamble. She was already planning to Apparate and run away. The unicorn was pitiful, but her own life was more important.

To everyone's surprise, the man in black suddenly froze, "Daiyu?"

Bobby was overjoyed because the two words were spoken in Chinese, with clear and accurate pronunciation, something that foreigners could never say.

"So, you're the older brother from the Li family?"

Bobby's words shocked the man in black, who took two steps back, momentarily at a loss for what to do.

Just then, a flash of light appeared between the two, and Dumbledore made a dazzling entrance with Fawkes!

"Dumbledore!" The man in black unleashed a large ball of Fiery Blaze as soon as he saw the headmaster arrive.

"All curses end!"

A golden light flashed, and before the fierce flames could spread, they were vanished without a trace.

Looking again, there was no trace of the man in black.

"Teacher, you've finally arrived! If you'd been any later, you could have been collecting my corpse!"
