Volume 2: The stamens of the Liberty Bell point toward the sky

8. Human Town

In front of me is a huge abyss.

The divided ground looked like a cracked eggshell.

On the back is a forest that seems to extend infinitely on the plane.

The trunks and leaves seemed to be covered with a layer of gray-brown.

There is a faint sound of air flowing around.

Lily was still staring at the sky in a daze.

The sky was still a little gloomy, with a slight red tinge.

But against such a backdrop, the clouds drifted in clusters along with the wind.

The sky at least is fluid.

The feeling of reality is enhanced.

After Ai'er put the girl down, she took out the gem and arranged something. Complex patterns spread out along the gem, making changes.

"After setting up the teleportation array, we will be teleported to a human town far away. As long as those old immortals don't come looking for us, we will be safe. Then we will find a small hotel... We don't have enough money, do you want to sleep together..."

However, the black-haired girl did not answer.

She pointed around:

“Is this a forest?”

Ai'er, who was arranging the transmission, choked:

"Isn't this obvious at first glance?"

Yes, it's a forest.

Lily thought of the forest scenes that might have appeared in pictures or videos from her past life. They were too unreal, so Lily subconsciously ignored them.

However, this is the first time I’ve been there in person.

It was as if something was being buried in the deep darkness.

This is the real forest you see.

"What about this?"

"This is the Pukosta Abyss, also known as the South Chasm. We came out of it, don't you know?"

This is the first time I know of such a thing.

Lily took weak steps to the edge of the abyss and peered down.

A layer of colorful film floats downwards, flowing unrealistically.

"Hey, don't do this, it's dangerous!..." Ai'er hurriedly pulled Lily back.

"What's down there?"

"Ah, that should be a temporary world built by those old guys. After all, if you want to attack by force, you still need some strength... Let's go, don't look at it! When the old guys can't hold on any longer and run away, the world will be broken!"

Lily looked up at the sky again.

The lavender pupils reflected even more light.

Ai'er was stunned.

This guy, doesn't he really know nothing?

It was as if something soft inside me was hit.

She subconsciously put her hand on Lily's head and rubbed it.

However, Lily turned her head sharply, with a wary look in her eyes.

Ai'er was startled by such a violent reaction and hurriedly put her hand down.

After a while, the vigilance in Lily's eyes faded.

"What's wrong?" Lily asked.

"Nothing... Sorry, your nasty words..."

Lily shook her head.

That's just an unnecessary conditioned reflex after being abused.

She remembered that she had escaped from her sister who had abused her like that.

From now on, run far away.

Don't meet your sister again from now on.

It is impossible for my sister to rub my head again.

……

The light spread out.

Two petite figures emerged from it.

In the forest nearly five miles away from the human town.

The trees here are much greener than those near the abyss.

Lily looked up at the sky through the densely obscured trees.

The sky here is blue.

It is the same blue as the unknown memory.

Lily suddenly felt somewhat familiar.

"The farthest I can teleport is only to this coordinate...there aren't many coordinate crystals left..." Ai'er was rummaging through her space gem in distress.

Then she found a gray coat and covered Lily with it.

The horrific wound on Lily's abdomen had almost disappeared, leaving only a faint line of blood.

Ai'er was a little surprised when she noticed this, but then she seemed to understand something.

Lily's naked tenderness was wrapped up like this.

"Sorry, this is the only set I have as a backup for now. When we get to the human town, I'll buy you some comfortable clothes."

Lily shook her head and stumbled to her feet.

The already pitifully small amount of magic power had been used to speed up the recovery of the body, and now there is not even a drop left.

"Do you want me to carry you?" Looking at the black-haired girl's bare feet stepping on the rough grass, Ai'er caught up with the girl who was staggering in front of her with some heartache.

Lily shook her head. However, she stumbled and fell to the ground again. There was a shallow bloody mark on the sole of her foot.

"Okay, I'll carry you! Don't refuse!"

Elle seemed to have unexpectedly abundant physical strength.

"Don't look at it like that. I have processed my own body."

"Processing?"

"We elves have always been weak physically. So I wear Fugue wrist guards on my joints, and I can lift heavy objects with magic."

Lily quickly understood the principle.

As usual, the elf carried the girl on its back and wandered through the wide and narrow bushes and the fallen tree trunks and branches.

After walking for a while, Lily forcibly got off the other person:

"That's it."

"Is it really okay?"

"no problem."

Lily walked in front, and although her steps were still a little unsteady, at least she wouldn't fall easily.

"Wait a minute, slow down. It's okay if you don't go so fast!"

Elle hurriedly walked in front of the black-haired girl, holding Lily and guiding her forward.

The speed was even slower than carrying her on her back, but Ai'er was very patient.

Little feet stepped on the bare soil of the forest.

It's rough enough to be a little painful, and there's a chance you'll get pricked by thorns that appear from nowhere.

But it has a completely different touch than a garden.

A brand new touch.

"What an amazing feeling."

Lily murmured.

……

"That one in front, is that 'town'?"

"Yes. It is a place specially built by humans for everyone to live. This is just a town, below it there are 'villages' and 'settlements', and above it there are 'cities' and 'capitals'."

"Rest?"

"So, in the covenant, any act of harming innocent and weak humans is prohibited. After all, it also affects the reputation of the race."

"…Human beings, what are they?"

"Humans..."

Just as Ai'er was about to explain, the two seemed to have walked to the bottom of the city wall.
