Chapter 246 Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them share the same universe as Harry Potter, and can be considered a prequel to Harry Potter. It mainly tells the story of Newt Scamander, a magizoologist, who embarks on a thrilling adventure to find and protect magical creatures after leaving Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

To be honest, Sue wasn't very familiar with Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts anywhere, but she had a deeper impression of Harry Potter, especially the villain Voldemort.

While Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, as a prequel, does include the Ministry of Magic, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and even a middle-aged version of Dumbledore, the focus is more on the various magical creatures, especially the Zouwu that appeared in the second book, which left a very deep impression on Su Shi.

Besides the Zouwu, there is another character, Nagini, whose identity is unclear—whether he is an animal or a human.

Nagini first appeared in Harry Potter as one of Voldemort's seven Horcruxes, a twelve-foot-long snake.

However, in the prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, she is a beautiful snake. Originally, she was a blood-cursed orc performer in a circus. Due to the blood curse inherited from her family's maternal lineage, she could switch between human and snake forms, but would eventually become a complete animal.

Nagini's human form has an Asian face, and Sue remembers that she is played by the same actress as Helen Zhao from the Avengers.

Both Nagini and Zouwu are excellent choices for summoning beasts. The former is a snake, and snakes are an important symbol and component in Naruto. The latter comes from the Classic of Mountains and Seas and has special significance.

In the past, Sue could do nothing but express her regret, since the story of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them takes place around 1926.

But now, regardless of whether this world incorporates the content of the show, he can travel back in time to find out for himself.

If it does, it will bring Zouwu and Nagini back, and let them experience the charm of magic along the way. If not, it will simply be a trip back in time to see the scenery of that era, so there's no loss in the end.

Thinking of this, Su got up, dressed, and activated her chakra to release her ability to travel through time.

-

Time: 1926.

Location: New York.

"call out--"

Su suddenly disappeared from the hotel room in a way similar to but different from the Flying Thunder God Technique. After a brief period of dizziness, the scene before him had undergone a complete transformation.

The long street is lined with buildings full of historical charm, and the road is bustling with traffic. There are real horses, not only horse-drawn carriages, but also people riding horses. Of course, there are also cars, and they are very old-fashioned vintage cars. Taking one home would be a great collectible.

Su calmed himself down, temporarily suppressing his excitement and curiosity about time travel, and checked his chakra consumption.

The ability to travel through time, which is like a bug, is indeed very energy-consuming. It directly depleted nearly a third of his chakra. Keep in mind that his chakra is already enormous. If he were to use ninjutsu to consume that third of his chakra, it would be enough to destroy a small city.

In addition, he can now travel back to his original point in time at any time.

"Roll your eyes, open them."

Su activated his Byakugan, then released his ethereal powers and entered another dimension.

Everything in the alternate dimension is normal, and one can even enter and exit the Green Space as usual. However, the location when one leaves the alternate dimension is still New York in 1926, and it is impossible to travel back to the original point in time through the alternate dimension.

Yes, that's normal. After all, the alternate dimension is a space-based ninjutsu, and being able to travel through space doesn't mean you can travel through time.

Chakra consumption and the alternate dimension are both fine; the next step is to verify the most crucial issue.

money!

As the saying goes, "Money can take you anywhere, but without it, you can't move an inch."

In 1926 New York, one's own checkbook and bank cards probably wouldn't be usable, right? Even cash stored in another dimension eighty years ago wouldn't be usable in this era.

As a wealthy tycoon, it would be too embarrassing if he went back in time and had no money. Although he could get money, it would be a bit shameful for a wealthy tycoon with a system to still need to rely on external means to make money.

Su opened the system and clicked to withdraw one million US dollars.

"Oh!"

As the white mist dissipated, a million dollars appeared in front of Su, but this kind of cash was somewhat different from the one he usually used; it was probably the currency commonly used in this era.

The system does a good job in this respect. Being a super-rich person doesn't discriminate based on era. It's unrealistic to expect someone to be a super-rich person in one era and a pauper in another. That would be too unintelligent.

However, Su was quite curious about the purchasing power of the US dollar in 1926. Although a million dollars would not be a small amount in the future, it was definitely not a lot. In this era, the value of a millionaire should be very high, right?

Su emerged from the alternate dimension with several stacks of cash in his pocket, then relaxed and pleased as he admired New York of this era.

The men and women on the street were dressed in a style characteristic of the era. The men were mostly wearing trench coats, leather shoes, and hats, and the women were similar. At a glance, the colors on the street were either black, gray, brown, or blue, which was completely unlike the bright colors and fashion of the future.

By the way, people dress very conservatively these days. Well, it might also be related to the weather. New York is indeed a bit cold right now, not only the weather but also the gazes.

Su's attire was not problematic; he wore normal leather shoes, dress pants, a shirt, and a casual suit jacket. While somewhat unusual, it was not outrageous.

The coldness in his gaze is probably due to his skin color.

Su responded to their stares with indifference. Although this kind of face-slapping plot caused by skin color might be cliché, he was actually looking forward to some ignorant idiots causing him trouble, so that he could experience what it felt like to show off and get slapped in the face in 1926.

"This great city shines with the brilliance of human inventions; cinemas, cars, radio, electric lights—all of them dazzle and captivate us."

A woman's impassioned voice came from the crowd not far away. Su walked into the crowd out of curiosity, wanting to join in the fun, but she was bumped into as soon as she got to the edge of the crowd.

provocative?

Is the scene of someone showing off and getting slapped in the face about to unfold?

Su turned her head with a slight smile, wanting to see what this clueless idiot looked like, only to find that the person who bumped into her was a woman wearing a black hat, a gray coat, and holding a hot dog.

Next to the woman was a curly-haired man wearing a dark blue coat and carrying a suitcase. He was apologizing to the woman, looking embarrassed.

He seemed to realize that after he bumped into the woman, she also bumped into Ms. Su, and looked at Ms. Su with the same apologetic expression: "I'm sorry."

"..."

It looks like the plan to show off and get slapped in the face is doomed to fail.

Chapter 247 Credence the Obscurial

"Where there is sunlight, there is shadow. Something is lurking in our city, ready to cause great harm, and then disappear without a trace."

"Listen up, we must fight! Join us, join Second Salem, fight together! We must fight side by side..."

A middle-aged woman wearing a hat and purple clothes surveyed the crowd, gesturing wildly as she delivered a passionate and impassioned speech. Behind the crowd, a fat man carrying a briefcase passed by the Su family's residence, muttering, "Excuse me, excuse me, I need to go into the bank," before nearly tripping over the briefcase the curly-haired boy had placed on the ground.

"Sorry, this is my suitcase." The curly-haired boy picked up his suitcase.

The fat man shook his head: "It's nothing." After saying that, he jogged up the steps, which led to the bank's main entrance.

A minor incident interrupted the middle-aged woman's speech. She happened to be looking at the curly-haired boy and pointed at him, saying, "My friend, what has motivated you to attend our gathering today?"

The 14-year-old boy with curly hair explained somewhat awkwardly, "I... I was just passing by."

Are you a seeker? A seeker of truth.

“Actually, I’m more like a seeker,” the curly-haired boy replied.

Their conversation was normal, but it had a strong, witty, and literary air about it; if people talked like that in real life, they'd be exhausted. After listening for a few sentences, Su's attention turned to a flag behind the woman giving the speech. The flag's symbol was a broken wooden stick, or rather, a magic wand or staff.

The Second Salem is an anti-wizarding organization, officially known as the New Salem Charitable Society. Its mission is to expose and destroy wizarding society, and its symbol is the broken wand on its flag.

Why do they call themselves the second Salem?

Because they are descendants of some wizards who escaped punishment in 1692 (the Salem witch trials), and these wizards intermarried with Muggles in order to escape the trial, they were expelled from the wizarding world and were also known as "Dark Wizards".

They harbored resentment towards wizarding societies, so they instilled in their descendants the doctrine that "magic exists and can harm humanity, and we need to eliminate wizards."

As a result, these descendants of "half-blood wizards" have become "duds" after a large number of crossbreedings.

Sue's impression of the Second Salem was that the woman giving the speech was the leader of the Second Salem, who adopted many children and had them distribute leaflets everywhere.

In addition, she has a very bad temper. Credence, one of the core characters in this film series, was adopted by her and was often abused by her.

Then there is no more then.

Aside from distributing leaflets, and the place where Credence the Obscurial was adopted, Sue had no other impressions of Second Salem. To be honest, trying to fight against wizarding groups by distributing leaflets was... well, to call it overestimating oneself was an understatement.

"Listen to me, heed my warning, laugh if you dare, the wizard is among us, for the children, for tomorrow, we will fight side by side."

As the speech drew to a close, a boy dressed in what appeared to be a tuxedo and wearing a black hat, head bowed, eyes darting around, began handing out flyers to the people around him with careful movements.

Credence.

Su recognized his identity.

Speaking of which, Credence played the Flash in the movie. The Flash is a goofball, but Credence is the kind of pathetic guy who is so insecure that he feels like he's in the dust.

He is the silent one.

The Obscurials are a new name in this show. Wizards are wizards, and ordinary people who don't know magic are called Muggles. Oh, right, in the US, they're not called Muggles, they're called Muggles. And those who have wizarding blood but haven't awakened their powers are called Squibs.

Young wizards, in an attempt to escape their doom, suppress their magical powers. However, lacking guidance, they fail to learn to control their abilities, thus giving rise to parasites—the Obscurus, a dark magical force. This is an extremely unstable and difficult-to-control form of black magic; it moves incredibly fast, detaches from its host, and attacks others.

The Obscurial is a host, possessed by the dark magical power of the Obscurus. When a wizard experiences extreme emotional fluctuations, the Obscurus within him will erupt, and the Obscurial will transform into a black, intangible cloud of mist with immense destructive power.

If they continue to refrain from using magic, the Obscurus will turn against its host, eventually taking over the host's body and becoming uncontrollable, thus bringing disaster.

The movie says there are no cases of Obscurians living past 10 years old, except for Credence, whose identity was eventually discovered.

Credence's greatest wish is to find out about his origins, but after his identity as an Obscurial is revealed, the Magical Congress of the United States wants to kill him.

The evil villain, considered one of the most powerful dark wizards in history, Voldemort's predecessor, whom Grindelwald also wanted to obtain and use.

Credence ultimately self-destructed as an Obscurus, but he didn't die. Instead, he escaped and went to Paris with a magical creature circus, which led to the subsequent story.

Zouwu and Nagini are in this circus.

If Sue wants to get Zouwu and Nagini, he has two options: one is to actively seek out the circus, and the other is to remain an observer, watch a live-action movie, lock onto Credence, and wait for everything to end so that he can guide him to the circus.

"Could I have one, please?" Su approached Credence with a smile and extended her hand. Credence looked up slightly, his eyes darting around as he handed her a flyer.

After receiving it, Su patted his arm naturally, left the Flying Thunder God mark, and then turned and walked out of the crowd.

Credence stared blankly at Su's retreating figure for a long while before lowering his head again to continue handing out flyers.

"What do you think about this, friend?" the woman giving the speech asked the curly-haired man again.

The curly-haired boy looked up, but his gaze fell on a homeless man above the woman—or rather, the hat the homeless man was begging for. A black echidna grabbed the hat with its two small hands.

The curly-haired boy subconsciously looked down at his suitcase, then pushed aside the person next to him and said, "Excuse me, could you please move aside?"

The woman giving the speech looked bewildered, as if she had been ignored and asked, "How could you be so rude?"
