The titles that Tang Sanzang and his disciples received after their journey to the West can be divided into two categories: "Great Official Qualification" and "Your Official Qualification".

In this context, "汝" in "汝职正果" is the second-person pronoun "you," meaning "you are in a position of authority."

Tang Sanzang, Wukong, and Wujing attained high office and enlightenment.

Pigsy and the White Dragon are the ones who attain enlightenment.

Why?

The highest attainment of enlightenment is the state of being realized through spiritual practice, understanding one's true nature, and attaining Bodhi, namely the three states of Buddha, Bodhisattva, and Arhat.

The Buddha's elevation is not to the "Buddha position," but rather to prefixes such as sandalwood merit, victory in battle, and golden body.

What about Zhi Zhengguo?

It can only be considered as a case of someone whose spiritual practice is not yet up to par, but who walks the righteous path and has made meritorious contributions, thus receiving rewards or honors.

The journey to the West is also a process of spiritual cultivation and self-improvement. The growth of the first three aspects is very obvious along the way, and their character has also grown. Tang Sanzang transformed from a pedantic old monk who was firm in his determination to obtain the scriptures but had many flaws into a high monk with a clear mind.

Sun Wukong goes without saying; he is undoubtedly the main male protagonist. He gradually transformed from an impatient and arrogant monkey into a wise, calm, and humble traveler. Only after taking the journey to the West and becoming the Victorious Fighting Buddha, with a mind as perfect as the bright moon, did he truly deserve the title of "Great Sage Equal to Heaven".

Although Wujing was also diligent and conscientious, all he sought was to save himself, so he could not become a Buddha and could only be an Arhat who saved himself.

Why is Pigsy a Clean Altar Messenger?

Although he traveled westward all the way, he still couldn't shake his greed for money, lust, and food, so he could only attain a minor official position.

Because his spiritual practice was incomplete, he naturally could not become a Buddha.

As for the White Dragon—

He was just a porter, usually on par with the luggage. On the journey to the West, apart from helping the Yellow Robe Monster, he really considered himself a porter. In terms of being a scoundrel, he was even worse than Sha Wujing.

The last part of Journey to the West refers to Pigsy, Sandy, and the White Dragon as "Bodhisattvas," which is simply for the sake of parallelism and neatness in the description.

Otherwise, what are those things like "Namo Three Thousand Great Bodhisattvas" and "Namo Bhikshu Yiseni Bodhisattva"?

A gatekeeper is a gatekeeper. Even if you put together 30,000, 3 million, or 30 million gatekeepers, you still cannot become a Bodhisattva!

Furthermore, in Buddhism, "Bodhisattva" has another meaning besides the attainment of a certain fruition: it refers to a person who is practicing spiritual cultivation. Anyone, regardless of age or gender, can be called a Bodhisattva. Otherwise, why would a monk address an ordinary woman as a "female Bodhisattva"?

# Chapter 644 Taking "Pigsy" with Me

Upon hearing the difference between the Great Certification and the Certification, everyone was momentarily confused.

Unexpectedly, the Buddha's explanation for the promotion of the four disciples and their horse was quite different.

The highest attainment is achieved through spiritual practice.

The title of "Zhizheng Guo" is conferred upon meritorious service.

“I am different from Zhang Zhiwei. He has become like his master Zhang Jingqing, and likes to play the role of a riddle teller.” Jiang Liu continued, “Compared to the two major schools of Taoism and Buddhism, I am closer to the word ‘Confucianism’. My cultivation can be summarized in one sentence: when you encounter trouble, solve trouble, and sometimes even find out the trouble that is hidden in the dark and may erupt in the future.”

This is also Jiang Liu's philosophy of cultivation.

Not afraid of trouble.

Furthermore, if you happen to pass through a place and cause trouble for the local people but not for yourself, you should actively try to resolve it instead of just minding your own business.

Otherwise, what is the difference between a spiritual practitioner and an ordinary person?

He spent most of his life cultivating himself, only to remain a virtuous person?

Then what's the point of fixing it!

"Of course, this is just my opinion, I'm not forcing you to agree."

Jiang Liu stared at Zhang Chulan, “But Zhang Lingyu is, after all, a Taoist priest. His thoughts, actions and conduct cannot be compared with those of family members or independent cultivators. If you really want to consider his well-being, you can’t just think about his life.”

Zhang Chulan remained silent.

Jiang Liu added, "Also, don't believe Zhang Zhiwei's claim that the Celestial Master's Mansion's enduring strength lies in its so-called transmission of lineage. Even extraordinary methods cannot withstand modern firepower.
