Rebirth: I am in Jin-Cha-Ji

"Yes."
Although the Fourth District was a military district that was disbanded by the Jin-Cha-Ji Military Region.
But in peacetime battles, they always followed the 129th Division because the base of the Fourth Division was close to the 129th Division.
Chapter 455 Gift
"Have the 11 rifles for the 3000th Detachment been delivered?"
"Yes."
This Jin-Cha-Ji Conference was mainly aimed at the first, second, third and fifth districts.
Especially the first and third zones.
Marshal Nie believed that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for development. Therefore, he asked the First and Third Districts to put aside all their burdens and boldly develop in Hebei. He even deployed the troops from the old base areas to capture cities and territories in Hebei and open up new base areas. Marshal Nie was worried that the First and Third Districts would have some concerns about fully developing in Hebei, so he convened this meeting. In fact, it was a mobilization meeting to unify the leadership of the First and Third Districts. Not only the army, but Marshal Nie began to mobilize local cadres from the old base areas in Beiyue District on a large scale to enter the Jizhong Military Region to establish a local government. After the meeting, Marshal Nie spoke to Wang Qiuyun and Wei Hongjun alone.
In the current Jin-Cha-Ji Military Region, including the Central Hebei Military Region and the Eastern Hebei Base Area, the strongest and most powerful division remains the First Division. With its vast territory, numerous troops, and high combat effectiveness, it was often subjected to the most raids by the Japanese army and faced the strongest Japanese forces. Next in line was the Eighth Column, and then the Third Division.
The 8th Column's capture of Zhangjiakou directly enhanced the strength of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Army.
Therefore, the status of the Eighth Column in Marshal Nie's mind became increasingly higher.
When Wei Hongjun heard Marshal Nie asking about this, he immediately said, "It has been sent to the 11th Detachment. We in the 11th Column believe that we must develop towards the Northeast in the future. If we want to develop towards the Northeast, Jidong and Rehe are very important channels. Although our 3000th Column has sent many troops to open up Rehe, the 11th Detachment has an unparalleled advantage in terms of its foundation in Rehe. They have been developing in Rehe for three years and have sufficient strength and foundation here. Their only problem is the lack of weapons and ammunition. So we decided to give them 29 rifles and some light and heavy machine guns. With these weapons and ammunition, the th Detachment will be able to quickly integrate the local forces and guerrillas in their hands. Both sides have enough strength in Rehe to compete with the Japanese th Division for control of Rehe.
"You did a good job."
Marshal Nie affirmed the actions of the Eighth Column.
Of course, there is another main reason because the Ji-Re-Liao Advance Army has been disbanded and integrated into the Jin-Cha-Ji Military Region. Therefore, the 11th Detachment has also become a Jin-Cha-Yi unit.
"We are all members of the Eighth Route Army, and this is as it should be.
"I'm keeping you two here because of the supplies list you handed in. Is there really that much stuff?"
"Commander, that's the rough result of our statistics on the supplies in Zhangjiakou's military warehouses over the past six months. The data may not be accurate, but the general figures are correct."
Although Zhangjiakou was captured by the 8th Column, the supplies inside certainly did not all belong to the 8th Column.
Of course, the Eighth Column, being close to the enemy, would certainly have gotten the most. Just look at the weapons distribution. Of the over 50,000 rifles seized in Zhangjiakou, the Eighth Column quickly divided up 15,000 of them.
The main regiments of the 8th Column were now fully equipped with brand new, all-Type 38 rifles. The Jin-made, Zhongzheng-made, and even the better Hanyang-made rifles that were replaced from the main regiments were transferred to the 8th Column's own expanded regiments. Those miscellaneous regiments without military district designations were now equipped with Jin-made, Zhongzheng-made, and Hanyang-made rifles. There were even quite a few Type 38 rifles.
Then those who were replaced from their hands joined the local forces.
Many rifles were in the hands of the county brigade and district squad, and eventually many of them found their way into the hands of local militia. It can be said that the entire 8th Column had its weapons updated.
The light and heavy machine guns and artillery were basically divided up by the 8th Column.
But the Eighth Column couldn't keep all the other supplies to itself. The specific inventory of supplies still had to be submitted to the military region. Many of the supplies ultimately needed to be distributed by the military region.
Marshal Nie nodded.
Although he knew that there were a lot of supplies in Zhangjiakou, Marshal Nie did not expect there would be so many.
The supplies were more than the Jin-Cha-Ji Military Region had used since its establishment. The supplies from Zhangjiakou alone were enough to allow the Jin-Cha-Ji Military Region's troops and logistics agencies to survive this most difficult year.
"Commander, in addition to the supplies we submitted, we also obtained other things from Zhangjiakou. For the past few months, I have been working with the Political Department to sort out the assets of Japanese trading companies, Japanese expatriates, puppet government agencies, and traitorous landlords and merchants in Zhangjiakou.
Now we have preliminary statistics. In addition to the houses, shops and other real estate, the gold, silver, Mengjiang notes, and various materials we seized from Zhangjiakou are worth more than 900 million yuan.
Among them, there are about 1200 kilograms of gold bars. When I came this time, I brought all these gold bars with me.
"so much?"
"Yes. There are many wealthy businessmen in Zhangjiakou, especially Japanese businessmen and traitorous businessmen. These people are very rich. Moreover, we have become more and more powerful in Chahar in recent years, and those traitorous landlords are afraid of our liquidation. The rich have all fled to Zhangjiakou. These traitorous landlords have accumulated amazing wealth from generation to generation. It is far beyond our imagination." Zhangjiakou is so wealthy that it is simply incomparable to those small counties.
Historically, when the Eighth Route Army captured Zhangjiakou, Japanese expatriates had already evacuated Zhangjiakou by train, taking away a large amount of Zhangjiakou's wealth. But this time, they were all blocked inside by the Eighth Column.
Japanese businessmen are very rich.
Now they have all been confiscated by the Eighth Column.
However, the amount of money was too much, especially the 1200 kilograms of gold, which was not something the Eighth Column could handle.
The Eighth Route Army was currently short of money, and life in Yan'an was extremely difficult. The Eighth Route Army base was not only blockaded by the Japanese and puppet troops, but also by the Nationalist army. This, coupled with the severe drought in North China, had severely impacted the Eighth Route Army's economy.
With these gold bars, the lives of the Eighth Route Army can be improved.
"Okay, okay. I thank you on behalf of the Central Committee. Right now, both Yan'an and the other Eighth Route Army units are in dire straits. This money will help them out in their immediate needs."
Marshal Nie never thought of keeping the money in Jin-Cha-Ji.
Because the Eighth Column captured Zhangjiakou, the Jin-Cha-Ji Border Region had a relatively comfortable year. Furthermore, the Jin-Cha-Ji Border Region Bank had greatly increased its strength after taking over the Mengjiang Bank. By utilizing supplies from Zhangjiakou, prices in the base area were stabilized, and more importantly, the influence of the Border Region currency expanded dramatically.
Furthermore, the Mengjiang Bank was used to reclaim a large amount of Mengjiang notes from Chahar, using this money to purchase supplies in the Japanese war zone. Although the Mengjiang Bank's central bank was absorbed by the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Border Region Bank, numerous Mengjiang Bank branches remained throughout the country. It was unlikely that Japan would stop issuing Mengjiang notes anytime soon.
This gave the Eighth Route Army an opportunity to gain a time difference.
Use Mengjiang coupons to purchase supplies in the Japanese war zone.
So Jinchayi was still living a good life. Since Jinchayi was living a good life, it certainly couldn't stand by and watch Yan'an and other fraternal units suffer. So Marshal Nie planned to hand over all the gold to Yan'an.
"What do you want to do next?"
"Commander, our next step is to march westward to capture Jining and establish contact with the Jinsui base area. We will also march eastward to capture Chengde and Chifeng to open the road to the Northeast."
"We'll talk about the Rehe issue later. But after you capture Jining, you won't just be facing the Japanese and puppet troops. You'll also have to face Fu Zuoyi's Shanxi-Suiyuan Army. Have you thought about how to get along with the Shanxi-Suiyuan Army?"
Compared with the 129th Division, the Shandong Eighth Route Army, and the New Fourth Army, who had to face friction with the National Army, many cadres in Jin-Cha-Ji had no experience in this area.
Because there are no national army here.
But once the Eighth Column captures Jining, they will have to face this problem.
"Commander, our idea is that we are willing to work hard to maintain the anti-Japanese united front. But if anyone undermines the anti-Japanese united front, we will not swallow our anger and are willing to fight back resolutely.
Wei Hongjun replied.
Wei Hongjun certainly did not want to have too many conflicts with Fu Zuoyi's troops.
After all, his troops were very strong. They were the ones who wiped out over 5000 Japanese troops in a single battle during the Battle of Baotou. But if they were to provoke him, Wei Hongjun would definitely give them a resolute counterattack.
Marshal Nie pondered for a moment and asked, "Do you know whose general Fu Zuoyi is?
"Yan Xishan."
"Then do you know who is more powerful in Shanxi, Yan Xishan or Fu Zuoyi?"
"Yan Xishan."
Although Yan Xishan only controls about 20 counties in Shanxi, he may seem like a lost dog. However, he has been operating in Shanxi for many years and his power in Shanxi is very strong. As long as the Anti-Japanese War is victorious, Yan Xishan will still be welcomed by the powerful people in Shanxi when he returns to Shanxi in the future.
In this respect, Fu Zuoyi cannot compare with Yan Xishan.
After all, Fu Zuoyi was just a soldier, a former general under Yan Xishan. Although he now seemed to have gained independence and was the king of Suiyuan, and his troops were very powerful, this was only a special case.
Even now, Fu Zuoyi's troops still need Yan Xishan's support in weapons, ammunition and logistical supplies.
"When Yan Xishan and Fu Zuoyi clashed, would Chiang Kai-shek support Yan Xishan or Fu Zuoyi?"
"Yan Xishan."
Chiang Kai-shek did not trust either Yan Xishan or Fu Zuoyi, after all, they were not his own people.
But if they were to clash now, he would definitely support Yan Xishan. This was because after the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Fu Zuoyi and the Eighth Route Army were so close that Fu Zuoyi's troops were even called the "Seventh Route and a Half."
Chiang Kai-shek and Yan Xishan issued several orders to reprimand Fu Zuoyi, criticizing him for being too close to the Eighth Route Army.
Compared to the Japanese and warlords, Chiang Kai-shek was most wary of the Chinese Communist Party. If Fu Zuoyi got involved with the Eighth Route Army, the consequences would be very serious.
Marshal Nie nodded.
Then he spoke earnestly, "What about Yan Xishan? He's an old, wealthy man from Shanxi, and he's always calculating. He's capable, resourceful, and good at calculating accounts. But he lacks courage and generosity. First, the Jin army had General Shang Zhen desert, and then there was the execution of Li Fuying, commander of the 61st Army. Sometimes, it's not the actual fighting on the battlefield that really strikes the enemy.
Wang Qiuyun didn't care much about this.
He was thinking about the issue of war.
But Wei Hongjun understood Marshal Nie's intentions. He nodded and said, "Commander, we will be cautious with the Shanxi-Suiyuan Army."
"Ah."
Marshal Nie nodded.
I know Wei Hongjun understands what I say.
Marshal Nie continued, "After you capture Jining, you will not only have to face Fu Zuoyi's troops, but you will also have to establish contact with the Jinsui Military Region. The Daqingshan Detachment has been fighting in northern Suiyuan. Their conditions are difficult, and they will have many problems with weapons, ammunition, and logistics. If possible, provide them with some weapons, ammunition, and supplies."
"Yes."
Chapter 456: Jin-Cha-Ji
13th Military Sub-district
This Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Conference was called the "Yixian Conference."
It is famous in the history of Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei.
Prior to this meeting, the overall strategy of the Jin-Cha-Ji region was to rely primarily on guerrilla warfare in the mountains, emphasizing mobile warfare and ambushes whenever possible. The entire Jin-Cha-Ji base area developed under this guiding philosophy. However, after this meeting, the strategic and tactical strategies of the Jin-Cha-Ji forces began to undergo significant changes.
That is to regularize the main force and form a large-scale military group.
The main force before Jin-Cha-Ji had always been developed in regimental units. For example, there were nearly 20 main regiments in one division, but there was no organization above the regiment level. All the regiments were directly led by the military division.
This is mainly because the overall strategy and tactics are mountain guerrilla warfare.
This kind of mountain guerrilla warfare requires a limited number of troops. If there are too many troops, the speed of movement will be restricted, which is not suitable for guerrilla warfare.
Therefore, the military sub-districts have always developed independently behind enemy lines, using regiments as units. Military sub-districts only concentrate their forces when conducting large-scale ambushes during counter-sweep operations. Normally, these units develop independently, without the need for higher-level organization.
But now things are starting to get better.
The scale of the war between the Jin-Cha-Ji troops began to expand, and each battle required two, three, or even more regiments to cooperate in the battle. This required the Jin-Cha-Ji Military Region to make some changes.
A new command structure will be established between the military sub-districts and the regiments.
Therefore, the main force began to organize brigade-level units to fight mobile and regular warfare against the Japanese. Furthermore, the main force began a large-scale advance into Hebei, attacking Hebei county towns. The Eighth Route Army controlled many county towns during the War of Resistance, but this was the first time such a large-scale capture of a county town had occurred.
In accordance with the order of the military region army, the First Division formed the Second Brigade of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Region and the Third Brigade of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Region.
The Second Jin-Cha-Ji Brigade was commanded by Huang Fa, a favored general of Yang Quanwu and deputy commander and chief of staff of the First Division. Its political commissar was Li Zhimin, deputy director of the First Division's political department. The Second Brigade comprised the 1st, 3rd, and 20th Regiments, along with a newly formed 1st Artillery Regiment, totaling 3 men. This was the true powerhouse of the First Division, with the st and rd Regiments being its most effective units.
Huang Fa was Yang Quanwu's most admired general. In the historical battle that killed Abe Nobuhide, Yang Quanwu was in overall command, while Huang Fa was the frontline commander. Li Zhimin, on the other hand, had previously served as the director of the Political Department of the Second Branch of the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University and deputy director of the Political Department of the First Division. During the formation of the Second Jin-Cha-Ji Brigade, Li Zhimin served as the political commissar of the Second Brigade, partnering with Huang Fa.
The Second Brigade, formed by the First Division, was a highly effective unit within the entire Eighth Route Army. After its formation, the Second Brigade moved northward, successively capturing Zhuo County, Gu'an, Liangxiang, and Huangcun. Adding to the already controlled Xincheng, Xiong County, Ba County, and Wen'an, this quickly brought the total to eight counties. This expanded the First Division's base area to eight counties, bringing its population to nearly two million.
The commander of the Third Brigade of the Jin-Cha-Ji Army was Chen Kaikun, deputy commander of the First Division, and the political commissar was Wang Daobang. Wang Daobang was a veteran Red Army cadre and a veteran cadre of the First Red Division. After the establishment of the independent regiment, he served as the head of the Organization Section and the political commissar of the First Regiment. He and Chen Kaikun had been partners for many years. The Third Brigade was under the command of the 17th, 22nd, and 36th Regiments, and a newly formed Second Artillery Regiment. Although not as powerful as the Second Brigade, it was also composed of the top-notch main force regiments of the First Division. The Third Brigade marched eastward to capture Xushui, Rongcheng, Anxin, and Gaoyang, and fought a battle with the Second Regiment of the 27th Division in Renqiu.
