Chapter 42 Part 2

A notification from the gambling site appear on her phone, but she
didn’t have time to care about it.  Her eyes were closely following the
person with a vague expression on the screen. A layer of fog had fallen
over her eyes.

Great.  You won.  How great.

His family didn’t agree with his choice of profession. He bore the
pressure of winning while being misunderstood by his teammates. He
refused to be tarnished by profit and was misunderstood by everyone.
He had stayed up one late night after another all by himself…...Now he
could finally stand on the highest peak, the fruit of his entire youth of
stubbornness and persistence.

He had probably forgotten how the seed was planted in him, but it was
probably a long time ago.  But she wanted to root at his side and nourish
the seed into a forest with him.

The hostess was passing the microphone among the five KG players.  
The atmosphere was very relaxed. The hostess asked, teasingly, how
each of them planned to spend the large sum of the prize money.

Wei Lai took the microphone timidly and said, “I’ll use it to finish school……”

The translator passed hostess’ question.  “Will you only use it for schooling?
Are you going to save the rest of it?”

He bashfully nodded.

The hostess called out in surprise,  “Good boy. It’s rare to see such a
traditional little boy in the video game field.”  The audiences broke out into laughter.

It was Li Cang and others’ turn.  They either hadn’t thought about it or they
would just spend it on food and fun.

The last one was Xu Jimo.  “Captain, what are you going to do from now on?”

“I’ll be retiring.”

He calmly spoke about the decision he had made long time ago.  His
teammates all knew it more or less, but there was sadness in their eyes knowing
that it had been settled and come to an end.  The audiences sighed, unwilling
to accept the news. Some sentimental fans’ eyes were filled with tears when
they recollected what he had experienced since he started his career.

Xu Jim lowered his eyes and smiled in the sorrowful atmosphere.  He said,
“Then, I will marry someone.”

Qianxi opened her mouth slightly, staring at the screen lost in thought.

Class had already ended, the professor had left, but she was sitting at the center
of the classroom, absent-minded.

The stream ended and the screen changed back to the replay of the final match.  
She had no way of knowing what happened afterwards.

She walked around campus, feeling quite unreal when her cell phone rang.  She
answered after a while.

Xu Jimo’s voice was still clear and calm.  “Uhm? So what was the final betting
odds?”

“......”  Who still cared about this now!

He seemed very tired, but his voice was very stable on the phone.  He was just
as serious as usual when he made a joke. “You really have a talent for making money.”

She insisted on studying medicine when he first met her.  She was angry at her
parents for ignoring her talent.

He said,  “It’s probably not that they haven’t discovered your talent, it’s because
you have other better talents.”

She asked without thinking.  “Are you talking about making money?”

Back then, he just felt that she was always overreaching and boasting as if it was
true.  But recent history has shown that she actually did have a talent for making
money. She could dig out gold just b taking a stroll.

Qianxi joined in admiring herself.  “Briefly speaking, even if the betting odds is 1 : 1,
it’s still a very large sum of money…...Do you want to marry me because I know how
to make money……”

“What nonsense are you talking about?”

“I think your motives are very suspicious!”

“You suspicion comes too late.”

He always felt unreal when he recollected the way he had gotten to know her.

It was a muggy summer.  All summer insects in Yang City seemed to cry out
impatiently after being out in the scorching sun.

He was walking in the evening on the streets looking for a young lady who had
stood him up earlier.

She, dressed in a pale pinkish grey dress, sat on the edge of a fountain.  She was
watching the stars in the sky with reddish eyes.

He walked over to her and apologized in a light voice.
