Chapter 141 - “No way! She’s drunk! We can’t possibly let her leave with you!” (1)

Zhuo Yixuan stopped talking.

After the cold warning, Luo Xiu collected himself.

When he turned around, a tender and harmless smile had already replaced his earlier look. With his arm extended to her, he smiled, “That’s fine. Dinner hasn’t started yet.”

Gu Nian let out a sigh of relief. “Oh good. I’m glad to hear that.”

“Mmm.”

After the warning from Luo Xiu, Zhuo Yixuan had no choice but to put her anger on hold. But she still didn’t want to give up just like this. “Luo Xiu, the directors will not be happy if you have her sit here with you.”

Luo Xiu’s eyes flickered.

Before he could say anything, the girl next to her looked up all of a sudden and reached her tiny and white hand out to her, “Hi, Screenwriter Zhuo.”

Zhuo Yixuan was stunned.

She had no idea what Gu Nian was trying to do nor did she want to pay her any attention. Nevertheless, being in front of a table full of actors and other staffers, she reached out her hand resentfully.

“Let me introduce myself,” said Gu Nian as she was holding Zhuo Yixuan’s hand and put on a very perfunctory business smile, “I’m Gu Nian.”

Zhuo Yixuan had to stop herself from rolling her eyes. “I know who you are.”

“… and I am also Mr. Luo Xiu’s temporary assistant for the night.”

Zhuo Yixuan, “?!”

Having said that, Gu Nian didn’t want to be in physical contact with this woman who had malicious ideas toward her precious son for even just one second more than it was necessary. “Mr. Luo Xiu, who’s this spot next to you meant for?”

Zhuo Yixuan, standing behind her, recollected herself and there was a hint of hope in her eyes.

The man, however, merely smiled lightly and said, “I thought we have agreed that you’d no longer refer to me in such a distant way.”

Figuring out what he meant now, Gu Nian blushed. “I’m sorry… I forgot.”

“That’s alright. You are forgiven.” The man removed his hand. As Gu Nian walked past him and her soft hair brushed over the delicate buttons on the front of his shirt, he looked down, smiled, and said in a low and dull voice right next to her ear, “But this better be the last time.”

For some inexplicable reasons, perhaps being burnt by that magnetic and deep voice, Gu Nian felt that her cheeks were burning.

She walked quickly over to the only empty spot. Behind the seat, Zhuo Yixuan was still standing there stubbornly. Her body stiffed, she looked at Luo Xiu’s side profile looking pale and at loss motionlessly.

For a second or two Gu Nian felt bad for her – she didn’t look like a very smart one, has bad temperament, and also looked like she genuinely liked her precious son.

Nevertheless, she was forceful enough to force her son up against a wall to bully him…

She did not make an acceptable daughter-in-law. Son would be bullied in the future.

Zhuo Yixuan recollected herself.

Zhuo Yixuan forced a smile. She was certain that Luo Xiu would not expose his identity right now so she would be able to take this opportunity to expose the true colors of those low on the totem pole such as Gu Nian.

Zhuo Yixuan took a step aside so Gu Nian could see the main table behind her. “Do you see that? Sitting at that table, in addition to the male and female leads, there are also Direct Geng and Director Lin. And you know who those remaining spots were reserved for?”
