Shield Hero With Barrier Magic

(Hiro's POV)

Haa... I already experienced love once. And yet, my heart won't stop beating like crazy when I am experiencing it again. Rino is resting on my shoulder making me more restless. Damn, give me a break! On one side, I am excited about my babies and on the other side, Rino rests on my shoulder. And we are holding hands at that!

Well, it's not like I am planning to sleep today anyway. Well, Rino also wanted to stay awake the whole night. Well, I guess she got bored. Man, but one thing really surprised me. The name of Rino's filolial is also Filo. Well, I guess there are many people who can't be creative.

It looks like Rino loved her filolial a lot. So, I am thinking of naming one of these two as Filo if I get a girl. Not just for her but also because I removed Filo from this world indirectly. Hmm. What should I name the second one? Rem? Yuno? I have a lot of names. I will name her the character whose hair color it resembles the most.

Wait a second, how the hell do I know their genders ?!! The only way I know is a DNA test. The females have the ZW chromosome while males have ZZ chromosomes as the gender differentiating chromosome. How much time has it been? It was early morning. I feel the egg shaking. It looks like it is going to hatch. They are coming out! I immediately wake Rino up.

Rino: "Huh? When did I sleep?"

The moment she heard it, Rino came closer to watch it. Fine cracks formed on both sides of eggs. We could just see something through the crack, something soft, like feathers. The cracks spread and opened with an audible crackle, and two baby monsters' face popped through the hole.

While the other one seemed rather calm. It's pinkier than it's twin although both of them have similar blue eyes. It came towards me and rubbed itself to my face while chirping.

It's really a surprise. Both of them are pink. Same color as that of Filo. I think the one on my head might grow up as Filo as it's doing the same things that Filo did.

Rino: "It looks like both of them think that you are their parent, Hiro-sama."

Hiro: "Imprinting huh. Hahaha... Well, I am their parent, aren't I?"

It's only natural that they think I am their father since I am the first thing they saw after being born. I absorbed their eggshells into my shield and unlocked 'Monster User Shield'. With this, they will grow and get stronger faster.

Anyway, my babies are so cute! The one on my head kept dancing there while the other one calmly climbed into my hands and kept rubbing its face against mine.

Raphtalia/Eclair: "Wow, they are so cute. Let me hold them!"

They came to take my babies from me but when they tried, none of them went towards them. I guess they became too attached to me.

Raphtalia: "Well, maybe they don't like to get away from their parent."

I could feel the jealousy in her words. Hahaha... No fluffy paradise for you.

Eclair: "I think we should name them."

Hiro: "What are their genders though?"

Rino: "Both are females. Congrats, Raphtalia."

Oh, it looks like we can say if they are male or female easily. Let me think. The only male Filolial I know is Kou from the spinoff series. What differs him from others? All I could think of is the antenna-like long feathers on their head. Kou doesn't have antenna feathers like that.

Raphtalia: "How can you say, Rino-nee?"

Rino: "You see these antenna-like feathers on their head? Females have them while males don't. These are a very common variety of Filolial, but they have trouble staying calm without a cart to pull."

Ah, right. Monsters here consider carts more like their nests and become protective of them.

Eclair: "Well, at least they don't have a human appearance. But you look like you know a lot about Filolials, Rino."

Rino: "Well, I used to have one named Filo. So, I studied a bit about Filolials."

Raphtalia: "Filo? It doesn't look like a creative name."

Rino: "I was a kid when I named it!"

Hiro: "So, let's name one of these two as Filo. Alright, which one of you wants the name Filo?"

The one on my top chirped loudly as if it understood what I said.

Hiro: "Alright, your name will be Filo from now."

Eclair: "It looks like it wants a name too."

Hiro: "Oh, I already decided. As its pink color is similar to Yuno's hair. Her name will be Yuno."

Eclair: "No!"

She shouted at once.

Eclair: "Hiro! You can't give her the name of your first love!"

Oh, it looks like someone is jealous. I looked at the bird. Well, I feel like it didn't like the name.

Hiro: "Alright, I will think of another name."

Eclair: "No Yandere names!"

Hiro: "Haa... Fine."

I immediately remembered Sakura. She is Filo's alternative. For some reason, I feel that this name is suitable for her.

Hiro: "How about Sakura?"

It started giving satisfying chirps. And it's decided that the names will be Filo and Sakura. Well, it's really funny. To be honest, these two resemble them a lot. But I still can't be sure unless I see their human form.

Raphtalia: "Filo and Sakura huh."

Eclair: "What do they eat?"

Rino: "We should start her on cooked beans, mashed into a puree. Something soft. Once she grows up they aren't picky. They'll pretty much eat anything once they are a.d.u.l.ts."

Eclair: "Wow, you really know a lot about Filolials. You must have like your Filolial a lot."

Rino: "Yes. Hiro-sama and I talked about her and my past the whole night."

Eclair: "Wait, what do you mean the whole night?"
