Once Stoller's figure had completely disappeared from their sight, Annie immediately jumped up, ready to go outside and run around the house a few times; she had been feeling really stifled.

Li Cheng suddenly realized something and felt that something was very wrong.

However, it was too late. Newton had already noticed them, and as soon as Stoller left, she ran down from upstairs.

"You're back?"

Newton pretended to have just come down from the building. As she spoke, she walked around Li Cheng, looking down and searching as if she were looking for something.

Li Cheng remained motionless in his seat, cold sweat pouring down his back: "Yeah, you're back..."

Newton didn't find anything she was looking for nearby, so she frowned and said in a nonchalant tone, "By the way, where's my gift?"

Li Cheng: "......"

Gifts, gifts...

Li Cheng hesitated for a moment: "Suppose, just suppose... suppose I were to give myself to you as a gift, would that be alright?"

Judging from Miss Newton's gloomy expression, it was clearly not going to work.

Chapter Twenty-Seven: Baker Street

For the next few days, Li Cheng was extremely busy, sometimes leaving early in the morning and not returning home until dark.

Personally overseeing factory renovations, training newly recruited employees, and classifying raw materials... even without malicious interference and with ample funds and manpower, all of this still requires a tremendous amount of effort to manage.

Li Cheng is very busy.jpg

Fortunately, all aspects of the work are proceeding in an orderly manner.

......

A few days later at noon.

Stoller's House.

Li Cheng sat at the dining table, feeling that something was missing today.

He casually glanced around, trying to find something he had forgotten. When he saw Anne, who was shoveling soup into her mouth from her plate because Stoller wasn't there, he suddenly realized that he was missing a little rascal with a fork.

He'd been leaving early and returning late these past few days and hadn't paid attention to Newton's whereabouts... He asked, "Where's Newton?"

"Newton? She cleaned her house a couple of days ago and went back home."

Annie put down the plate and said curiously, "Because you were at the factory when I left, I was the one who told you, and you even said 'uh-huh'."

?

I even hummed in response?

Li Cheng had no recollection of this matter, so he quickly asked, "When did this happen?"

Anne thought for a moment and said, "About three days ago."

Three days ago? No way!

Li Cheng gasped, feeling a dull ache in his arm, as if countless tiny bite marks had appeared there.

Li Cheng immediately placed the tableware on the table and stood up.

Annie looked at him strangely: "What are you doing? Aren't you going to eat?"

"I can't eat anymore, I have something urgent to do right now."

As Li Cheng spoke, he went back to his room to change into a dark gray casual outfit, stuffed his few pieces of luggage into a suitcase, said goodbye to Annie, and hurriedly headed to Newton's house.

......

Newton lived at 221 Baker Street.

Although there are no murders here, and no man wearing a deerstalker hat and smoking a pipe lives here, it is still a very special street, a street that looks quiet and charming.

Many lilac trees are planted on both sides of the street, with deep purple buds hanging from their branches.

This flower is also very special. After the flower buds bloom, they will gradually turn from light pink to deep purple after being pollinated by birds.

But this flower bud is the opposite; after blooming, it gradually fades from its initial deep purple to pink. This amazed Li Cheng, who marveled at the wonders of nature.

To get back to the point, Li Cheng went through a lot of trouble before finally arriving at Newton's house.

The Newton family home was a small two-story house with a small yard containing withered flowers and a set of tables and chairs grown by Freya. The yard was surrounded by a wall and a gate.

Just as Li Cheng was about to call out to someone through the fence, he saw Freya, whom he hadn't seen in a long time, walk out of the house carrying scissors, seemingly preparing to deal with the withered flowers and plants.

He was immediately overjoyed and shouted, "Freya, open the door for me!"

Freya was still dressed as a maid, the only difference being that she had taken off her apron, probably because the weather had gotten warmer.

Noticing the shouts coming from the gate, she slowly approached the gate.

Under Li Cheng's expectant gaze, she stopped in front of the fence gate but did not make any further moves.

"What's wrong? Open the door for me."

Li Cheng knocked on the door, puzzled.

"terribly sorry."

Freya apologized, but there was no remorse on her face.

Then she bowed to Li Cheng and said something very ominous: "Miss said that if a man named Li Cheng comes, you must not open the door for him."

"..."

Li Cheng paused for two seconds, then said, "You can pretend you forgot to close the door and that I came in by myself."

Freya shook her head: "Miss Newton closed the door herself, and she would come out every now and then to check if it was closed properly."

???

So they're determined not to let me in?

Li Cheng fell into deep thought, and Freya didn't urge him during the process, just quietly watching him.

Just as Li Cheng was racking his brains, he suddenly caught a glimpse of gold on the second-floor windowsill out of the corner of his eye, which then quickly disappeared. Immediately, an idea came to him.

He bent down and placed the suitcase by the door, shrugging: "Since I'm not welcome here, I have to go now. Please keep this suitcase for me; it's inconvenient for me to carry it around."

Freya nodded, indicating that there was no problem.

......

About ten minutes after Li Cheng left, Newton, who had been hiding behind the door, quickly rushed out of the doorway.

Seeing that no one was around and only a lone box remained, her face turned from white to red. She stomped her foot angrily and cursed, "Bastard, if you've got the guts, don't come back! Bastard! Bastard! Bastard!"

Freya pointed to the box outside the door: "Miss, what should we do with the box?"

Newton was still angry and said, "Put it there."

Freya nodded.

Just then, Freya's eyelids twitched, as if she had seen something incredible, and she slightly parted her lips.

"what happened?"

Newton was puzzled. She followed Freya's gaze and found that the point of convergence was the right wall... with half a ladder sticking out from the top.

Newton was so shocked that he opened his mouth in disbelief.

While the two women were still in shock, a red head of hair appeared halfway up the ladder. As the hair gradually moved upwards, a repulsive face was finally revealed on the wall.

"Hi~"

Seeing that they were looking at him, Li Cheng waved and smiled.

However, the smile lasted only a moment. Whether it was because he lost his grip or slipped, Li Cheng's smile suddenly turned into a look of terror, and his figure disappeared from the wall.

"Hey! Wait a minute!"

Newton's face turned deathly pale. She hurriedly opened the door and ran with all her might toward the direction where Li Cheng had fallen.

As she turned the corner, she saw Li Cheng lying half-reclined on the gravel path, clutching his back and groaning.

"Are you OK?"

Newton was sweating profusely with anxiety. She squatted down, trying to check Li Cheng's injuries.

"Fortunately, it was just a partial paralysis..."

Li Cheng spoke slowly, then, as Newton approached, he suddenly leaped up with a somersault, simultaneously extending his two wicked hands...

------

After seeing the golden light on the second floor, Li Cheng had already made up his mind that his fall earlier was fake; in reality, he had jumped down the ladder and lay on the ground pretending to be dead.

When Newton ran over worriedly, he suddenly jumped up, scooped Newton up, and carried him on his shoulder.

So the door opened smoothly, the hostage was brought under control, and Li Cheng walked into the wide-open gate in a cheerful mood, completely ignoring the little guy struggling on his shoulder.

Freya was waiting at the door, and showed no surprise when she saw Li Cheng return.

How could such a large person fall to the ground without making a sound? It's only because Newton was too concerned that he didn't notice this.

Li Cheng smiled and said to her, "Freya, help me return the ladder to the neighbors and tell them that my wife has forgiven me and agreed to open the door for me."

Freya nodded and prepared to do as she was told.

Newton, perched on the shoulder, waved his little arms and legs and shouted, "Liar! Big liar! Who forgave you?! You're not allowed in my house! You're not allowed to order my maid around! Get out!"

Chapter Twenty-Eight: Lies Need to Be Constantly Repaired

Freya obeyed Li Cheng's instructions and went to return the ladder, but Newton continued to struggle relentlessly, shouting and acting as if he was determined to fight the evil forces to the end.

Newton was fully aware of what Li Cheng and Annie had been busy with these past few days.

But she couldn't get involved in anything, and it was a bit awkward for her to be alone at Annie's house. Luckily, she had just finished cleaning up her two-story house, so she went back there, and she and Freya could finally have some peace and quiet.

However, to Newton's surprise, Li Cheng hadn't contacted her at all these past few days! Not even a little bit!

Even if someone is busy, they should at least have time to say hello, right? This guy really seems to have completely forgotten about her, as if he didn't even realize she was gone.

He came over earlier but refused to apologize properly. He borrowed a ladder to try and climb the wall, which was bad enough, but he even pretended to fall down to trick her into opening the door to rescue him!

I promised to bring her a gift when I went out, but I didn't.

The angrier he got, the less Newton struggled, and simply shouted at the top of his lungs:
