Chapter 712 Sherlock: Ancient One, you bastard!!!
If possible, Tony and Captain America really didn't want to include that bastard Sherlock in their carefully crafted 'Degeneration Plan'.
After all, if Sherlock were involved, the biggest flaw in the so-called 'plan' might just be the glaringly obvious name 'Sherlock'.
But what can you do when the Avengers are short of personnel? Some are studying abroad, some are in class, and one of them seems to be not even on Earth.
After Tony parked the car in front of Sherlock's house, both Tony, who was in the driver's seat, and Captain America, who was in the passenger seat, took several deep breaths before they could barely muster their composure.
After exchanging a glance, they both saw a sense of defiance in each other's eyes. To be honest, if they had a choice, they would rather fight another battle in New York!
Unfortunately, they had no choice!
The two men got out of the car with their back teeth clenched and their faces contorted in rage, as if they were about to face some unspeakable terror. They walked hand in hand toward the gate of Sherlock's house.
The two men's bizarre appearances naturally did not escape Sherlock's notice, but Sherlock did not care. Instead, he brewed a cup of tea that he had borrowed from the Ancient One on the sofa in advance, and watched Tony and Captain America walk in through the front door with a playful expression, arms crossed.
The moment the two walked in, Sherlock, imitating the Ancient One, gestured for them to sit down.
Seeing Sherlock's air of superiority, Tony and Captain America felt a chill run down their spines, becoming even more uncertain.
Sherlock remained silent, holding his teacup and sipping his tea with a smile, much like the Ancient One.
After the two sat down, they didn't know how to bring up the matter with Sherlock. Neither of them spoke, and Sherlock remained silent. The atmosphere began to develop into an awkward and strange one.
In this strange and awkward atmosphere, Tony and Captain America began to feel increasingly uncertain.
I have a feeling that if we told Sherlock about their plans, that bastard would definitely unleash a huge act on the spot, and for Captain America and Tony, Sherlock's "big act" would basically be equivalent to an inhuman, extreme form of social death.
Tony, in particular, knew Sherlock Holmes all too well. Sensing the strange atmosphere between the three of them, Tony trembled slightly as he picked up the teacup on the table, intending to take a sip of tea to calm his nerves and, incidentally, to think about how to shift all the blame onto the Captain should Sherlock go berserk later.
"Why sacrifice a friend to save yourself?" In this situation, what are your teammates waiting for if not to be sacrificed? And Tony is absolutely certain that the opposing captain thinks the same way.
Tony was plotting something until the cup of tea Sherlock made for him entered Tony's mouth.
But when the tea entered Tony's mouth, Tony was stunned. What? This Sherlock, who looked so smug, was actually serving the cheapest stuff from the supermarket near Rabbit's place?
Unsure? I'll try it again.
Well, once Tony confirmed that it was the cheapest tea available everywhere in the rabbit's supermarket, Sherlock's superior demeanor collapsed instantly, and even the eerie sense of oppression emanating from Sherlock vanished without a trace.
The tea in his mouth gave Tony, who knew Sherlock very well, an opening, and he launched the first attack on Sherlock with his "bite back" skill!
"No, Sherlock, we've been so busy lately, and we finally managed to squeeze out some time to see you, and you're treating us to the cheapest stuff from the supermarket over there?"
"My dear son, if you're short of money, you can tell your father. There's no need to live in such poverty while pretending to be respectable."
Sherlock: ? ? ? ? ?
Do you want to hear the nonsense you're spouting? This is top-grade tea that I got from Gu Yi. You're calling this cheap stuff from a street vendor?
"you put……"
Sherlock froze halfway through his sentence, swallowing back the word "fart" that he had been using.
On the one hand, Sherlock really doesn't understand tea; he can't tell the quality of tea leaves, only what kind of tea it is. But Tony is different. He's been raised in luxury since childhood, so the difference between good and bad tea is crystal clear to him; it's almost an instinct.
To put it bluntly, Tony's drink has reached a point where it's not even good enough to make your throat burn!
On the other hand, when Sherlock thought about the Ancient One's hidden, unrestrained self, he couldn't say whether he had been tricked by that scoundrel.
After all, the awful things this scoundrel Boiled Egg did with the Time Stone were definitely no less than those of that unlucky Stephen!
When Sherlock finally realized what was happening, he gritted his teeth so hard they were grinding together, his face as black as the bottom of a pot. He slowly put down his teacup and, exuding murderous intent, forced out a sentence at the Captain, who was sitting on the sofa completely unaware of what had happened, and Tony, who was watching the show with amusement.
"Whatever you want to say, wait for me for half an hour!"
After squeezing those words out between his teeth, Sherlock vanished without a trace in a flash of blue light.
Meanwhile, in the Ancient One's Chamber of Fun in Kamar-Taj, Sherlock reappeared with a flash of blue light and immediately began a thorough search of the chamber, which was in disarray because the Ancient One had faked her death and taken many of her collections.
Then, unsurprisingly, Sherlock found several tea bags from the supermarket in the trash can inside the Ancient One's secret room, and even discovered a receipt for the tea.
Sherlock recognized the credit card number on the receipt; damn, it was Old Wang's credit card!
Without a word, Sherlock rushed out of the secret room and found Old Wang. After a fight, Old Wang tearfully told Sherlock the truth: the Ancient One had asked him to buy tea leaves, but hadn't told him what he was going to do with them.
As Sherlock Holmes put his plans into action, his blood-soaked roars echoed throughout Kamar-Taj.
"Gu Yi, you bastard!!!!!!!!!"
That's right! The Ancient One, that bastard, faked her death and escaped, not only taking a large number of her collections, but even her collection of fine teas, leaving Sherlock without even a single tea leaf!
Sherlock had thought he'd gotten a great deal, even buying an expensive tea set to brew the supposedly superior tea he'd stolen from the Ancient One. The money he spent on the tea set could have been enough to drink the 'super tea' he'd stolen from the Ancient One for a lifetime!
Sherlock mentioned that he felt there was something wrong with the tea he brewed compared to the Ancient One's tea. Sherlock had always thought it was a problem with his technique, but damn it, it was something else entirely!
Chapter 713 Carter's Death
Thanks to Sherlock and Gandalf's 'great achievement' of destroying half of Kamar-Taj and rebuilding it in the blink of an eye, the wizards of Kamar-Taj pretended not to hear Sherlock's roar, even though it could be said to have resounded through the heavens.
After poor Stephen rushed over and found out what had happened, the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj had even less to say.
The good news is that no one intends to pursue Sherlock's disrespect for the Ancient One, the 'deceased' Sorcerer Supreme.
The bad news is that almost everyone in Kamar-Taj knows how badly Sherlock was tricked by the Ancient One, and it has become a legendary tale passed down through generations.
So when Sherlock's voice came out in his living room again half an hour later, his face was as black as the bottom of a pot.
Upon returning, Sherlock immediately poured out the tea on the table, silently took out two cans of cola from his four-dimensional pocket and tossed them to Captain America and Tony. He then turned around and went to deal with the damned tea leaves in the tea canister he had bought at a high price, which he treasured.
Unlike the terrifyingly low atmosphere around Sherlock, the atmosphere around Captain America and Tony, who sat on the sofa the whole time, was quite eerie, especially after Sherlock returned with a dark expression.
Tony, looking completely carefree, casually rested his hands on the back of the sofa, playing with the Coke Sherlock threw at him while staring at the captain across from him with amusement.
On the other hand, the captain's expression was just as bad as Sherlock's, and he stared intently at Tony across from him with a look of gritted teeth.
Unbeknownst to Sherlock, the two, in completely opposite states of mind, were exchanging frantic glances.
Captain: 'You bastard! What did you do? Why is that dog's face so dark after being forced back?'
Tony: 'How should I know? What does it have to do with me?'
Captain: 'Then go and discuss the plan!'
Tony: 'I've used my turn to speak, now it's your turn, my dear Captain.'
The captain (turning to look at Sherlock's retreating figure with a look of sudden realization and utter shock): 'You tricked me?!'
Tony (looking relaxed and nonchalant): 'What else? I don't want that bastard's furious revenge!'
Captain (in a state of existential crisis): 'So you just screwed me over? And what, do you think this is a turn-based game? You think I can't speak again after I've already commented?'
Tony (in a shameless manner): 'Otherwise what? Aren't seniors meant to take care of juniors? Aren't you my dad's friend? How dare you make me, a junior, take the blame for this?'
Captain (shocked by Tony's shamelessness): 'So you fucking know I'm your elder now? I still prefer your rebellious attitude when you called me "Old Popsicle," better revert to your old self!'
Tony (rolling his eyes): 'I'm not stupid. Whatever, it's none of my business!'
Seeing Tony casually opening the soda, his eyes darting around and avoiding eye contact, Captain America almost ground his teeth to powder. Damn it, he shouldn't have had any expectations of Tony.
What kind of good person could be able to hang out with that bastard Sherlock?
Having been betrayed, the captain completely forgot the fact that he seemed to get along well with Sherlock, and furiously condemned Tony for unilaterally cutting off communication with a very filthy look in his eyes.
Sherlock, of course, did not notice the exchange of glances between the two people on the sofa. After disposing of all the tea leaves he had stolen from the Ancient One with a dark expression, Sherlock sat back down in his original seat with a dark face.
"Alright, stop asking me what I was doing. Now tell me why you came to see me."
Just as Tony had said, after Sherlock sat back down, he actually focused his attention on the captain, much like in a turn-based game.
The scene sent chills down the Captain's spine. While cursing Tony's various relatives in his mind, he prepared to tell Sherlock about their plan to fall into depravity with a sorrowful expression.
"Sherlock..."
Ring ring ring...
The captain had barely begun to speak when his old-fashioned personal phone rang incessantly, interrupting him.
After giving Sherlock an apologetic look, the captain took out his phone and glanced at it. In just one glance, the captain's expression turned turbulent, eventually settling into a look of grief.
"I'm sorry, Sherlock, I have some personal matters to attend to first."
The moment he finished speaking, the captain stood up and tried to walk outside, but Sherlock grabbed his arm.
"We'll solve anything together, Captain. You're never alone."
After Sherlock finished speaking, he stared at the captain without saying a word. Even Tony could see the deep sadness between the captain's brows.
Tony didn't choose to point it out. Instead, he changed his nonchalant posture and looked at the captain with a serious expression, waiting for the captain to give an answer.
Seeing the two people's expressions, the captain thought for a moment and then did not hide anything from them. He spoke the urgent message from the ringing bell in a sad and slightly dejected voice.
"Carter has passed away, and I have to attend his funeral."
As the captain spoke, Sherlock finally smiled slightly, glanced at Tony, and then immediately gave Tony the final decision.
"Gather the Avengers, I'll send you to London."
"Okay, I'll send them a message right away. By the way, Old Popsicle, isn't it a bit wrong of you to keep such a big thing from us? After all, you're our senior."
Tony took out his phone to contact his teammates while complaining to the captain. Although his tone was light, his expression was extremely serious and respectful.
As the captain's teammate, Tony also knew about the story between the captain and Carter. Therefore, Tony's complaints to the captain were more likely just his concern for the captain's condition than actual complaints.
Moreover, Carter was a senior figure of the same generation as Tony's father, so Tony couldn't miss his funeral out of courtesy and courtesy.
Surprisingly, the captain didn't refute Tony's complaints. Instead, he glanced at Tony, sat back down on the sofa, and stared blankly at the Coke he had placed on the coffee table.
Although the captain didn't speak, both Sherlock and Tony could sense the surging emotions emanating from him, like a flood, and even a faint sense of detachment.
It was as if the person sitting in front of them was no longer the invincible warrior with the round vibranium shield, but a stray dog that had lost its origins and was wandering aimlessly.
Sherlock and Tony exchanged a glance, then silently patted the captain on the shoulder and went back to work without saying a word.
Let the captain have some peace and quiet.
This was almost a shared thought that the two of them could see in each other's eyes.
Chapter 714 Funeral
Half an hour later, almost the entire Avengers, except for Wanda and Quicksilver who were studying abroad, and Hulk and Thor who were not on Earth, gathered at Sherlock's house.
Sherlock also used the Space Stone to open a portal and went directly to London, where they attended Carter's funeral as arranged by the main family.
