"Pfft!"

When he reappeared, Merlin heard the sound of blades cutting into flesh.

Soldiers in pointed hats are fighting red-eyed villagers who have lost their minds.

The village caught fire.

"The ghost team sealed off the village, we must not let these monsters from the abyss leave!" A petite girl knight was directing her subordinates to block the village.

All the red-eyed villagers who approached the blockade were killed by heavily armed soldiers.

Soon, because of the small size of the village, the red-eyed villagers were quickly killed.

Soldiers in pointed hats searched the ruins.

Merlin appeared.

He took a deep breath, and when he was about to say something, he saw the soldier with the pointed hat holding up his weapon, ready to stab him.

The target was a terrified peasant woman.

"Wait!" he said hastily.

"?"

The soldier with the pointed hat stepped on the peasant woman, a little puzzled.

After seeing Merlin, he was silent for a few seconds, as if he remembered something.

"Your Excellency Merlin?"

he asked.

"That's right, I'm Merlin. What are you doing?" Merlin asked with a serious face.

"Kill those infected by the abyss."

After speaking, the soldier in the pointed hat was about to stab his weapon.

"Stop! What if she isn't infected?"

Merlin took a few deep breaths.

He gripped his staff tightly.

"Send your commander to me."

Merlin said.

"Your Excellency Merlin, I am their commander."

The girl knight whom he had seen before came before him.

"... Gareth?"

Merlin thought back for a few seconds and remembered the name of the young knight.

"it's me."

Gareth nodded.

"Why don't you stop your men from killing civilians?"

Merlin asked seriously.

Sadness flashed in Gareth's eyes, and then turned into firmness.

"They are hopeless. In order to prevent the abyss from being taken away, no one can be allowed to leave."

She ordered her men to burn the village to the ground.

Merlin looked at Gareth in astonishment.

"Your Excellency Merlin, in the past I did not obey the Lion Knight's order to kill all the survivors, but instead fostered a surviving child in a big village."

Gareth's tone trembled a little.

"A few days later, all the troops stationed there were wiped out, and the whole village became a paradise for monsters. In the end, I found out that it was the child I let go that caused all this."
