Chapter 8  Part 1

Qianxi quickly completed her termination procedure.  She didn’t have much work to transition to others since she had only been working for a week.

Ah, so sad.

Even sadder, her dad’s secretary informed her to go to the office of the Chairman of the Board.

Qianxi hesitated a little, then she went.

Ye Zhiliang’s eyebrows were tightly knitted.  “Have you finished the termination procedure?”

She lowered her head.  “Finished.”

“Where have you been these two days?”

“Home is everywhere.”  Qianxi shrugged her shoulders.  “I’m an adult capable of supporting herself.  I will not starve to death even if I’m not living at home.”

“Ridiculous!”  Ye Zhiliang pounded the table.  “Your mom has spoiled you too much and it has all gone to your head.  You’re telling me that when you secretly applied to study abroad, you wouldn’t ask the family to support you financially?  Without parents, you can’t achieve anything!”

It was bearable when the issue went unspoken, but hearing him mention the issue, she felt like a fishbone has lodged in her throat.  She couldn’t speak even if she had ten thousand words to argue in her defence.  Finally she lowered her voice and simply said  “I never planned to use your money.”  Then she turned around and quickly left his office.

With a sniff, Qianxi returned to her own office, then held a box with her few possessions and walked out.  All of her subordinates had come to bid farewell to her.  “Director.”  “Director, are you really leaving?”  With tears in their eyes, they were reluctant to see her depart:  Where could you find such a pleasant boss who periodically gave out fringe benefits!

With a smile, she used one hand to pull out dolls, small plants, a personal mini cooler fan, a limited edition Rilakkuma, Lamy fountain pen....to give away as souvenirs.   “Goodbye”  “Remember to work hard when I’m not here.”  “Ah, here you can have this too……”

By the time she walked out of the Yingyuan Building, the box was completely empty.  She dropped the box on top of the trash can.  “You might as well stay here too.”

Her phone rang right after she dropped the box.

It was from her cousin, the movie star, Ye Qiao who had baby brain after becoming pregnant.  “Qianxi, are you still at home?”

“I went to the office.  What’s wrong?”

The background on Ye Qiao’s end was very noisy, obviously she was on the scene of some event.  “I forgot the medicine at home when I left.  Your brother-in-law is out of town for business right now.”

“Ah?”   Qianxi quickly switched her phone to the other ear.  “Are you alright?  I happen to be free now.  Message the address to my phone and I’ll go back to pick it up for you.”

“Don’t you need to work?”

“......Nope.”

Ye Qiao messaged the location of the medicine bottle and the event address to her.  Qianxi hurriedly rushed to her cousin’s home.  Finally, she was able to deliver the medicine before the event started.

Ye Qiao’s assistant, wearing a badge, came out in a hurry and brought her in.  The assistant’s high heels thumped on the ground.  “Ai, thank you so much.  There are so many things to take care of and I really can’t walk away…...well, your cousin is in that green room.  You go in first, I’ll come in later.”

Qianxi nodded and thanked her for her hard work before heading to the green room to look for her cousin.
