Prosecutor Lane asked:

"Giles Nelson, please describe your interactions with Batman during your mission."

The detective was honest and upright: "Your Honor, members of the jury, I have worked with Batman for many years, and his actions have indeed helped us solve many major cases. However, I must admit that some of his actions did go beyond the boundaries of the law. For example, he has illegally entered private property to obtain evidence on many occasions, and he has also used excessive violence against suspects."

The defense attorney stood up and asked, "Detective, do you believe Batman's actions were intended to protect the public safety of Gotham City?"

"Yes, I acknowledge that his actions protected public safety to a certain extent, but the enforcement of the law must follow due process."

"Ok, I see."

Prosecutor Lane smiled confidently, "Your Honor, I request the presentation of Exhibits 1 to 10, including surveillance footage, eyewitness testimony, and the forensic report."

"permit."

Surveillance footage scrolled on the screen. It was captured by surveillance cameras in the homes of different victims. The angles were tricky and strange, and there was occasional blur and snow due to the signal jammer, but it was enough to serve as evidence.

"We can see that the defendant has repeatedly illegally entered private property and used violence against Gotham citizens."

Defense lawyer stood up to cross-examine:

"Your Honor, I believe the evidence presented by the prosecutor does not fully reflect the circumstances of the situation."

"In numerous incidents, including the Scarecrow poisoning the water source, the Joker releasing poisonous balloons in the park, the alligator injuring people in the sewer, and the Gotham plant riot, my client was in an emergency situation and had to take necessary measures for the safety and vital interests of the citizens of Gotham."

"Members of the jury, my client is a hero who acted to protect the citizens of Gotham City. We ask that the court consider his motives and the necessity of his actions and render a fair verdict."

Prosecutor Lann stood up and argued:

"The evidence clearly shows that Bruce Wayne's actions violated the law."

"Although he has the intention to uphold justice, I believe that the enforcement of the law must follow due process. We ask the court to make a fair judgment on the defendant."

The defense lawyer stood up again and was about to continue his defense when he suddenly heard a noise outside.

"What happened?" the judge asked.

"There's a crowd gathering outside, storming the court!" the guard shouted in panic.

Everyone present once again looked at the defendant's seat.

But the person in the dock was no longer indifferent, but raised his face and gave a sharp smile.

"I knew there would be an accident..." Jason, who was sitting in the audience, couldn't help but complain to Dick.

This is exactly Red Hood and Nightwing, who changed back into ordinary people's attire and entered the court as Bruce Wayne's sons.

"The court is temporarily adjourned." The judge said: "Notify the Gotham Police Department!"

Chapter 25: Attack on the Court

It's one o'clock in the afternoon.

It was the time of the day when the sun was at its brightest, and even in Gotham, a little light leaked out from the gaps in the layers of clouds.

"This is Gotham City Supreme Court. A large group of armed thugs have gathered outside and want to storm the courtroom to prevent the verdict."

"We can't help but wonder if this is the group Bruce Wayne has been secretly confusing and gathering since he became Batman... just so he can escape in similar situations and truly take control of Gotham City."

The reporter frowned in front of the camera and raised sharp questions with a worried look.

As if separated by a layer of membrane, the group of thugs, some with physical disabilities and some with intellectual disabilities, made vague and noisy sounds.

No one has the patience to listen to what they say, or rather, the fact that they are gathering here is itself telling something.

-

Outside the court, a crowd gathered, holding signs and charging at the cordon with thunderous cheers.

Inside the courthouse, the crowd was in an uproar, filled with indignation, and glared at Batman with gritted teeth.

But the one who was the center of attention was content:

"Everyone."

He slowly scanned the area with his striking green eyes and said softly with a smile:

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

This frivolous and dissolute demeanor is very similar to the image that appeared in the media not long ago before his identity was revealed.

"Wayne, you are too arrogant!"

An upper-class man in a suit stood up in the hearing room and said, "You are defying the law and coercing citizens to influence the outcome of your trial!"

Wayne showed a look of sudden realization, and then said with interest:

"So you think a fair judge would change the outcome and give a lighter sentence?"

"Of course it's impossible!"

"Impossible?" the lawless criminal laughed. "But I don't think you have that attitude."

"slander!"

"Then may I ask... since I'm not the beneficiary, why did I orchestrate this coercion?" He probed, "Could it be... that I want a heavier punishment?"

He smiled and said, "It seems that Blackgate Prison can no longer satisfy me. Gotham should have the death penalty..."

The gentleman in a suit had nothing to say, but soon another lady in a gorgeous dress stood up.

She said in a clear and sweet voice: "Mr. Wayne, you are making sophistry."

"What is sophistry?" Bruce asked. He then answered, "It's using vague language to obscure people's understanding and distorting facts to defend a false view."

"Excuse me, what do you think my point of view is?"

The lady sneered: "You think you are innocent and have nothing to do with this matter... Do you think that the people outside have nothing to do with you?"

Bruce opened his arms and smiled strangely: "My friend, you might as well listen to the slogans they say and see what they propose."

……

Correct.

The celebrities suddenly realized something and broke the barrier between themselves and the thugs, and turned their attention to the words shouted by the lower class as if giving alms.

The crowd shouted in anger:

"Sentence Wayne to death!"

?

"Shoot Batman!"

? !

Almost everyone who heard it couldn't help but feel surprised and confused.

So the reporter couldn't help but ask: "Why?"

The middle-aged man's eyes were red, like a madman: "What superhero?! This is a super villain!"

"He protects all the criminals in Gotham! He's causing us so much trouble and yet he still thinks he's a noble man!"

"We are suffering for this, and he is the culprit!"

"Ah, it turns out they are just a group of poor people participating in a legal march." The reporter sighed to the camera with pity.

Then gentle concern: "Can you tell me more about it?"

"Okay!" The middle-aged man grabbed the microphone as the reporter's brows furrowed slightly.

"Ever since he showed up in Gotham thinking he was the Dark Knight, there's been an endless stream of psychopaths here..."

"Thirty or forty years ago, when I was young, all there was in Gotham was the fucking gangsters!"

"And now?! The Joker! The Scarecrow! Poison Ivy! The Mad Hatter! What's the point of classifying them as first-rate, second-rate, or third-rate? This city is Wayne's big reality show! He and his so-called nemesis are the only protagonists!"

The broken saliva sprayed into the microphone, causing a harsh buzzing sound.

"...and every time those lunatics are on the verge of death, that damn Wayne will come down from the sky and save them from the dire straits!"

"And what about us!" he shouted angrily. "We who are bankrupt, injured, poisoned, and dead... apart from strings of data, does anyone give a damn about us?!"

"Now that that group of psychopaths is dead, we cannot allow the next group of psychopaths to emerge."

"All this fucking shit is because Gotham has Batman! Let Batman die!"

……

"It seems Bruce Wayne's evil deeds have become deeply rooted in people's minds, which makes us wonder... Are superheroes really necessary?"

The reporter flashed a near-perfect smile in front of the camera: "If someone as hated by everyone as Batman can become an advisor to the so-called Justice League, can we question... whether the Justice League is just?"

"Should we abolish the so-called legal status of superheroes... Trying Batman might not be enough. We should also prosecute Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern..."

Under the illumination of the flash, the logo of the Luther Group on the reporter's clothes reflected a strange light.

"When I am a good person, bad people come to bully me. When I am a bad person, good people come to judge me."

Lucien watched the live broadcast of the court on his phone and sighed: "This is the Batman now."

"Normal. He's the target of public criticism now." The Joker looked happier than ever before. "So this is the biggest surprise I've given people when I was alive."

He still felt a little regretful: "I should have revealed his identity earlier... I thought it would make the game less interesting, but now it seems that this is much more interesting than anything else."

"...I remember there was a comic that revealed his true identity." Lucian thought for a moment, "And then Batman went bankrupt."

"What about this time? Do you think we will go bankrupt?" the clown asked with interest.

Lucien hesitated. "Yes?"

"Why hesitate?"

"Because I feel like if I say yes you'll tell me no, and if I say no you'll tell me yes."

The clown looked at him in surprise: "How is this possible? Am I such a person in your mind?"

"So, do you think we'll go bankrupt?"

"of course not!"

"I'm just saying..." Lucian was about to complain when he was interrupted by the clown:
