Chapter 169: Bowtruckle and Thestral
The long line moved forward a few steps from time to time, and from above it looked like a slowly crawling snake.
Harry and his two companions were standing at the back at first, but soon there were more than ten people behind them.
"It's almost dinner time." Ron looked at the team in front of him hopefully and said, "I hope everyone will go to dinner by then, and it will be our turn soon."
"Believe me, other people think so too," said Harry.
Hermione bit her fingers nervously. "Listen to me, Michael and the others said that they seemed to have put some dangerous magical creatures in there... and the plants cultivated by Professor Sprout..."
"I really should have read 'One Thousand Magical Herbs and Their Species' again before I came here, as well as 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'... Why is Care of Magical Creatures not taught until the third year?"
"Maybe it's because we can't deal with those dangerous creatures until our third year?" Harry said casually.
Hermione grew visibly nervous.
"Should we withdraw from the team first? I don't think I can use the Armor Spell very well..."
"No, that's too embarrassing! Look, there are first-year students who are going to challenge us!" Ron said disapprovingly.
At this time, a Hufflepuff student behind them said: "Potter, is this your first challenge?"
Harry nodded.
The boy smiled and said, "Don't worry. The first level is filled with ordinary plants and animals. As long as you are careful, even ordinary people won't get hurt. It must be easy for you."
"Hey, little Ronnie, and Harry and Hermione! I've been waiting for you to come!"
Suddenly a voice sounded above his head. Before Harry turned around, he heard Ron say angrily, "I told you not to call me that, Fred!"
"When you can recognize that I am George and not Fred, I will stop calling you by your nickname." said one of the red-haired twins.
Ron choked.
After so many years, even his mother might not be able to tell the two twins apart, let alone him?
"George, what's that in your hand?" asked Hermione.
"good question."
George was carrying a large cage covered with a green cloth, and there came from it a strange squeaking noise, as if he were carrying a cage of mice.
Hearing this, he reached in happily and pinched out a slender, green root-like thing with two small brown eyes and long, vine-like fingers.
"Bowtruckle!" Hermione cried out. "I know it's a tree guardian creature that likes woodpeckers."
"Well said, Hermione, it's a pity I can't give you any extra points."
George blinked, pulled out a slip of paper, wrote "Hermione Granger" on it, and handed it to Bowtruckle.
The little creature held the note, then timidly climbed up onto Hermione's shoulder and sat down.
Hermione looked at it cautiously: "...?"
The Bowtruckle also looked at her, but unfortunately its eyes were only the size of sesame seeds and no emotion could be seen from them.
"Protect these little guys."
George distributed Bowtruckles to Harry and Ron, saying, "They have been bred for generations in Mr. Scamander's estate. They are very smart and will be your scorekeepers."
"Scorer?" Harry repeated.
"That's right!" George said, "You can't expect the professor to follow every challenger and keep score for them, right?"
He was about to leave, but after taking two steps he turned back and said:
"By the way, in case you haven't heard - if your Bowtruckle dies during a challenge, all your points will be reset to zero! It's uncertain whether you can participate in the challenge again!"
"What?" Ron said in a horrified voice, "But it's so weak!"
His Bowtruckle pulled Ron's hair angrily.
"That's why it's the ultimate challenge!" George waved his hand perfunctorily: "You can understand, right? Such a clever Bowtruckle is not infinite!"
He went to distribute Bowtruckles to other students who were taking the challenge for the first time, and Harry and the other two looked at each other.
"If they're in danger, why not cast an Shield Charm on them first?" Hermione suggested.
Harry nodded silently.
Ron looked gloomy - even though Harry was also teaching him the Shield Charm, Ron hadn't mastered it yet.
He thought about it all the way, and finally when he was about to reach the entrance, his eyes suddenly lit up.
Ron picked up a few nut shells from the ground and used an immature sticking spell to stick them together to make an "armor" for the little Bowtruckle.
"I hope it can protect you. You should also take good care of yourself and don't make me worry."
Ron put the "armor" on the little guy and gave him careful instructions.
I don't know if the Bowtruckle understood it, but he tapped the armor with his long fingers, as if he felt it was not very comfortable.
The team finally got their turn.
Ron entered first, then Harry, and finally Hermione.
When Hermione entered, she found that Harry and Ron, who had entered a few seconds earlier than her, were gone.
"Okay, I guessed it. Since they let us in one by one, they will definitely not let us all gather together."
She talked to herself to encourage herself while exploring and moving forward.
"It's only the first level. It can't be that difficult. Am I right? Uh...how about I call you Golori? Do you like this name?"
The Bowtruckle, now given a new name, suddenly yelped and pointed to the side.
Hermione was startled and turned around to see that it was a snow-white little rabbit.
"Oh--"
Hermione's expression softened and she slowly walked over, wanting to reach out and touch it.
The little white rabbit took a step back.
"squeak--"
Glory suddenly shouted again.
Hermione was stunned for a moment, then suddenly realized that she wanted to step back, but suddenly found herself surrounded by seven or eight rabbits.
When she turned her head, the little white rabbit suddenly jumped up and bumped into Hermione!
In the maze, students' screams could be heard one after another.
Even the most ordinary animals can surprise people when they display aggressive behavior.
Vader, temporarily acting as a patrolman, rode on the back of the Thestral and circled above the maze for inspection.
Ron was chased by a group of geese and ran away in panic.
After Hermione got rid of the rabbits, she was entangled by monkeys again. It's not that she couldn't handle it, but her reaction was always a little slow.
Harry, on the other hand, was coping well enough to have made it into the second circle, where he was trying to snatch his glasses back from a Niffler.
He couldn't see the road clearly and fell several times, looking a bit disheveled.
Neville finally found the passage between the outer layer and the second circle, but accidentally fell into a trap and was hung upside down. This little guy's luck value has always been very low;
Wade waited nearby for a while, and seeing that he had not given up and was still trying to use the Cutting Spell to cut the vines that were hanging on him, he went to check elsewhere.
Theo had just been sent out by the elf, and Ryan was still holding on to the third round. Several Augureys were making trembling calls nearby, which made him fall into a low and sad mood, and he didn't want to move for a long time.
A red hat was approaching Ryan from behind. If he didn't wake up in time, he might be eliminated.
Seeing that the house-elves were guarding nearby, Weed changed direction with confidence.
Padma was just eliminated by a Boggart... Rolf has even reached the third round. Most of the students here are already in the third grade or above...
Then Wade thought that Rolf came from a family of scholars and might find it easier to deal with these magical creatures than most students.
Some of them even came from the suitcase space in their house. Rolf had been feeding them since they were young, so he naturally didn't have to worry about being harmed by these creatures.
If it weren't for the various obstacles set up by Hogwarts itself in the maze, this little guy might have made it all the way to the seventh circle?
Wade observed from above for a while, and seeing that Rolf was trapped in a puzzle of Professor Snape and couldn't get out for a while, he continued to watch the other students.
"Ahhh-"
Suddenly, screams of several people were heard in the maze.
Vader was shocked.
Without his command, Ye Qi flew quickly towards the direction where the sound came from.
"boom!"
Under the horrified gazes of several girls, Harry flew backwards suddenly and a stream of blood spurted out from his chest!
What everyone couldn't see was that a thestral raised its hoof high and stomped towards the boy on the ground!
Chapter 170 Thestral Geraldine
At the critical moment, an extremely old house-elf suddenly appeared beside Harry, grabbed his arm, and disappeared with him in an instant.
At the same moment three or four spells struck the attacking Thestral, pinning it in midair.
One of the spells came from Vader.
He took his wand, jumped off the Thestral's back, and ran over to check.
Soon after, Professor Sprout and Professor Snape also appeared nearby.
"What's going on?" Professor Snape said with a dark face, staring dangerously at the frightened girls.
"An invisible being...it attacked Harry Potter!"
One of the little girls said in a panic that she looked like she was about to cry.
"A house-elf has taken Harry away!"
Vader took one look at the girl's red hair...another Weasley.
Hagrid also hurried over, looking at the Thestral that was suspended in the air, and said worriedly and puzzledly: "But Geraldine is a good and docile child...it has never attacked anyone..."
