543 Giving the princess a chair design that will change her life

Lucas seemed to realize what Vincent was trying to indicate.

“So you are saying not even the legendary blessed heal could make our kind and good princess ever walk on her two feet again?” He asked.

“Sadly, it will be highly likely, yes. Heal will only regenerate the body when it is healthy, based on my experience. When I lost my arm, another identical one regrew.” Vincent tapped on his arm and continued, “The random healing scroll I found in the forest worked, yet it was the same I had with the same muscle mass and appearance.”

Vincent shook his head. “Regrettably, even if her highness cut her legs and regrew them, a new pair of legs like the current ones are most likely to regrow.”

“So because the princess’s current state is healthy and because the princess was born this way, her legs don’t require fixing.” Confirmed Lucas while overlooking the fact Vincent lied about finding a high heal scroll on the ground.

“That is my theory on how no one could help her highness and how my Plow is now living a better life with a fake leg and tails.” Vincent apologetically bowed and continued, “No one can fix your highness because you don’t need to be fixed.”

Anna couldn’t hold her tears any longer. She had a feeling it was a hopeless dream, but Vincent’s words made her doubt stronger than before.

All Anna heard in her entire life was how there might be a way to fix her legs. The dream to walk on her two own legs was one of the few things letting the unfortunate princess cope with her daily life.

This was the first time someone bluntly said to Anna’s face that her dream would remain a dream for her entire life. No one ever told Anna her legs never needed the be fixed in the rules of the healing spell.

.....

Anna needed to break the overwhelming wall of disability impeding moving forward.

Anna had already started the process of finding other ways to move with Bilka acting as her legs, but that was as far as she could progress. She needed help now that Vincent made Anna doubt her dream would never be realized.

[You made the princess cry. Try to say something.]

[Ohh! I know! Don’t you still have the rough sketch of the wheelchair design we made together for Lilith’s mother?]

-Yes. I kept it when Lilith’s mother became better. Sakura was already busy making gauntlets that I almost forgot I never gave the design to her.-

“Don’t cry, your highness...”

“Don’t order her highness on what to do after destroying her dream. It is all your fault!” Shouted Bilka while trying to comfort the crying Anna.

Lucas stood up. *Sigh* “It looks like it is time to leave.” Lucas glanced at Vincent while continuing, “Someone who should have a lot of experience with women has forgotten about how frail a woman’s heart can be.”

Aceon felt he was about to faint at this moment. The man who he made a secret alliance with made the princess of Lusterfall Kingdom cry.

“I will order the servants to escort...”

“Don’t feel defeated, your highness. When one door closes, another one opens.” Vincent said, interrupting Bobstrider.
“Bilka is your current legs; if you had another servant with wings, then you could fly. Your highness is already walking, but instead, by instinct, your highness is moving by words.”

Vincent summoned and placed the wheelchair design in front of Anna.

“Anyone with arms and hands can move with his one-person movable chair called wheelchair. With this chair, your highness can move on flat surfaces without being carried or pushed. With...”

Vincent stopped talking when Anna looked at the design with a gaze filled with hope. Vincent didn’t need to keep talking as Anna was probably already imagining going somewhere by herself and by her effort.

“Hmm. This design is intricate, and it gives the impression this design is the result only made by hundreds of hundreds of failures.” Said Lucas while standing beside Vincent. He moved so swiftly that no one saw him move, or his feet made a sound.

[Who knows how long it took to perfect the wheelchair inventions.]

“Y-yeah.” Vincent stuttered after being caught off guard.

“Can I.” *Sniffle* “Really move without anyone’s help?” Asked Anna while her lips faintly showed an excited smile.

“Yes, your highness. However, there will be only one limitation that the wheelchair can not overcome. Your highness will need assistance to change the floor.” Vincent tapped on the design and continued, “I suggest finding a capable person to make many wheelchairs. Going up and down the stairs with the wheelchair could become dangerous, so having another waiting to be used would be the best option.”

“The suggestion sounds great for the princess.” Lucas looked at Sakura and continued, “Will your ~special wife~ make the wheelchairs?”

“No!” Vincent immediately declined. He was so quick that no one had the time to process the offer of making wheelchairs for Anna, the princess of the Lusterfall Kingdom.

“And why is that? Even your wife looks surprised by your immediate decline.”

[I feel you have entered into a trap.]

-...-

‘I can’t tell Lucas that Anna might need to wait a year for one excellent wheelchair because Sakura was obsessed with perfection. Not to mention the product was going to be used by the princess of Listerfall.’ Vincent pondered to try and find a way out of this situation.

*Cough* “It would be a problem if a noble found out my wife made the wheelchair. She is an oni of the demon race, and demons are unwelcomed. I fear her highness will find herself in a difficult position while I fear the nobles who try to locate the woman named Sakura Lionheart.”

Although Vincent’s words sounded like an excuse, everyone in the dining hall quickly realized Vincent was right. The princess moving on a moving chair would catch possible catch the attention of nobles from other kingdoms.

Anna wiped her eyes with a handkerchief made from the best fabric the royal family could find.

“I don’t hate the demon kind.” Anna looked at Sakura and warmly smiled like an angel. “Although many people in the city disagree, I hope you, Sakura Lionheart, can feel welcome and happy living in Lusterfall City.”

Sakura became so anxious she almost forgot to breathe. Sakura stood up and made a curtsy.

All the time and effort Sakura spent training to do a graceful curtsy paid off as it amazed Bobstrider by its symmetry. Sakura couldn’t have pulled this off without Maid Xu’s teaching.

“I have learned not all humans are bad. It looks like your highness is one of them. It makes me pleased.” Sakura said before returning Anna a friendly smile.

*Phew* “I was worried my wife wasn’t going to have a staff made by Sakura Lionheart.” Bobstrider looked at Sakura and continued, “How about we quickly finish the previous discussion before dessert arrives.”

Bobstrider looked at Anna and asked, “Will your highness be willing to wait a little longer?”

“We do not mind. Please continue with your previous discussion.” Anna responded with a pleasant voice.

In the meantime, Anna’s gaze was locked on the wheelchair design. Anna looked like she was about to fly in the sky from her abundant happiness.

A few minutes later...

“Splendid. I hope this will be able to make my wife happy.” Bobstrider said while placing a magic core on the table.

.

[Name] Pure Air Core

[Condition] Undamaged

[Grade] Medium Stage Seven

.

Vincent and Kazumi wondered how difficult of a fight Karta had to bring down a demonic beast with the ability to regenerate and with the grade level.

“As we agreed, Sakura will make a staff with the materials you provide. The demonic beast core is powerful, and it will probably be too much for Sakura...”

“I understand.” Bobstrider interrupted Vincent.

“I will also provide enough magic cores to help Sakura Lionheart gain enough experience.” Bobstrider smiled symmetrically and continued, “Whatever remains can be used as a bonus payment, so don’t worry about using too many of what I send.”

Vincent bowed. “Three gold coins, providing all the materials and more if needed while keeping what remains is good enough for us.”

Sakura did the curtsy. “Thank you for trusting in my capabilities. I will try to make the staff as flawless as possible.”

“I hope my wife can use the staff by the last day of the academic year.” Bobstrider looked at Anna, Bilka, and Lucas. “My wife will need a staff better than her disposable wands that break after a while.”

“So the Milloween family is already preparing for the possible war with the Selos Kingdom. ” Lucas said.

Lucas abruptly announced that the rumors of war were true. The time it was going to happen was the question. But Bobstrider’s staff request gave the impression the war could start in three months.

Aceon became shocked. He was too busy taking care of his daughter these past few months. He didn’t have the mind to remember everything he overheard while looking for ways to save his daughter.

On the other hand, Vincent, Ester, Lupa, Kazumi, Iris, Lilith, and Sakura didn’t know their next move.

If they decide to go adventuring and Lusterfall City gets attacked, anyone they know could be in danger. The seven of them were telling themselves they would be prepared to escape if Vincent’s secret ever gets discovered, but the confirmation of the rumors made them hesitant on what to do.

Leaving their home and later returning to a destroyed building with those they know missing was a fear currently haunting them.
