His bionutrients were only around 5000 which he knows wasn't much for his current stage. Matthew wanted to do a recheck on his choices back then and he wanted to scroll all the options he got so far and see whether there's anything that he could add to his body that could enhance his strength even more even if it was only giving him a superficial boost. 

Knowing how strong his current enemy and target of revenge is, Matthew would do anything to increase his current strength. No matter how small of a chance that it would make him stronger, he would take that chance.

And besides, he had also hadn't completed the Horribilis Brown Bear monster data. Which is what he is trying to do right now.

He remembered from Nass' story that there was supposed to be another 'dangerous beast' at the other side of the bear that he had defeated. Matthew had also asked Nass for the description of this other dangerous beast and if Matthew wasn't wrong, it was supposed to be another bear.

Hence why he took this chance to complete the Horribilis Brown Bear monster data first before piling up his bionutrients to at least 15000 bionutrients before going into this fourth evolution.

With his scanner function had already been turned on, Matthew traversed the forest at a high speed. He peeled his eyes open and started warming up his heat sense that he hadn't used for quite some time. 

He moved so fast that he was already three-quarters of the way towards the bear's burrow in much or less 30 minutes by not stopping anywhere even if his scanner or his eyes detected a group of deers walking past him or a snake slithering on the ground below the trees.

His journey so far was smooth until he arrived at the bear's burrow.

There was nothing wrong with the bear's burrow as it was still the same as when he and the three kobolds left them. 

However, when Matthew was taking a short little break near the burrow before going to the kobold village, he suddenly heard a group of something was moving in his direction.

It didn't sound like a group of deers or boars from their tempo of walking and from the scarce footsteps, it seemed like there were less than 5 creatures walking towards him.

The sound that his wolf ears caught was from the direction of the kobold village, but since the kobolds had all been killed by the humans, Matthew knew that whatever coming would certainly not be a kobold.

And as the sound got closer to him, he heard the sound of metal rubbing against each other and an inaudible chatter could also be heard from the direction of the sound.
