"He may look simple, but he is actually very cunning at heart."
"Wow! Is the old Taoist priest so irritable? He slaps someone right off the bat... Why didn't Wu Gensheng fight back?"
"He's not here to fight..."
"A lot of people have come again, from the Natural Sect, the One Qi Sect... Hey, that guy with the sword on his back, is that the Liuyun Sword?"
"Huh? Which sect are these ethereal-looking guys from? Trinity Sect? Why haven't I heard of it?"
Gradually, Fu Yuan stopped answering, and only Du Xiaozhai was still in shock.
Fu Yuan placed his own will above the time and space of the valley, thus traveling through time and looking down at the past. Even after the dream at the ruins of the former Medicine Fairy Association, he still felt quite exhausted now.
Du Xiaozhai relied entirely on his innate ability of "wisdom eyes" to see the past, which made it much easier than Fu Yuan, and naturally he had enough energy to ask questions.
"A fight has broken out... A group of people from three sects are besieging one person. How unethical..."
"Didn't you say Wu Gensheng is the head of Quanxing Sect? Why does it seem like he shows mercy everywhere, while those guys from Sanyi Sect are ruthless and want to kill people with every move..."
"Oh my, Wu Gensheng was beaten so badly... Is he going to be beaten to death?"
"Another group of people has arrived... This group is from all walks of life, and there are people I know among them..."
"..."
Fu Yuan didn't have the energy to answer Du Xiaozhai's questions. He was just concentrating on traveling through time and space and looking down at the past.
Fu Yuan naturally knew the cause of the incident through the original work.
Zuo Ruotong, the immortal Changying, the head of the Sanyi Sect, died due to Wu Gensheng and the evil boy Li Muxuan of Quanxing. The Sanyi Sect sought revenge and launched an all-out war with Quanxing.
Once the battle started, there was no stopping. Quan Xing suffered heavy casualties, and only a few people from the Trinity Sect were left at the scene.
As a last resort, Wu Gensheng single-handedly gathered all the sects, including the existing disciples of the Trinity Sect, to the valley of Longhu Mountain, intending to resolve all disputes and completely end this fierce battle.
This is why this scene happened in the valley in the past.
In the end, all the people in Quanxing traveled eight hundred miles at night to come and support their leader. Their strength was equal, which meant that the battle had finally come to an end.
When Quan Xing was surrounding the sect leader Wu Gensheng and leaving, Wu Gensheng suddenly turned his head and looked at a huge rock in the crowd.
"Master, what are you looking at?"
“I always feel like someone is watching me.”
"The master was beaten blind? Where is the person on that stone?"
"Maybe it's an illusion... Let's go, let's go back and continue drinking!"
"..."
……
Fu Yuan's mind returned to his body and he opened his eyes, looking a little tired.
A pair of hands suddenly grabbed Fu Yuan's arm. Many girls like to have long nails, but these hands were very plain and the nails were trimmed neatly, but they looked much better than those with long nails.
Du Xiaozhai's face turned pale. "That Wu Gensheng seemed to glance at me at the last moment?"
Chapter 59 I Only Have Eyes for You
Only Wu Gensheng knows whether he finally saw Du Xiaozhai.
In any case, Du Xiaozhai was so frightened that he couldn't tell whether it was an illusion or not.
However, Du Xiaozhai had a good attitude. After adjusting himself for a while, he put the problem behind him, happily jumped off the boulder and entered the valley.
Fu Yuan forced himself to keep up.
Du Xiaozhai walked leisurely through the valley, his hands behind his back. He finally stopped at the scene of the battle and turned around to say, "Who would have thought that something like this could have happened in this obscure valley? What do you think this is?"
Fu Yuan thought for a moment and said, "The heaven and earth have no intention, so they can create things; the flowing water has no intention, so it can reflect the moon."
Du Xiaozhai tilted his head and asked, "Why?"
Fu Yuan said: "If the heart is empty, it embraces everything; if the heart is full, it is filled with sorrow. Where clouds rise and sigh, the empty valley embraces all sounds."
Du Xiaozhai chuckled and said, "Zhuangzi's realm is too high. The mind can accept things, but things can also confuse the mind. If the mind forgets things, all things will reveal themselves!"
Fu Yuan also laughed and said, "Those who understand this way will not be happy when things come, nor will they be sad when things go!"
Although the Taoist "nature" and the Confucian "original mind" are expressed differently, they actually mean the same thing.
But if you look deeper, you will find that what Taoism pursues is actually something purely natural, such as "nature". Apart from that, even the word "heart" is an artificially added concept.
The Taoist belief that "Heaven and Earth have no mind" is the natural nature of Heaven and Earth, without any artificial "falsehood".
The Confucian "establishing a mind for heaven and earth" does not refer to the "human heart" of the seven emotions and six desires, but to human nature, the natural law in nature... In fact, it is all the same concept, through the emptiness of nature, to embrace all things in heaven and earth and follow the natural law!
Hmm...it's hard to explain. This kind of metaphysical thing is hard to describe in words.
In short, the nature of simplicity and nature is empty and without artificial pretense. Only in this way can it accommodate the heaven and the earth and achieve the unity of man and nature.
Once the seven emotions and six desires are present in one’s nature, one will be immersed in these emotions and desires, unable to see one’s true nature clearly, and thus “lose contact between heaven and earth”.
Everything in the universe not only exists in itself, but also includes the changes within it, that is, time.
Heaven and earth are the inns of all things, and time is the passer-by of hundreds of generations.
……
Du Xiaozhai spread the picnic blanket on the ground and started taking things out of his backpack.
When Fu Yuan was about to help, Du Xiaozhai refused and said, "You take a good rest, I'll do it."
From beginning to end, no one asked why Fu Yuan could also "see" the past.
He took out a cucumber, held the fruit knife in his right hand, and made it fly up and down, and thin slices of cucumber fell...
Du Xiaozhai said as he worked, "From childhood to adulthood, everything I've seen has been very strange, because everything I've seen has been shrouded in countless images...
For example, when I look at a stool, what I see are endless images, such as a tree from being planted, to growing, to being felled, processed, and then sent to where it is after becoming a stool... who has sat on it... and finally when and under what circumstances will this stool break down, be sent to the garbage dump, be burned... and so on, endless images!
Looking further ahead, I can still see when the tree was planted, and the seeds were brought by the bird... I can even extend it further and see everything that the bird experienced during its birth and death..."
Fu Yuan didn't exclaim in surprise, but frowned and said, "Then it must be very hard for you?"
Du Xiaozhai shook his head, his expression not negative but cheerful: "Before I was seven years old, I was always considered blind!"
Fu Yuan: “…”
Du Xiaozhai said with great interest: "Look, when I look at anything, I can see endless images... Human vision is so wide, how much can we see at a glance?
So my vision has always been filled with images, and I can't see the reality at all... Isn't this just like a blind person?
Anyway, I always thought I was born blind and never knew what normal people’s vision was like. Until I met my master…”
Fu Yuan asked curiously, "Which master? The Quanzhen one?"
Du Xiaozhai smiled happily and said, "No, it was Master Gezan of the Tibetan Tantric Buddhism. She said that I was born with the "wisdom eye" and that it was a Buddhist supernatural power, so she accepted me as her disciple."
Fu Yuan said honestly, "Sorry, I haven't heard of it."
Du Xiaozhai didn't mind at all and said, "It's okay. You can go and search online and you'll find out. My master is the vice president of the Kang County Buddhist Association and the vice president of the Municipal CPPCC. In our area, she's very famous. Many people believe in her, and some even call her the 'Living Buddha.'"
Fu Yuan always felt that putting the titles of "Living Buddha" and "Chairman" together was particularly awkward: "And then?"
Du Xiaozhai busied himself with practiced skill, saying, "Later, I began to cultivate, and gradually I was able to control my 'wisdom eye.' However, because my brain was overwhelmed with information since childhood, I was born with insufficient Qi and a weak body. My master then recommended me to the Quanzhen lineage to study alchemy..."
Fu Yuan asked curiously, "Is there anything special about this?"
Du Xiaozhai set up the stove, poured oil into the wok, added sauce and other ingredients, and stir-fried them until they melted together into a sticky sauce. He said, "Don't Quanzhen people have the skill of producing a 'Yang Shen'? The burden of my wisdom eye is too great, so my master said I should polish my life well. I don't want to produce a Yang Shen, but as long as I cultivate a 'Bardo Body', the burden will be greatly reduced... Alright!"
There were two bowls of mixed noodles, one of which was placed in front of Fu Yuan.
Fu Yuan stirred it, took a bite, and nodded, "It tastes good!"
Du Xiaozhai smiled complacently.
“What does the intermediate state mean?”
Du Xiaozhai thought for a moment and said, "It's a ghost!"
Fu Yuan was stunned: "Ghost?"
Du Xiaozhai was amused and said, "If I really want to explain it in detail, it's hard to explain clearly. Quanzhen people's kung fu of "Yang Shen" is not cultivated to the highest level. What leaves the body is actually the "Yin Shen", but it still has a connection with the physical body, so it can't be considered a wandering ghost..."
"Bardo body" is a term used in Tantric Buddhism. The human body is called the "formal body", which is the smelly skin bag in Buddhism and is not taken seriously. However, in the practice of alchemy, the physical body is the innate furnace and the foundation of practice.
Buddhists discard their mortal flesh and achieve the bardo body, which is the same as the Taoist Quanzhen Yin God and Yang God. But if you look into it in detail, there are some differences... Oh, it's hard to explain clearly!
I can recognize the bardo realm and travel in dreams, but it is not a true soul leaving the body, but a manifestation of the power of the mind..."
Seeing that Du Xiaozhai was talking in a mess, Fu Yuan nodded and said, "I roughly understand. You don't need to say more."
Du Xiaozhai was surprised and said, "You understand now? When I first converted from Buddhism to Taoism, I felt awkward for many years."
Fu Yuan: "I don't need to delve into it, just understand the general idea."
"That's right."
Du Xiaozhai held the noodles with soybean paste, but didn't eat them. He just rolled them up with a fork and played with them. "Anyway, that's probably it. My wisdom eyes can see the past and the future. When Uncle Zeng got into trouble, I used my wisdom eyes to find out that it was Dou Mei, one of the four crazy people in Quanxing, who was responsible for the poison.
The past cannot be changed, but the future can be changed!
I can see countless possibilities for Uncle Zeng's future, but there is a missing part, a blank, and then Uncle Zeng will be fine... This is a situation I have never encountered before.
So I chose that possibility, and then you came along.”
Du Xiaozhai's eyes fell on Fu Yuan's expression, as clear as stars: "I can't see your past and future, I can only see you at this moment!
In my eyes, there is only you!"
Chapter 60 Immortal guides the way
When Confucius was traveling with his disciples, they were stopped and threatened with swords and spears, and were not allowed to enter the city with him. Confucius immediately agreed.
After everyone left, Confucius took his disciples around and entered the city through a different gate.
A disciple asked Confucius why he did not keep his promise.
Confucius said that promises made under duress do not need to be kept!
What is this? What is a word is as good as gold? What is a word must be true and what is a promise must be fulfilled? These are good words and good morals, but they have all been misled by Confucianism.
