Fortunately, Bobby seemed fine, but Dumbledore still asked her, "Bobby, how are you? Are you feeling unwell?"
Bobby shook her head. She didn't know what her teacher was nervous about. She said calmly, "I'm not feeling unwell, teacher. On the contrary, I feel like I've never felt so good!"
Dumbledore felt his magic power increasing, but in addition to magic, Poppy also felt her body rapidly becoming stronger!
As for Harry Potter, he also benefited to some extent, but his magical base was far too small compared to the other two, and his growth was very limited.
Behind the three of them, the door slowly closed by itself again.
The group continued upwards, gradually entering the mountainside of Mount Olympus.
Here, there are only ruins, broken and rotten weapons, and dried and brittle bones.
“A terrible battle took place here,” Dumbledore said. “That may be why the Greek gods suddenly disappeared from history…”
Harry asked, "Professor Dumbledore, shouldn't gods be immortal?"
Dumbledore was very satisfied with Harry's questions, but he felt no pleasure in being a teacher with Bobby.
“Harry, there are no gods in this world. Even the Grim Reaper we often talk about is just a more powerful wizard.”
"So the Greek gods were also human; they aged, got sick, and died. But in any case, it must be unnatural for such a highly advanced magical civilization to disappear overnight. They vanished too suddenly, without even leaving any records, which is why it remains a mystery in the magical world."
The three walked through the ruins, stepping on the bones, climbing all the way up.
Strangely, two thousand years later, the surviving magical streetlights in these ruins still emit a soft glow. It's unknown where the magic power that keeps them running comes from.
In Bobby's eyes, each of those streetlights had a clear magical path leading to the center of the sacred mountain, where perhaps some incredible source of magic resided.
"Teacher, do you think that might be a deity with a name and a surname?"
Bobby suddenly pointed to a skeleton.
The skeleton was dressed in gleaming gold armor, a trident lay in the dirt, and its head was thrown aside.
Poppy was able to confirm that the head and skeleton came from the same person only because of the helmet that matched the armor.
Even after a thousand years, the armor and trident still shine brightly, clearly indicating that they are extraordinary artifacts.
Dumbledore pondered for a moment and said, "Judging from the design of this trident and armor, I think this person is very likely Poseidon, one of the three main gods."
Poppy was already dazzled by the golden light of the armor. She giggled and put the trident and armor into the storage bag on her chest.
"Whether he is Poseidon or not, this is a good thing, so I'll gladly accept it!"
Bobby took the trident and armor, and neither Dumbledore nor Harry objected. Modern wizards are physically weak and rely on magic in combat; who still wields melee weapons?
If they were given this equipment, it would be of no use except for selling it or using it as decoration at home! And both of them are people who are not short of money.
They continued upwards until they arrived at the Pantheon, the palace of the gods, at nightfall. Although isolated from the outside world, the weather here changed in sync with that of the outside world.
Bobby had a great haul along the way, his face beaming with the silly grin of a little miser who had just gotten his hands on a treasure.
The Pantheon is half-collapsed, but its massive columns still convey a sense of its former glory. Looking down from the highest peak, Miticas, one sees surrounding mountains; on the lower peaks, well-preserved buildings remain—perhaps the dwellings of divine servants or soldiers?
However, the place was still littered with corpses, and not a single living person could be seen, until... a pale blue, semi-transparent figure appeared before them.
"A ghost?" Bobby circled the figure twice. She had never seen a ghost that showed no fear of her before.
“I am not a ghost, but a descendant of the ancient guardians,” the translucent figure said. “I am not dead, but a pitiful person cursed by Zeus, destined to wander in the Pantheon for eternity.”
Chapter 45 The Old Riddler and the Descendants of the Dragon (Fake)
The translucent man before her had a hooked nose very similar to Snape's godfather. Because he was now entirely sky blue, his hair and eyes also appeared blue, making it impossible for Bobby to determine their original color.
Dumbledore adjusted his glasses and said, "Hello, my name is Albus Dumbledore. Are you perhaps Morpheus?"
Hearing that Dumbledore was speaking Ancient Greek, the man smiled and nodded: "There is an eternal language translation magic here; language is not a barrier to our communication. Yes, you are right, I am Maphthos."
This time, not only Harry was surprised, but even Bobby was astonished. The old man's knowledge was so extensive that he could recognize people who were unknown two thousand years ago.
Dumbledore explained, “Morphus was a great prophet, and his portrait still hangs in the dungeons of our Hogwarts Castle.”
Mopsos laughed: "Brilliant, absolutely brilliant! Aren't I a prisoner now? Hanging in the dungeon? Hahaha, brilliant!"
After Mopsos finished laughing, Bobby couldn't wait to ask, "Does the old man know my ancestors?"
Mopsos's wise gaze fixed on Bobby. "I don't know them. They had already left Greece when I was born, but I know them."
Bobby asked expectantly, "Then can you tell me who they are?"
Mopsos shook his head: "I cannot. If you were not their descendant, but a descendant of other gods, I could offer you any help. But unfortunately, they are traitors, and I cannot offer you any linguistic assistance."
After saying that, he turned and left.
Dumbledore, being a shrewd old man, understood Morpheus's implied meaning and immediately pulled the two children along to follow.
Mopsos passed through the ruined palace and came to the entrance of a cellar.
He pointed to the trapdoor, "Fortunately, Kratos, that brute, only knows how to kill. He doesn't know that the soul of the entire Olympus resides here. If this place is destroyed, Olympus will be completely destroyed."
Dumbledore exclaimed, "Kratos?"
He looked at Bobby, who shrank back. Dumbledore clearly remembered that Bobby had mentioned this name before they went up the mountain.
Mopsos nodded: "Yes, Kratos, a Spartan, a demigod. A freak who inherited his father's unparalleled magic but preferred to use brute force."
Mopsos left without saying another word.
Everyone realized that the truth might lie in the cellar right in front of them.
The tip of the Elder Wand emitted a warm, bright light as the old man led two children down the winding stairs.
Going up the mountain is easy, but coming down is hard; the path seemed endless. Bobby felt as if they were about to reach the foot of the mountain through this secret passage.
In her eyes, they were actually approaching a huge source of magic—the place where the magical streetlights she had seen earlier were connected.
It was already past midnight, and the three of them were exhausted and sleepy, but the secret passage was too narrow for anyone to lie down and rest.
Bobby suddenly spoke up: "Teacher, we're almost there."
Even without Bobby saying anything, Dumbledore could feel it too; the rich magical aura was exactly the same as what they had felt when they first entered the mountain gate.
Pushing open a gleaming golden door—the Olympian gods truly loved gold—they entered a grand hall.
How big is this hall? It's about the size of thirty Quidditch pitches.
Because it can't be too small! In the very center of the hall, there was a huge transparent coffin, inside which lay a giant, more than ten times larger than the giants of today.
“This is the legendary Titan,” Dumbledore said. “His physical body is still alive! It’s still providing a continuous supply of magic to this Mount Olympus!”
Bobby sighed, "It's just an empty shell now; the soul is long gone."
Harry suddenly interjected, "Could he be Atlas?"
Harry is actually very intelligent. Before going up the mountain, he heard Dumbledore talk about Atlas Tower, and now he can immediately make reasonable deductions. This is one of the important reasons why he will be able to do the work of an Auror in the future.
Bobby immediately agreed: "Harry is right. This Titan in front of us does indeed bear the weight of the entire Olympus. It's no exaggeration to say that he holds up the blue sky of Olympus."
Dumbledore laughed and said, “Your reasoning is brilliant, but we don’t need to guess.” He pointed to a passage of text carved on the coffin and read it aloud: “By the decree of Zeus, the King of the Gods, the Titan Atlas is punished for his sins and is to bear the blue sky of Olympus for an indefinite term.”
The Greeks really loved using metaphors; they even used them to sentence people—it's truly unbelievable. I wonder if Mr. Zhang San could handle it if he went to ancient Greece?
Besides the coffin, the hall also contains countless bookshelves filled with a dazzling array of books.
There are life-related items, ranging from the design of large-scale urban sewage systems to tips for taking a bath in public bathhouses.
There are cultural items, such as famous Greek poems, and moving legendary novels.
There are historical ones, ranging from the origins of the gods to their romantic affairs.
There are also magical techniques, such as the powerful ancient magic of the Olympian pantheon, as well as various spell arrays and runic arts. Among these are techniques for maintaining the vitality of a corpse's body and continuously generating magical power.
Dumbledore sighed, “Mopsos is right, this is indeed the soul of Olympus. It’s another double entendre. If Atlas is destroyed, then Mount Olympus will lose its magical supply and collapse; but with the knowledge of this place, then a new Olympian pantheon can be rebuilt at any time.”
“Life and death, the ancient Greeks really knew how to play.” Bobby walked to a bookshelf, took down a book, flipped through a couple of pages, and put it back. “Unfortunately, only you, teacher, can understand the words on it.”
Dumbledore walked up to a bookshelf and reached for a copy of "An Introduction to the Soul," but found he couldn't get close to it.
“Bobby, it seems we’ll have to work together,” Dumbledore chuckled. “It seems that only those of Olympian descent can retrieve the books here, just like that gate down the mountain.”
In the days that followed, the three of them stayed with Atlas's remains, eating, sleeping, and living there. Fortunately, Poppy had two half-venomous dragons with her, and she also had plenty of other types of food in her reserves, so she wasn't worried about going hungry.
Dumbledore first found two spellbooks and translated several powerful spells that could be used in the present day. After teaching them to the two boys, he began searching for clues about the Bobby bloodline in history books.
Bobby's genius was beyond imagination. She learned all the spells that Dumbledore had translated in just one day. Then she followed her teacher to read ancient books. A week later, Dumbledore was surprised to find that Bobby could read independently!
That day, Harry ran excitedly to Bobby and exclaimed, "Cousin Bobby! Look! I learned it!"
Harry's hands crackled with silver lightning, creating a spectacular display.
Poppy nodded: "This is Zeus's most proficient thunderbolt, and its power is among the top of these spells."
Seeing Bobby's completely unsurprised expression, Harry asked suspiciously, "Cousin, you haven't practiced spells much these past few weeks. Don't you want to learn?"
Bobby sighed and extended his right hand.
Silver lightning, golden flames, azure ice crystals, hard rocks, sharp gales, ominous black mist, magnificent roses, and holy light—various extraordinary phenomena appeared one after another in her palm. These included not only Dumbledore's translations but also what she had learned from books.
"I already know it a long time ago, Harry. This is a rare opportunity. Here you have Atlas's magic to support you. Once you leave, it probably won't be so easy to learn it again, so why don't you hurry up and practice?"
Bobby waved his hand dismissively, like shooing away a fly, "Go on, go on, don't bother me while I'm looking for information!"
Harry walked away dejectedly. He felt he was already very capable, and indeed he was. Among mortals, Harry was definitely a top-tier talent. But to compare himself to his monstrous cousin would be to humiliate himself.
Another week later, Dumbledore and Bobby sat down again to share their findings.
“Teacher, I’ve discovered something very strange,” Bobby said confidently. “When Zeus and Hera got married, the goddess Gaia gave him a golden apple tree, and then Zeus planted the tree in Hera’s garden. That’s right, isn’t it?”
"Yes."
"Later, when Heracles stole the golden apple, I didn't think there was anything wrong with it. But the last recorded appearance of the golden apple was when Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite, in their struggle for it, instigated the Trojan War!"
"That doesn't make sense. The golden apple is planted in Hera's garden, isn't it? Why would she fight with two other goddesses for one golden apple?"
Dumbledore hadn't read this part of history, but he had heard the legend. He interpreted it as: "The goddess Eris wrote 'For the fairest of them all' on that golden apple. The three goddesses weren't vying for the golden apple, but for the title of fairest, weren't they?"
Bobby shook his head. "No, teacher, this passage isn't in the records of the library here. Besides, mortal legends are unreliable to begin with. If Eris was going to play a trick, why would she let others know? Especially not mortals!"
"So what do you mean?"
"I guess by this time, Olympus had already lost the Golden Apple Garden."
Dumbledore thought for a moment, "Mopsos first said you were a descendant of the Guardians, then said your ancestors were traitors, so..."
