556 A month full of uncertainty begins

An angered frown didn’t leave their faces. They were enraged at the idea of a person they knew had suffered from a horrible act. So much so that they started saying ideas of revenge or cursing at the five aggressors.

Vincent and Kazumi became awestruck to hear Iris join in discussion with imaginative revenge plots, or I could’ve done this and that kind of discussions.

Iris mentioned adding spicy herbs to their medicine, yet she forgot the five aggressors were going to be healed quickly. This kind of hostility showed how much Iris had grown to know and like Jun Ye Rim enough to become very angry.

The remaining time of the day was mostly spent cursing at the aggressors and doing something to pass the time. They mostly trained to use the built-up energy caused by their anger.

Vincent sat on the ground surrounded by trees, and Plow rested on his lap. He tried to relax and let his mind become one with the quiet serenity of nature around him.

While doing so, Vincent trained his intent until the darkness of the night crept. This training was to control his intent and also sense nearby objects.

Previously, storing the chair a couple of meters away from Vincent to let Jun Ye Rim sit took all his focus. Without the perception boost of Overheat, Vincent believed it was an almost impossible feat to accomplish.

The others did something similar. Ester trained, Lupa sparred with Nick while Vivid took his place when it got too much, Iris gave Zero a lot of Droplet of Life to grow quicker, Lilith read medical books, Clair cooked, and Pussy rested on the roof.

At night Jun Ye Rim opened her eyes. She leaned herself up and looked out of the window. When noticing the time of day, she understood a lot could have happened during the time she rested.

.....

Jun Ye Rim clasped her hands together. “Grandmother... I don’t think I can hide my emotions from spilling out... I want to have an ordinary life... I don’t want to hide anymore...”

Blemish appeared, and it rubbed its head in Jun Ye Rim’s chest. “Thank you for bringing help. I can see you again because of Vincent.” She said while wrapping her arms around Blemish and hugging it.

A while later, Jun Ye Rim got out of her bedroom. She went to the kitchen and took a glass of water. Blemish acted surprised and wagged its tail to notify Jun Ye Rim about something.

Jun Ye Rim turned her head. Behind her was a green wisp with a pair of white eyes looking at her attentively.

[Looks like you have woken up. Glad to see you look better than before.]

“Kazumi...” Jun Ye Rim gave Blemish a head pat and continued, “Did you hear this little one’s call for help? I thought souls could hear each other. That is why I sent this little one, and leave me alone.”

[Be honest for once, Jun Ye Rim. Just say you wanted help and you didn’t want Blemish to see you suffering.]

“...” Jun Ye Rim blushed and averted her gaze.

[Sigh. I am still tired from what happened today, but I can travel out of Vincent’s body for a couple of minutes.]

“Is it because of me?”

[Yeah. We have learned that when the conscious changes from the living world to the soul world, the affected will see the time slow down.]
Jun Ye Rim sat on a chair. “Is that why I thought I would never land on the ground?” She curiously asked.

[Yes. It also made Vincent run faster. I know he didn’t want to say anything but Vincent was in so much pain that his pain mitigation trait activated once.]

“Can I know what happened after being saved?” Jun Ye Rim requested while holding her hands nervously clasped together.

Kazumi nodded and proceeded to recount what happened based on her knowledge.

Jun Ye Rim learned how Vincent was still waiting to explain his actions. To shed light on why he acted this way and received punishment for taking the law into his own hands.

[Hehehe.] Kazumi suddenly giggled slyly. [I heard some students say you are Vincent’s girl. What do you say about that?]

Jun Ye Rim blushed. “What!” She exclaimed a moment later.

[Is it true? Do you have a thing for Vincent?]

“N-nonsense! I don’t like that w-womanizer.” Jun Ye Rim stuttered. She stood up and stopped while heading to her bedroom. She looked at Kazumi and said securely, “I only feel grateful to Vincent for saving and standing up for me. I am worthless, yet he chose to get in trouble for a cursed woman like me.”

[Doesn’t that mean...]

“Humph! I need to rest.” Jun Ye Rim said before quickly leaving to her bedroom.

[Hehe. What a bashful girl.]

[At least she is acting normally for now, and it doesn’t look like she is suffering from trauma. Then again, I don’t know how much she suffered to become so resilient.]

Kazumi shook her body and returned to Vincent’s body. There she went to take care of the newest addition of Soul Pets.

Kazumi was quite interested to find out what kind of Soul Pet would come out of Lilith’s fifty percent Soul Synch. She was hoping for a little lioness, yet because of Lilith’s nature, the idea of a cute, cuddly chubby horned rabbit was also on her mind.

*Day 177 – 1 December – Wednesday*

The first day of December arrived. It was the first day of a month, starting with uncertainty.

The three possible bad choices Vincent thought about were arrested, expelled, or the academy’s council passing a verdict. After calming down and assessing the situation, getting out of this situation started to look complicated.

Vincent acted in a fit of anger. The excessive force made him become a perpetrator instead of a victim or someone involved while helping.

After a lot of thought, the case was most likely going to be split in two. Jun Ye Rim’s assault case and Vincent’s barbaric horrifying act of violence.

Vincent didn’t receive any notification to meet with Darwin in the morning. Because he had nothing else to do, he chose to go with Nick to the morning lesson as usual.

Ester, Iris, and Lilith were worried something might happen, while Lupa was excited to join a fight. Lilith requested to join Vincent. She wanted to represent Ester, Lupa, and Iris while watching over him.

Vincent agreed, and the three of them left.

“They are looking at us...” Lilith said when she noticed many students in the arrival hall as if waiting for someone. She became nervous and promptly held Vincent’s hand.

“Were you hiding your strength?”

“Were you always a lion hiding in sheep’s clothing?”

“Is that why a commoner married into a noble family? Because he was a C Ranker?”

“Thank you for defending us, women!”

“You are scary yet cool!”

“Can we become friends? I would like a bodyguard like you!”

Vincent, Kazumi, Lilith, and Nick heard mixed reception. The male students were mostly acting cautiously while trying to learn as much as possible, while the female students acted positively and flirty.

The same happened while going to the morning lesson. Anyone who saw Vincent commented, both curiously, cautiously, or positively. However, not one student dared to challenge Vincent to a ranking match tomorrow.

Vincent, Lilith, and Nick later arrived. They saw Biro, Ton, and Ollie preparing two aggressive horned rabbits for each student after learning their low tolerance against malicious intent.

The classmates started to arrive and gather. They stood far from Vincent while looking nervous as if he would attack them if he were near.

*Clap* “Gather around everyone. Today will be an advanced lesson about malicious intent resistance.” Ton said. He nodded at Ollie, and the two of them helped the students stand in front of the two aggressive horned rabbits.

Biro approached Vincent. He smiled after watching Lilith stand beside Vincent as if to imply she was there to watch over him.

“Looks like we have a special audience.” Biro winked at Vincent. “How about we train and look cool.”

“Umm. I wasn’t called to the headmaster’s office. Does teacher Biro know the reason why?” Questioned Vincent curiously.

“An intensive investigation is still underway. You might be called today.” *Smack* “But instead of worrying, how about we train?” Biro winked at Lilith, continuing, “Isn’t that why you brought your lovely wife to watch?”

[Blood doesn’t lie. Biro sometimes acts like his father, hehe.]

Vincent agreed. He used Overheat to apply the layer of mana around his body. While doing so, Biro rubbed his chin as if he had discovered something.

“Vincent. Could you try to use Force Shock on the boulder?” Requested Biro.

“Okay.” Vincent stopped and went in front of the boulder. He closed his hand and threw a strike at the boulder with mana. However, Vincent didn’t try to show his Shatter mover as it was his trump card.

“Hmm... I know you aren’t blood purity stage two yet. But I want to see how much you can achieve.” Biro commented before going in front of the training boulder.

Biro gattered the necessary mana from his surroundings and threw a powerful strike while saying, “Force Blast.”

*Boom* The sound of an explosion caught the attention of everyone nearby. When they looked at the origin of the sound, they could see smoke rising from Biro’s hand and a chunk of the training boulder missing.

Biro looked at Vincent. “How about start training for this move? I can feel you are close to reaching blood purity stage two.”

[That is good news. A new move will greatly help you. We can’t like Ester exploding everyone all the time. Don’t we? Hehehe.]
