1. One Year Ago 

We met one year ago.

“As always, this is the spot.”

I was standing on a hill overlooking the city.

The lights of the city dazzle like the stars in the sky.

I’m sure there are other places, but this really is the best.

Looking up at the sky, I could see stars covering the entirety of the sky.

Moonlight peeked through the trees.

“After all, it really is here…”

A man’s voice came from behind.

“Eh… Who?”

I tried asking while frightened.

To think that there would be someone else in this place…

“Oh, sorry to surprise you… I happen to like this place and I often come here.”

While apologizing, a male came out from behind the trees.

I was wearing jeans and a hooded dark blue parka.

“Ah… and you are?

 

I tried to listen quite carefully.

“Me?” I’m Tachibana Seiya. Written with the characters “Night” and “Star.””

‘Hmm… That sounds like a really nice name…’ I thought to myself.

I like astronomy, and hearing his name made me crack a tiny smile.

“And… You are?”

Ah, that’s right… I gotta introduce myself.

“I’m Mizuki Andou. It’s written with the characters “Beautiful Moon,” and it’s pronounced Mizuki.”

I really like my name, but I’m nowhere near as beautiful as the name sounds.

I’m childish… Not adult-like at all.

“It’s a good name… Mizuki-chan? Nice to meet ya.”

How surprising… That was the first time I’ve been told that.

A “good name” you said it was, though it doesn’t suit me.

That made me happy.

“Oh… Thank you… I’m happy…”

To think I would be honest about these feelings of mine.

The usual me wouldn’t have been able to reveal my true feelings.

I couldn’t say it… I’ve always wanted to fix this flaw of my personality… Oh how many times must I think of this…”

Why was I able to tell this person.

That was when we met one year ago.
