It is said that the Buddha Shakyamuni passed away between two sal trees in Kusinagara. There are two trees in the east, west, south and north, and one tree is flourishing and the other is withered. This is called the "four withered and four flourishing" scene.
According to Buddhist scriptures, the twin trees in the east represent 'permanence and impermanence', the twin trees in the south represent 'happiness and no happiness', the twin trees in the west represent 'self and no self', and the twin trees in the north represent 'purity and no purity'.
The flourishing tree symbolizes the true nature of Nirvana: permanence, bliss, self, and purity; the withered and dying tree symbolizes the world: impermanence, no bliss, no self, and no purity.
Impermanence, no joy, no self, and no purity are the manifestations of the world and the various aspects of the world.
Things in the world are ever-changing and impermanent, and all living beings suffer and have no joy.
The Dharma has no self-nature, which is called no self; the world has no purity, which is called no purity.
Permanence, happiness, self and purity are the pursuits of practitioners and the true state after nirvana.
Pursue the eternal and unchanging constant, pursue the happiness that is free from all suffering, pursue the self that controls oneself, and pursue the purity that is spotless.
Shakyamuni entered Nirvana between these eight realms, which means neither withering nor flourishing, neither false nor empty.
Jiang Weichen pondered, among the eight realms, four are worldly aspects, and four are beyond worldly aspects.
Sakyamuni passed away among these eight realms, which was actually to cultivate his mind and cultivate a transcendent Buddha heart through the various states of being in the world.
This is quite similar to Jiang Weichen's insights in recent years. Now Jiang Weichen has achieved the state of peace in the world.
Although this is different from the "purity" and "non-purity" among the eight phases, they lead to the same goal.
Since the birth of his heart source on Mount Fuji and he entered the fetal breathing state, his mind has become stronger. Jiang Weichen has been able to look at his previous hardships with a calm mind.
This is not much different from the "happiness" and "no happiness" among the eight phases.
As for "permanence" and "impermanence", "self" and "no self", Jiang Weichen has not yet achieved them.
Jiang Weichen kept flipping through the book, and felt that the meaning of the opening chapter of the "Zen Sutra of Withering and Flourishing" was surprisingly consistent with his practice of observing the world and the world to refine his mind in recent years.
If he could gain some insights, perhaps his state of mind would improve. As his state of mind improves, more spiritual power would flow from his heart.
If he could be supported in the fetal breathing state all day long, his cultivation speed would greatly increase, and the upper limit of his realm would also increase accordingly.
"Could this be my chance?" Jiang Weichen murmured in his heart, but continued to read.
Duan Siping, a genius, borrowed the meaning of this Buddhist fable and created the "Ku Rong Zen Sutra".
This sutra is divided into two parts, the upper part is about internal strength, and the lower part is an introduction to some cultivation of mental state.
To practice this sutra, one must first understand the way of withering and flourishing, and feel the alternation of withering and flourishing from oneself and all things.
If one's understanding is deep enough, then the cultivation of internal strength can be said to be rapid, but the difficulty lies in the understanding.
If one does not have enough understanding, then the cultivation of internal strength will stagnate directly, and no matter how hard one cultivates, there will be no progress.
This is a skill that tests one's understanding, and it is also a top-level magical skill. If one can reach the state of neither flourishing nor withering, and both flourishing and withering as recorded in the skill, it will be easy to rejuvenate and maintain eternal youth.
You can control your body's instant aging, or you can control yourself to become younger instantly, restoring your physical condition to its peak.
However, one must comprehend the artistic conception of withering and flourishing in order to cultivate to that realm, or in other words, after cultivating to that realm, one will naturally master the artistic conception of withering and flourishing.
Duan Siping must have reached this state, which is why he was able to live to the maximum lifespan of 210 years at the Grandmaster level.
Duan Siping is only 199 years old now, but he has been in a state of withering for many years. Perhaps he is using this state to comprehend the artistic conception of withering and flourishing, hoping to get one step closer.
Duan Siping and Xiaoyaozi are of similar age, and Changchun Valley is also within the territory of Dali. It's a pity that it was occupied by Xiaoyaozi. Why doesn't he go and rob it?
After a long time, Jiang Weichen finished reading the entire "Ku Rong Zen Sutra". This "Ku Rong Zen Sutra" is quite good, and the artistic conception of Ku Rong is very powerful.
Comprehending the artistic conception of withering and flourishing can enable one to smoothly transition between prosperity and decline. By using the artistic conception of withering, one can reduce the consumption of one's own vitality, and by using the artistic conception of flourishing, one can return to the peak at any time.
These are two opposing yet unified artistic conceptions. If they are further extended, they may be used to comprehend the artistic conceptions of time, life and death, etc.
After all, the cycle of growth and decline is the cycle of time, and it is also the cycle of life and death.
Jiang Weichen pondered. The [Zen Sutra of Withering and Flourishing] was very instructive for him, and he felt that the artistic conception of "flourish" was very consistent with his [Heavenly Silkworm Magic Art]. If you trace the two back, they may lead to the same destination, which is the way of vitality and life.
Even the artistic conception of withering and flourishing has similarities with his [Heavenly Silkworm Magic Art]. Between withering and flourishing is nirvana and rebirth, and the original meaning of [Heavenly Silkworm Magic Art] is to break out of the cocoon and become a butterfly, to transform oneself.
"Opportunity, it is indeed an opportunity." Jiang Weichen was delighted. Now he was preparing to comprehend another artistic conception, but now it seems that the artistic conception of withering and flourishing seems to be very suitable for him.
