As darkness fell, Shanks swaggered into the Uchiha clan's territory. Upon seeing him enter, the Root members immediately returned to report to Danzo.

When Danzo of Root heard that his subordinate Shanks had joined the Uchiha clan, he knew it must have been his good friend Hiruzen Sarutobi who did it. He wanted Shanks to keep the old Uchiha in check, which was also a warning to him that he had gone too far recently.
