Min Jue threw herself into her cousin's arms which made Meilin stagger. They were both wearing tall heels and it had already been a long night. Meilin tripped and heard a tear but managed to right herself before falling to the ground. Within a minute her ankle had swollen to the size of an egg.

Meilin wrapped her arm around Jue and whispered in her ear. Even drunk Jue understood pain and started staggering up the stairs dragging a limping Meilin along with her.

At the top of the stairs two butlers were standing at the ready. One of them disentangled Meilin from Jue and brought her over to a chaise lounge further down the hall. The other butler hauled Jue to the nearest bathroom and called the family doctor.

Back at the bottom of the stairs, the paparazzi were buzzing with excitement. Even though their cameras and recording devices had been taken away, they had still witnessed the events first hand.

Some of them tried to leave the moment the front door was opened but they were barred from exiting by guards whose only intention was to keep the information from circulating and tarnishing reputations.

Back upstairs, Meilin had a hard time controlling her tears. She'd had many sprained and even broken ankles but she had felt her ligament tear halfway through.

As her maid rushed over to pull her heels off her swollen ankle, Meilin leaned back, exhausted from the night's events.

First she had been reminded of her cousin's family situation, then, she had met her ex Li Huang and his new girlfriend who had some kind of problem with her. After that Min Jue had escalated, severely shaken by events that had transpired at home, and had drank herself into oblivion, causing a scene and Meilin to hurt her ankle badly. In conclusion, the whole night had been a disaster.
