Fortunately, Lycos didn't have to worry about getting hurt by sliding down at such a high speed.
When approaching the bottom of the pipe, a gray mist emerged, quietly supporting Lycos's feet and slowing down his sliding.
Lycos flew out of the pipe and landed on the wet ground.
"Lumos!"
He raised his hand and lit his wand.
It was a dark stone tunnel, big enough for Hagrid to stand in it, with black, damp walls around it.
The tunnel was as silent as a tomb, and even the light from the wand's illumination spell could not illuminate its age-old darkness, which was chilling.
Lycos walked forward slowly, his footsteps echoing in the tunnel, a little creepy.
He suddenly felt a little regretful. Why did he agree to come here with Riddle? Is this a place for people?
"Click."
The sudden sound made his heart skip a beat.
Lycos lowered his wand and looked at the ground, only to find that he had stepped on a rat bone, crushing the dried-up skeleton into pieces.
There are bones of small animals everywhere, which should be the food that the basilisk can obtain to survive here.
He no longer paid attention to these trivial matters, gathered his thoughts, continued walking forward, and turned a dark bend in the tunnel.
The next moment, the outline of a coiled behemoth appeared before Lycos's eyes.
It lay there on the other side of the tunnel, motionless.
Lycos subconsciously closed his eyes, fearing that he would encounter the basilisk coming out of the secret room to hunt for food and end up dying here...
"Protego Diabolica (Fire Shield)."
Black flames rose around him, and the scorching temperature gave Lycos a rare sense of security.
There weren't many words about the Chamber of Secrets in the original book, and Lycos couldn't remember it clearly... Unlike Hogwarts Castle, where he had drawn a map by hand, Lycos was about to face an unknown place, so he had to be cautious.
"Sectumsempra."
Lycos tentatively cast an invisible blade and was ready to evacuate with flying magic at any time if there was any unusual movement.
A crisp cutting sound was heard in the distance.
There was no rage as imagined, nor any other unusual movements...the basilisk should not be here.
Lycos breathed a sigh of relief.
He felt that he must learn Parseltongue the next time he came. Otherwise, in a situation like this, a few casual Parseltongue attempts would be enough, so why would he need to risk using offensive magic?
He opened his eyes and raised his wand high.
"Lumos Solemn."
The light from the enhanced lighting spell shone on a huge snake skin, which was green and very bright. It was obviously the skin of a poisonous snake, lying coiled on the ground of the tunnel, and it was empty inside.
It was evident that the animal which had just shed its skin was at least twenty feet long.
It turns out that I was just making a fuss out of nothing.
Lycos laughed at himself, and with the movement of the gray mist, he flew up from where he was and passed over the huge snake skin.
If the snakeskin wallet Draco gave him wasn't big enough, he would have wanted to just take the shed skin away... It was obvious that this thing must be very valuable.
The rest of the journey was unremarkable, just turning one corner after another in the tunnel.
Finally, Lycos reached the end of the tunnel.
There stood a solid wall, carved with two snakes entwined with each other, with large, sparkling emeralds in their eyes.
He pulled out a green-striped Slytherin scarf and pulled it over his eyes.
"Open."
Accompanied by a low, hoarse hissing sound.
The two snakes untied like a knot, and the stone wall split in the middle, slowly sliding to both sides and disappearing.

Chapter 137 Gap
"It's too early to throw blinders on now."
Riddle's voice suddenly rang in Lex's ears.
This sudden voice made him stunned for a moment... He was clearly not in the world of the diary, so why did Riddle's voice appear?
But Lycos had his eyes covered with a scarf and could not see the surroundings, so he had no idea what was happening next to him.
"Since the basilisk has a powerful gaze that kills anyone who touches it, how could Slytherin not be wary of it?"
The voice sounded again.
Before Lecos could react, he found that the Horcrux diary in his hand had been taken away.
"This is just a compartment... Our voices can reach further into the chamber. The basilisk won't come out of here unless it's summoned."
Riddle's voice was getting farther and farther away, and it sounded like he was moving further ahead.
Lycos frowned, and he instinctively felt that he could not allow this voice to continue... So he took the risk of taking off his scarf and looked around at a very fast speed.
Riddle was right, there was indeed no basilisk nearby.
Lycos was standing at one side of a long, dimly lit room.
Many stone pillars carved with coiled snakes stood tall to support the ceiling which melted into the darkness above, casting long and eerie black shadows on the entire room which was filled with green and mysterious mist.
A tall black-haired boy was walking forward, passing by tall stone pillars, with his back to Lycos.
The boy's outline was strangely blurry, as if there was a foggy window between him and Lycos...
"Tom Riddle?" Lykos asked softly.
The silence was chilling, Lycos's voice echoing between the stone pillars, each word echoing hollowly and resoundingly among the ghostly walls.
"It's me." Riddle stopped.
He had reached the last pair of stone pillars. At the far end of the room was a statue as tall as the room itself, clinging to the dark wall behind it.
It's a statue of Salazar Slytherin.
Riddle just stood in front of the statue, looking at its appearance quietly.
It was an old, monkey-like face, with a long sparse beard that almost reached the hem of the wizard's robe carved out of stone, and two large gray feet standing on the smooth floor of the room.
Lycos frowned slowly.
"When did you gather enough strength to solidify into a solid form?" he asked coldly. "So your previous attempt to control my body and speak Parseltongue was just a lie, right?"
"Yes, I can only lie to you." Riddle chuckled. "If I tell you that I can condense a physical body, I think you will definitely be more cautious of me... You are always hesitating. When will you succeed?"
He turned around with a strange smile on his face.
"Of course, I understand you. You still want to stay in Hogwarts, so you want to protect yourself... I thought the same way back then, but I'm just a Horcrux now. Why should I keep it a secret with you?"
"Lex, your plan is indeed very good... You easily found my weakness, making it impossible for me to break through your blockade and surveillance."
"But you've overlooked just one point—those who haven't consumed it clearly don't understand the rich life force contained in those bottles of unicorn blood. It's more than enough for me to gather the strength to condense into a physical form!"
Lycos pursed his lips.
He really didn't expect that just by dripping a few bottles of unicorn blood into the diary, Riddle would accumulate so much energy, almost comparable to Tom Riddle at the end of his second grade in the original book.
Even so, every time Riddle drank unicorn blood, he would complain on the pages of his diary about the lack of resources and the lack of strength...
Lycos felt that he really shouldn't have believed his lies.
It seems that Riddle never completely trusted Lecos from the beginning to the end and always had reservations.
Tom Riddle was indeed at the peak of intelligence and appearance when he was in school, unlike Voldemort today, whose excessive use of dark magic and excessive soul splitting have caused both his intelligence and appearance to decline.
"So what do you want to do?" Lycos asked word by word.
"What do you want to do?" Riddle sneered. "Lycos, you know exactly what I'm going to do... I'll release the basilisk to do what you dare not do!"
Having said this, he turned to face the statue, and suddenly cast his burning gaze on the Slytherin's face on the statue.
Riddle opened his mouth and hissed—
"Talk to me, S..."
Lycos hadn't mastered Parseltongue yet and couldn't understand what Riddle was saying, but he knew he couldn't let Riddle continue.
"Riddle, stop!"
Riddle didn't even pause, clearly not intending to listen to Lekos.
As a concrete entity of memories in a diary, Riddle can be said to be just a ghost-like memory, which will not be harmed by spells and will not be affected by other magic.
In addition, the diary as the main body is a Horcrux, which can resist attacks from various powerful magics, so Riddle seems to be fearless.
"Speak to me, Slytherin—most of the Hogwarts Four—"
However, before Riddle could finish the command in Parseltongue, his voice suddenly got stuck in his throat and stopped abruptly.
A ball of black, blazing flames silently formed a circle around Riddle's feet, tightly enclosing him... Its flames danced constantly, and all the hottest outer flames focused on the black-covered diary in Riddle's hand.
"Don't think I can't do anything to you, Riddle."
Lycos pointed his wand at the ground and slowly walked towards the end of the room. "This black flame is no less lethal than Fiendfyre. Do you really not care?"
Riddle's face looked a little grim.
There are three weaknesses to Horcruxes - the fangs of the basilisk, the Fiendfyre, and the high-powered Killing Curse.
The flames really made it difficult for Riddle to move, and he also knew that Lycos was very skilled in the Killing Curse... Riddle wiped the sweat from his forehead, and he felt that he had to change his original idea.
"But you won't actually burn me, will you?" said Riddle. "Didn't the Dark Lord specifically tell you to protect me?"
"Don't pressure me with the Dark Lord."
Lycos's expression remained unchanged.
"If you're determined to summon the basilisk, I can't guarantee that I won't change the position of the flames due to a trembling hand!"
