The Dragon’s Kin

It's spring and I already turned 4. The flowers are blooming, creatures are running outside and the usual liveliness is starting to come back to the island. Each creature is doing its own thing.

As for me, I was walking towards the gate when mother stopped me. I wanted to bug the light blue dragon Marin a bit, but my plans changed.

That reason was "A festival?" I asked while tilting my head.

"Yes, it's the First victory festival held in the capital of Fleania Empire" Mother replied.

It's a national holiday celebrating the first victory in great war. The tradition itself is several hundred years old, being mentioned in several history books found in libraries of the main continent. Not that I have visited one. Not even secretly...

"But didn't you forbid me from leaving the island?" I asked. While I did said that, I really wanted to go. This was my opportunity to stash some new sweets. I know..I am well aware of my problem!

"Well, since you will be coming with me, it shouldn't be a problem" she explained. This was the first time she asked me to accompany her outside of island.

"Then I will join in!"

A wild grandpa suddenly appeared and interrupted our conversation.

"No!" we spoke in unison. It was perfectly timed response, befitting united thoughts of mother and daughter. Nothing good would come from it.

"Don't you remember 84 years ago!?" mother looked at him and continued with an unexpected statement "You got so drunk, that you transformed back into a dragon and destroyed several buildings!"

"Mother was furious!" she rebuked him while her expresion indicated, that she was remembering the said scene.

I had no idea about this kind of granpa's history.

You should've told me more about it mother...

Wait, if I don't control my curiousity, I might turn into a evil dragon. At least, that was what mother told me long time ago.

The worst thing is, that I have no idea if it's true of not!

"But that wasn't my fault!" grandpa interrupted my thought crisis with an objection.

He really wanted to go out with his daughter and granddaughter. Not that I blame him.

"Should I call mother?" mother asked with a icy tone. Because grandma was a powerful weapon against him, we agreed to mention her only when necessary. Were the events from 84 years ago that bad? I still need to as her.

"Okay, I'm staying here" while saying that, he turned around and started walking towards the training area. I know your fear of grandma's wrath is big, but I had no idea that it's to this extent...

Turning her attention back to me, mother spoke "Since you are already 4 and your human form did mature enough, I thought that it can be great experience"


My human form did mature a bit ever since I could use it, but it still resembles a 10 year old girl. It's features started to resemble mother while it still keeping my innocence of a child.

Not that I had the power of ordinary human child. I am still weaker compared to my dragon form, but that form have it's own advantages.

"Okay, I will go" I nodded.

I may have felt some uneasiness while looking at the reflection of my human form before, but now the girl in my memories is no longer clearly seen. I think I'm slowly overcoming it!

"Great! I will go and prepare the gear for us" with her usual smile, she started walking towards the mansion. I wonder if she's planing something.

"And don't forget to ask grandpa for some coins!" a faint shout reached my ears.

"..." she wanted me to ask for currency, from person that we shot down. This is going to be hard thing to do.

The new adventure, ehm...new destination has just been decided.
