This course has always been a popular elective course, and the vast majority of students will choose it. Therefore, the classes are taught separately in two colleges, just like the required courses.
Ravenclaw was sorted with Hufflepuff.
They walked along the slope to the edge of the forbidden forest and arrived just in time for class, but there was no sign of the professor.
"Where's Professor Hagrid?" asked Hannah Abbott of Hufflepuff. "Has he lost track of time?"
The students waited for a while, and someone took the initiative to knock on Hagrid's hut door, but received no response.
"Did we remember the wrong place for class?"
When he came back, he said uncertainly.
"I heard some noise over there." Ryan pointed to a place not far away and said, "It seems like something is calling over there."
"Let's go and have a look." Anthony Goldstein made the decision: "Professor Hagrid might be waiting for us over there!"
He was warm and generous, caring for others, and had always been the center of attention among Ravenclaw students. Upon hearing this, everyone followed him.
Wade guessed something, but didn't say anything and just followed the team.
This place was very close to the forbidden forest. Many students who had never dared to set foot in this area were excited and nervous, and unknowingly leaned against each other.
Then, they all heard the cry that Ryan mentioned, followed by the sound of someone inhaling.
Twelve strange creatures were in a paddock. They had the bodies of horses, the heads, wings and front claws of eagles, and their fur was colorful. Some were eating meat, some were lying on the ground to rest, and two seemed to be playing.
The arrival of the students startled these creatures. Those lying on the ground immediately stood up, staring at each other cautiously without approaching.
"Hippogriff!" Theo exclaimed. "Is this what Professor Hagrid is going to teach us?"
"How cool!" Michael cheered. "I didn't know there were creatures like this in the Forbidden Forest!"
"So where is the professor?"
Padma was a little scared. She grabbed Michael's sleeve tightly and tried to retreat: "Maybe we should leave... go find Professor Hagrid first..."
"Don't be afraid, Padma." Michael comforted her: "The professor may have gone to prepare food for them! We have to learn how to feed the hippogriffs!"
Padma turned pale and screamed, "Still want closer contact?!"
Before he could finish his words, a voice came from behind: "What are you doing here?!"
Everyone turned around and saw Professor McGonagall striding towards them with a worried and anxious look on her face. She only relaxed when she saw that there was at least twenty meters between the students and the Hippogriff.
"We are getting ready for class, Professor," said Anthony Goldstein, "but for some reason Professor Hagrid hasn't arrived yet."
Professor McGonagall frowned: "Didn't anyone inform you? This class is temporarily cancelled!"
"Cancel? Why?" Anthony asked curiously.
"Something happened..." Professor McGonagall said vaguely: "In short, for everyone's safety, don't get close to here for the time being. Go back to the castle, quickly!"
The students hesitated, but under Professor McGonagall's stern gaze, they headed towards the castle.
"Why is it cancelled?" Michael said, "We're only having our first Care of Magical Creatures class."
"Look, look over there." Wade raised his chin and gestured.
Michael turned around and saw fresh blood in the grass and on the fence of the paddock.
His face turned pale: "Is anyone injured?"
"I guess so," said Wade. "The eagle's claws and beak are both capable of hurting people."
"Luckily we didn't go over there." Padma patted her chest thankfully and said, "I hope Hermione and the others weren't hurt."
Michael was a little unhappy and a little unbelievable: "Professor Hagrid didn't take proper safety precautions? How could he make such a mess in the first class?"
"Who knows? Maybe someone else did something stupid." Wade said, "Anyway, go to the school hospital and you'll find out."
"but……"
Michael turned around and caught the eye of a hippogriff.
"Maybe next time we come to class, we won't be able to see them... maybe we won't be able to see them anymore..."
Chapter 334: Vader: Shall we talk?
The classes that were supposed to be taken were suddenly cancelled. Most of the students took advantage of this seemingly stolen time to rest or play in the maze, while Wade and others came to the school infirmary.
In the distance, they heard someone shouting:
"I was almost killed! I'm going to tell my dad! Just wait, you big, stupid guy, my dad will never let you go!"
Michael's steps stopped suddenly.
"Malfoy? The injured person is Malfoy?" He looked at Wade: "Then there is no need for us to go and see, right?"
"That's not a good thing, Michael." Theo frowned and said, "Professor Hagrid might be expelled for this."
Michael waved his hand. "It's normal to have accidents during class. Who hasn't been injured in Potions class? Oh... Wade probably hasn't."
As he spoke, he was ready to turn around and leave.
Then they heard Malfoy in the ward still shouting: "And that damn beast! I must chop it up! It's dead!"
Michael's expression suddenly became a little ugly.
"Go and have a look," said Wade.
They continued forward, and when they reached the door, they heard Harry say in a weak voice, "Shut up, Malfoy."
His voice was not loud, but Malfoy actually became quiet for a moment. At this moment, Wade pushed open the half-closed door of the ward.
There were people lying on two of the beds.
There were several bloody cuts on Harry's clothes behind his shoulders, his body was covered in blood, and his face was extremely pale.
Madam Pomfrey smeared a thick green ointment on his body, then handed Harry a cup of bubbling, horrible-tasting liquid and asked him to drink it.
As for Draco Malfoy, there was blood on his arm, but not much. It had healed under the effect of the spell, but he still held his arm and groaned on the bed, saying that his arm hurt.
Hagrid was in the corner, the stool beneath him too tempting for him, and he sat carefully on it, with his hands on his knees, almost looking huddled up in it.
He looked at the ground dejectedly and did not respond to Malfoy's insults, as if he had become autistic due to the blow.
The arrival of Wade and others interrupted the slightly weird atmosphere in the ward.
"Harry?" Theo asked in surprise, "How did you get hurt?"
"Bad luck." Harry muttered, and asked, "Why are you here? Aren't we supposed to be in class at this time?"
"Yes, Care of Magical Creatures." Michael glanced at Hagrid in the corner and said, "But the professor is not here, and our class has been cancelled."
"I'm sorry," Hagrid said listlessly. "I'm so sorry, I may not be able to teach you... Hogwarts has never had a professor who only worked for one day."
"It's not your fault, Hagrid."
Harry quickly comforted him: "You said that hippogriffs are proud creatures and should be respected. It was Malfoy who deliberately insulted them, so he angered them. This is Malfoy's own fault."
"It's his fault!" Malfoy shouted angrily, "He shouldn't have brought that dangerous creature to class!"
"The basilisk is more dangerous, but we are facing it!" Harry shouted back, "No wonder you didn't participate last time, it turns out you are a coward!"
Malfoy was huffing and puffing with anger and a little guilt, and he glanced quickly at Vader and Madam Pomfrey.
The reason he didn't take part in the Basilisk Challenge last semester was because he and Crabbe had a bit of a "heart-to-heart" conflict before that.
That matter was blocked at the strong request of his father, and Harry and others did not know about it, but Madam Pomfrey, who participated in the rescue of Crabbe, and Vader, who provided video evidence, knew it clearly.
Madam Pomfrey seemed to have heard nothing and just held the cup forward.
"Drink it, boy. The Hippogriff's claws may have poison in them, and the wound on your back is too deep to heal easily."
Harry, who was originally filled with righteous indignation, looked bitterly. He shrank back and looked at the terrible dark green potion. He would rather challenge the Hippogriff face to face.
But under Madam Pomfrey's stern gaze, Harry took the cup, closed his eyes, and drank it all.
The suffocating smell of the potion spread, stronger than a hundred smelly socks. Seeing this, even Malfoy showed a sympathetic look.
Madam Pomfrey was somewhat satisfied. She then gave Wade and the others a warning look and said:
"Don't get into conflicts in the ward. If you disturb my patients, I will kick you all out!"
"Understood, ma'am." Several people agreed one after another.
Madam Pomfrey left, and Harry immediately covered his mouth, fearing that he would spit out the potion he had just drunk.
Ignoring Malfoy in the next bed, Wade asked Harry, "Malfoy angered the Hippogriff, was attacked, and then what happened? How did you get hurt?"
Hearing this, Harry, with a painful look on his face, froze for a moment, then immediately started coughing loudly.
Malfoy also looked away, as if avoiding something.
Hagrid next to him spoke up: "Harry was injured because he saved Malfoy... It's all my fault. If I had caught Buckbeak at the time, nothing would have happened..."
"I shouldn't have let them all go. If I had only untied the collar of one hippogriff, I could have controlled the situation in time..."
"Or if I had realized that something was going to go wrong when Malfoy was talking nonsense and rushed to their side immediately, this incident would not have happened..."
"Maybe I should have taught something safe in my first class, like Flobberworms or something... Why did I think preparing a surprise would make my students like me more? I screwed up everything..."
"I'm really an idiot... I'm not fit to be a professor..."
As Hagrid sat here, he had obviously reviewed the classroom incident over and over again. He counted his mistakes one by one, regretted them so much that tears were about to fall.
Malfoy snorted coldly and said softly: "You are self-aware! The lesson you prepared is terrible!"
"No!" Michael was startled and said quickly, "The Hippogriff is indeed a surprise, I like it very much! And I don't want to see Flobberworms in class at all!"
"Really?" Hagrid looked at him with tears in his eyes.
"Of course." Ryan also said: "I am looking forward to our next Care of Magical Creatures class. I hope you will not be absent again, Professor."
"And the Hippogriff!" Michael added.
"But this creature is indeed dangerous." Padma coughed dryly and said tactfully: "For everyone's safety, can we take some measures? Regarding this, I have a little suggestion..."
Several people gathered around Hagrid, helping the frustrated professor to redesign a safer and more interesting course.
Wade walked to Malfoy's bed and smiled kindly.
